The content is instructional and focuses on lawn care best practices.
Hi, I'm Hugo Struss and I'm the general manager of Tanamba Turf. Here in my family's property, we produce over two and a half million square metres of lawn every year. Water is vital to our operation and for this reason, we use the latest technology to make every drop count. I'm going to show you some watering tips to help you produce the perfect lawn and hopefully save some water along the way. When it comes to soil moisture, a lot will depend on your own yard, a slope, the season or your soil type. But I like to use a broad rule of thumb. You need to be watering your lawn once to twice a week and a little less during winter. I often talk to people who think more regular watering is best, but this will only encourage shallow root growth. You want to water deeply and less often to encourage the roots to chase the water deep down underground. A deep root system will keep your lawn looking its best during tough periods like drought. It will also mean there's less water required. In the long term. It's best to water in the early mornings to reduce the chances of evaporation and any fungal disease. Users when it comes to watering your lawn, if it looks wet and sodden, it's had enough. If it begins to pool, then it's time to stop. If your lawn is hard and compact and the water's not soaking in, it's about time to use some aeration or a soil wetting agent. This is just one tip to help keep your lawn looking legendary.
