Ben Kelly demonstrates John Deere's See & Spray Select system, which uses AI to identify and spray only weeds, not crops. Farmers in Moree say it cuts chemical use and costs while boosting efficiency on the 616R sprayer.
Hi, I'm Ben Kelly, I am the production systems manager for John Deere and we're here today just north of Moree to talk to customers and show them the new John Deere See and Spray select system on our 616R sprayer. The machine has See and Spray select technology on it, which is a spot spraying weed detection system and that's really going to help us to deliver to our customers savings on chemical and also better and more positive environmental outcomes throughout the day. Today we've taken a number of customers and put them in the seat of the machine and allowed them to operate the equipment and the reaction's been really positive.
Angus Siddons is my name. We farm at Northstar, which is just 20km north of here. The 600 series spray is impressive and the CN spray system's impressive. It seems to be very easy to use on that little demo and miles in front of other systems as far as versatility. My name's Tim and we farm at Alice downs, which is 30K's east of Moree. The 600 series and the Spray Select, I think it'll be reduced cost, chemical, everything. It is going to be a game changer for us. Hi, I'm Shane Boardman. We farm just to the Upper Toluna. We've got about 3,500 hectares. In terms of efficiencies, I think it'll be fantastic. We don't currently use any weed cameras on the farm. We get contractors in when we need it and I think this is great for what we want to have one machine do the whole lot for us here.
