DA Wyerbring and Alex discuss how John Deere Operations Centre PRO Golf manages TPC Deere Run. The course integrates historical design elements, uses telematics to monitor equipment, and prepares for the John Deere Classic event.
DA Wyerbring designed a golf course that highlights the original topography that was here, while incorporating all the elements of the history. The Mississippi river and the Rock river, whether that be the coal mining, the John Deere building, the industry, all of that is kind of enveloped in these 400 acres. I think my favorite spot is probably sitting up above the 18th tee, especially in the morning as the sun's coming up through the trees.
And Alex always impresses me with how he knows exactly what's going on for the day, for the next day, for the week even. He knows exactly what needs to get done. And he has it down to a science.
Here we've got hundreds of pieces of equipment. We've developed the full cache of assets via its platform gives us the flexibility now to have really an additional set of eyes beyond just our staff.
So with telematics, you can see exactly where any piece of equipment is on the cork. And then for select pieces of equipment, such as a fairway mower, they can select that piece of equipment and see the usage breakdown, see how long it's been mowing, how long it's been transporting, and how long it's been idle throughout the day.
To have that utility allows us to grow our operation not only efficiently, but in a cost effective manner. What it means for the John Deere Classic next year, it's never too early to start thinking about that.
