John Deere | S-Series Walkaround

Jan Geiger, a John Deere product specialist, walks through the S-series rotor combine. The video covers the feeder house, rotor system, cleaning shoe, residue management, transmissions, cab comfort, and technology features built for efficient corn harvesting.
Welcome to our walkaround video. My name is Jan Geiger. I'm a product sales specialist for corn mines with John Deere. Our S series combine is a rotor combine and will give you the highest throughput with industry leading grain quality. Our John Deere combines got a very long feeder house which will give you a great visibility over your whole cutting platform. Out of out of the cab. Our multi coupler will connect the hydraulics and electronics at the same time and will also lock your head mechanically. Our powerful drive also delivers the full power in reverse. Each feeder house comes with a with a manual for aft tilt of your of your cutting platform. You also can order it with with an hydraulic four aft tilt so you can change the cutting angle on the go from the cab. What we also can see on this machine is our five speed power shift gearbox. With this gearbox we can change the speed of our corn head to match our driving speed. On our S series we got a beater in front of our rotor system. The material that comes from our feeder house is catch by our fast system. Fast means feed, accelerator and stone trap. This drum protects our threshing system and will push foreign materials like for example stones into our stone trap. Second important job is the feeding of our rotor. Our feed housing is designed to have a tri stream feeding to feed the rotor at an angle of 270 degrees. This ensures an even and quick filling of our rotor. Our rotor on the SCUS combines is splitted into a threshing area in the front and a separation area in the back. Our concaves are split into three segments and we can change those segments to harvest all different crops. What we also can see on this machine is our active concave isolation which allows us also in tough conditions to get a very nice crop flow in the back. Our separation area is designed universal. But what we can see on this machine is our HD grades that allows us to change those segments and it's also designed for very tough conditions. The rotor on the S series got three different feeding, threshing and separation. In the threshing area we increase the diameter of the rotor housing for the first time. This gives us a compress and release effect. For better grain separation, we can order the machine with two different rotors with a tri stream rotor or like we can see here, our variable stream rotor. This rotor is t designed for tough conditions and will deliver a better stroke quality. The difference is that we got a very long cone over the whole threshing area. In the back we increased again the diameter of our rotor housing for higher centrifugal forces which will increase our grain separation. In the back of our Vario stream rotor we got again a cone and discharge pedals. This will help us for a very easy transport of the straw from the rotor into our chopper. On the S series we got the new cleaning shoe Dynaflo. Plus the new cleaning shoe is made out of a steel aluminium construction. To save weight, we also increased our sieve area by 12% to increase the separation capacity by 5%. The total cleaning shoe area is now 5.2 square meter. With an optional pre chaffer extension. It goes up to 5.9 5.9 square meter. In the front we got our auger system. On the S series we got four augers that will deliver the material also on side hills evenly over the whole width through our cleaning shoe the material comes on our pre chefer. The pre chefer will separate up to 40% and reduce the load on our chaffer. New on the S series is our active terrain adjustment. If you harvest in rolling terrain and have to go up and downhill frequently, this system will automatically adjust our fan speed and the position of the chaffer and the sieve. Unique in the system is that it also consider the crop weight and the crop size for our adjustments. For the residue management, we got three different choppers on offer. We got the deluxe version with 44 knives and intermediate and premium version with 100 knives. The difference between the last two choppers is that on the premium chopper we can change from the cab between chopping and windrowing. A very nice shopping quality starts directly behind our rotor. We got a discharge beater which will pull the straw out of the rotor and distribute it over the whole width of our chopper. Each chopper comes with a two speed drive. We can change the speed by pulling this knob. It is very easy to change between small and large grain. Our choppers comes with different distribution systems. On this machine you can see our vane system as an option. You can also get an electric motor to change the spreading direction from the cab. If you go with headers wider than 9 meter, we recommend to go to an active system. At John Deere we call it Advanced Power Cast. With this system you can change the spreading direction but also the spreading width from the cab. If you got a machine with a premium chopper, you will get a stainless steel plate in this position. And when you're windrowing, we use our chopper to spreading the chaff that's coming from the cleaning shoe. Our combines you can order with different transmissions. We got a three speed transmission and our automatic transmission Pro Drive. The Prodrive transmission delivers you a higher torque over the whole speed range. It also comes with a differential lock for tough and wet conditions. The Pro Life transmission comes with an engine speed management to reduce our engine speed on the roads to save fuel. It is also possible to drive in the street with speeds up to 40 km an hour. Another unique feature on some of our models is our Hill Master system. With the Hillmaster, we can compensate side slopes up to 15%. Together with our cleaning shoe, we can compensate side hills up to 22%. It will push the whole combine to the level position so the side hill won't influence our threshing system. At the same time, we can make sure to fill our grain tank always completely. And also the driver will sit in a level cab to increase the comfort. Another feature are the tracks. With the tracks, we can reduce our road transport width. On a 5 walker machine below 3.3. On a 6 walker machine and our S series below 3.5 meters. The tracks will increase the ground contact area which means less compaction, higher traction. Another unique feature is that we can change between tracks and tires at any time. Our spacious cab gives you great comfort and will give you a great visibility. Also, over the widest headers, our command arm combines all our controls. We got different display options at first our Command Center 3 and like you can see on this machine, our Green sun display 26:30. The interactive combined adjustment system supports our driver so that the driver can deliver best results under all conditions. On all our displays we can run our Automatic Steering System AutoTrack. To use all our intelligent solutions, we need our GreenSA display 2630. With this display we can show and also document all our harvest data such as yield and moisture. Another option we can run on this display is our Machine Sync. With Machine Sync, we can connect our combine with our clock card and this will simplify our unloading process. With remote display access, we get a chance for example from the dealer to get access to our display and help our driver in case of any issues. With wireless data transfer, our farm manager can get access in real time to our combine to get all our harvest data.
