John Deere | R975i Trailed Sprayer

John Deere's R975i trailed sprayer is built for Australian farming. Angus Siddons, a farmer from northern New South Wales, explains how it fits into no-till operations and why spraying matters to his yields.
We're here today with the R975i Trail Sprayer from John Deere. This particular model is being introduced to Australia to meet Australian conditions. It has three metre track spacing to suit controlled traffic and also see and spray select across 36 metre boom.
Spraying is really important because in a no till farming system it's the key operation. It's the driver behind retaining moisture is keeping weeds dead and keeping stubble retained. So no more tillage. Spraying's the king. My name is Angus Siddons. We're a farm operation between Northstar and Cropper Creek in northern New South Wales. Well, I grew up around Moree. The family farm we're on, it's been in that family for three generations now. So quite a long established family link with that place. Cropping wise we are pretty standard. We're just dryland broadacre farming. So wheat, barley, chickpeas in the winter and canola. Now we're just launching into and summer is sorghum cotton. Generally no till is important for us because we are in the business of farming moisture before anything else. We can't do anything without moisture. And no till gives us the fullest bucket at the start of the season.
We've got this one here to show you your spray pattern.
Yep.
But then you've got your front lights there. That does your seed spray with the imaging which is really actually lit up really, really well. The R975i provides a unique ability to actually either add to an existing spraying operation by providing more capacity with a self propelled sprayer. Also it can meet those growers who just want to run a trial sprayer and gives the whole versatility of both doing in season broad acre spraying and also that summer fallow spraying with CN spray.
Trail sprayers are attractive because they give you more capacity, less compaction. They're a great second string machine. Their depreciation is lower, their running costs are lower. They're just a great tool to have. The key for us with this machine is it's one brand front to back tractor GPS sprayer. It's got a camera system which is great. We've got scenes spray. That's an established technology now. It's doing a great job. It's got capacity, your one stop shop for any repairs or support. So it ticks a big box in that regard. Yeah.
What's really unique about this sprayer is the fact that when you couple it with a John Deere tractor, you have a John Deere system. So not only is the sprayer now talking with the tractor and the screen and integrates really well. But then when you bring in features such as see and spray select, you know, our nozzle pulsing, it's all here integrated into one scre. Easy to operate, easy to work with and actually enables a better solution.
In field farming is about maximising income, but that's relatively capped. You know, our yields are what they are. We can make the most out of the moisture we've got now. It's all about lowering costs now to increase profitability. Yeah. And it's about getting across the country efficiently. You know, everything's based on time, so the more efficiently you can do that with the less downtime. You know, you're just miles in front of it.
