This is a YouTube video titled "John Deere | S700 The Automated Combine Part 8 - The Single Rotor Advantage" created in February 2018. The content is a detailed explanation of the John Deere S700 single rotor combine harvester's design and operational advantages, focusing on its rotor mechanism, crop handling, and performance features. It is a technical presentation or product overview without conversational elements or multiple speakers.
The John Deere single rotor concept offers clear advantages. Higher throughput, improved grain quality and better harvesting in tough crops and challenging conditions. The 8 Wing Feed Accelerator with stone trap is designed to fill the rotor with large amounts of crop. The crop is fed into the rotor in three streams. This ensures a very even transition from the horizontal flow of the accelerator to the axial flow of the rotor. The thickness of the straw mat gradually reduces as it passes over the conical threshing areas several times. In the front part of the cone, the easiest to thresh grain is removed through gentle and efficient crop on crop threshing. In the rear part, the remaining crop is separated. The rotor is eccentrically mounted so when it rotates, it pulls the crop down as it meets the concave and then releases it as it moves towards the top. This pull and release effect provides more aeration amongst the crop and reduces straw damage. The bigger diameter of the single rotor produces almost double the centrifugal force of other concepts and results in higher separation, reducing the need for a larger separation area. The S series is equipped with active concave isolation providing extra stability when harvesting tough crops like rapeseed. It prevents large lumps of crop causing time consuming blockages. The number of rotations the crop performs can also be changed from inside the cab. In the standard position, the crop makes seven full rotations for higher grain separation. If the operator wants to optimize the straw quality, they can switch to the advanced position. This exits the straw from the combine after just five rotations. The tapered rear cone allows material to expand before it is discharged through the eight wing discharge beater. The S700 single rotor combine high performance paired with top grain and straw quality.
