John Deere Innovation | John Deere Cotton Club Series, Australian Cotton Conference 2022

John Deere presents new cotton farming tech at the 2022 Australian Cotton Conference. The CP770 cotton picker and CN Spray Select camera system use data to cut costs and boost efficiency. Farmers and industry experts discuss how these tools are changing cotton operations.
We're here at the Cotton Conference this year, really a great opportunity for John Deere, I guess, to showcase new products and new technologies to our customers. Some of the technology we have on show today is the CP770 cotton picker, which is a new cotton picker in the market for John Deere. Some of the innovations that our customers have been really excited to see this week on the stand has been CN Spray Select. So camera based spray technology that we've just introduced this year, as well as really understanding how they can better utilise data through John Deere's operations centre to drive a reduction in inputs on the farm.
Our machines come with technology built in to capture everything that happens on farm, from planting, spraying through to harvesting. The ability to capture all of that data and use it to understand the decisions you've made throughout the season and then you know what outcome they've led to, has a big part to play in terms of making smarter decisions into the future.
All my spray records now are through the My Operations app, which is good. I don't have to double up on data entry. Inputs are all recorded through the John Deere. My Operations, it's all seamless. We're using the JD link, so we're not handling USB sticks and all of that, but it's just there when you need it, you can pull it up, generate a report as needed and it's just made it easy.
We've ordered a 412R with the CN Spray Select. It's due to come in December. Yeah, return on investment. I think it'll be very quick. You only have to look at input costs at the moment. With chemical prices going through the roof. Doesn't take much. Chemical savings pay off a system like CN Spray Select. So we're very excited.
If you think about labour. Well, you know, John Deere's right at the forefront there with the move to the modern round module pickers, which has decreased the need for labour on farm. That's been a major innovation. I think also the digital piece, you know, if we want traceability, just the RFID code that's on the round module, following it through to the gin. If we can keep that sort of technology going and track the fibre right the way through the value chain, that's going to be what our end users want. So I can really see technology, particularly from John Deere, helping Australian growers in that respect.
