This is a YouTube video titled "John Deere L300 Series Large Square Baler - A Real Story" containing a monologue from November 2015. The speaker shares a personal story about farming in Australia, describing the challenges of the environment, the family legacy of farming passed through generations, and the reliability of John Deere equipment used on their property.
Australia is probably one of the most difficult countries to farm in, being so dry and remote. In the middle of summer, it can be bloody hot here. You've got to start early, up before dawn, and then you're probably still going when it's dark. Something you choose to do and grow to love it, I suppose. This property here, my grandfather bought in 1956. Dad grew up here, I've grown up here. And my daughter's here is now too. You get to know every tree, every breakaway, every creek, every gully. This will always be hunt. The landscape doesn't really change, but the practices we using change. Doing it smarter, doing it more economical. Because it is a harsh environment out here. It has to be hardy and tough and strong. Our tractors and our header and our sprayer, they're all John Deere. It seems to work. And I can't think of any product that John Deere's released that has been a failure. Very big contributing factor to why we chose the John Deere baler. Reliability is a very big thing. Like the Oaten hay that we're baling now is a prime hay, so it needs to have the right amount of moisture in it. It only comes in a few hours a day. And if that's when it's right to go, that's when you need to be baling. You want to do the best you can and keep moving forward from where your grandparents were. And they did it very tough for a lot of years where they worked their butts off to give us what we've got today. Legacy, I suppose you'd call it. Pass it down to generation to generation.
