John Deere S700 & X9 Combines - Automate combine settings with Combine Advisor™

This is a YouTube video titled "John Deere S700 & X9 Combines - Automate combine settings with Combine Advisor™" created in September 2021. The content is an instructional presentation explaining how to use the automation features of the Combine Advisor system on John Deere combines, detailing steps like setting performance targets, using Active Terrain Adjustment, Harvest Smart, and Auto Maintain to optimize combine performance during harvesting.
Once optimized and the productivity, quality and loss levels of the combine are acceptable, the next step is to utilize the automation features of Combine Advisor.
With Active Terrain Adjustment turned on, the combine will automatically adjust the chaffer, sieve and fan to maintain consistent samples and minimize losses on changing terrain. It is good practice to have ATA on before you set your performance target.
The Set Performance Target button allows you to inform the combine that current grain loss, quality and engine power levels are optimal. Good practice is to set a new target in each new crop after you've optimized the machine, ensure you are in a representative area of the field and avoid setting performance targets on headlands or around trees.
Harvest Smart controls the speed of your combine to maintain optimal performance and productivity. It can be set to focus on maintaining the grain loss level set in your performance target or maintaining an engine power level set by the operator. In this settings window, you also set your max harvesting speed while using Harvest Smart and Harvest Smart aggressiveness. In earlier S700 models, Harvest Smart is engaged by pressing 2 or 3 on the hydro handle. On later models, you set it to one of the programmable buttons. Button B is default.
Auto Maintain utilizes cameras on the clean grain and tailings, elevators, and sensors throughout the machine to recognize changes in your grain sample and combine performance. It then automatically adjusts the combine settings to maintain the performance target you set. You can check the live cameras at any time to get a quick visual of the sample you're harvesting. When turned on, it will default to the last Set Performance Target if you're in a new crop, set a new Performance Target. Use the History button to view the performance of your combine over time and visualize the effective changes made automatically by the combine. Selecting the Active tab shows adjustments currently being made by Auto Maintain, an active terrain adjustment, and the completed tab gives you a history of the adjustment the system has made over time.
The Automation status box let you know the status of each automation feature. For more details on each one, simply click on the relevant area. Your performance target will take approximately 10 minutes to acquire. Once acquired, the Combine Advisor features will start to adjust the settings of the combine to maintain the performance levels of the target. Settings that are being adjusted by Combine Advisor are shown as blue. You've now automated your combine. Thanks for watching and be sure to check out our other how to videos.
