Step-by-step guide to setting up John Deere S700 and X9 combines. Covers selecting fields, choosing crop types, configuring machine settings, and optimizing performance for harvest.
To set up Your John Deere S700 or X9 series combine, navigate to the Setup button in the bottom left corner of your display.
Select the client Farm and field. The display will default to nearby fields. You can select View all if you want to select a different field or create a new field. Correct naming ensures correct location documentation, which is the first step in gathering accurate data. Next, select the crop type and variety. If you recorded your varieties correctly when seeding, you can send a variety locator map from your Operations center account and the combine will automatically record the correct variety from your seeding data. Selecting the crop type will set up the default combine settings for that specific crop. These are a good starting point when entering a new crop.
Select Harvest, Setup and Outside Configuration to see what external machine adjustments need to be made for the selected crop type. For details on how to perform these adjustments, refer to the Operator's MANUAL or the EquipmentPlus mobile app for step by step instructions. Once the outside of the machine has been configured for your crop type, exit and tap on the Current Settings box to bring up current combine settings. These can be changed as you optimize your combine and then saved as a preset.

Under the header information your John Deere.
Header will automatically be recognized.
Open header type settings to double check.
Your width is correct, whilst here you can set your recording stop height. When the header is below this height, it will record coverage and yield data.
Lift the header to a point between.
Your top cutting height and the height you turn at and then select Set.

Exit back to the Setup page. The equipment settings will all be pre populated as they are saved with the combine. The header settings seen here are a second way to view and adjust the header settings shown before you've now finished setup and you're ready to start harvesting. Click OK to return to your main run page.
