John Deere | T Series: Threshing System

This is a YouTube video titled "John Deere | T Series: Threshing System" created on April 25, 2018, presenting a detailed technical explanation of the threshing and cleaning systems of the John Deere T series combine harvester. The content is a monologue or presentation focusing on the machine's design features, performance improvements, and operational benefits in agricultural harvesting.
A combine harvester must above all thresh and separate grain cleanly, delivering performance but not damaging the straw. The T series has an impressive and exclusive multi drum threshing process with the unique system of managing the crop flow through the threshing drum, over the overshot beater and into the separating rotor without any rough handling of the crop or sudden changes of direction in the flow of grain. With the new T series, we have again improved the throughput capac by up to 15% compared to the previous model by designing a larger separating rotor, now 800 millimeters in diameter. And this system of managing an even crop flow ensures a continued excellent quality of the grain and straw produced. The feeder house is a key element of this new design. The crop flow speed was increased to 3.6 meters per second. In this system, the grain is fed into the threshing unit in a thinner layer of straw. The initial acceleration effect results in an improved flow of the grain and then therefore a greater production capacity. The power of the slip clutch was increased to 900 newtons per meter so that it can process tough or damp crops effectively. The new booster bar design can be adjusted quickly and it improves the threshing of grain without reducing the size of the concave surface or diverting the flow of grain in any sudden change of direction. So for the harvesting of barley, for example, we recommend using the booster bar first instead of applying the de awning plates, because these do not close off the front area of the concave bar basket and thereby reduce the separation volume. This ensures a high grain quality without the risk of any loss of threshing capacity in difficult threshing conditions. The threshing drum with 10 rasp bars and a diameter of 660mm ensures a gentle friction in the threshing process without damaging the grain or straw too much. Thanks to the unique design of the T series, the crop flows from the threshing drum over a larger overshot beater, which then feeds the new extra large 800mm separator drum from above. Due to the larger deflection angles, the grain and straw are subjected to very little stress, which prevents damage thanks to a large active separating surface up to 4 square meters, the largest on the market. This system ensures that even in difficult conditions, the grain is removed cleanly from the straw mat, resulting in unmatched performance and productivity. The seven step walkers separate even the last remaining grains from the straw mat. In developing the new Dynaflo plus cleaning system, the engineers at John Deere increased the sieve area by 41% by using an innovative aluminium frame design, the stresses on the larger sieves have been reduced as the mass of the moving grain is reduced. Due to the ability to get it to the clean grain tank early in the cleaning process, the completely new fan system provides 57% more airflow power. The distribution of the airflow is now absolutely balanced over the entire width and length of the sieve system. This is because the air inlets and outlets of the fan have been optimized. This ensures maximum cleaning efficiency even with the maximum throughput of grain. At the same time, this cleaning system is very easy to optimize. Our tests have shown that, for example, an incorrect setting of the fan speed will have very little influence on the grain losses in the tailings. This guarantees the stability of the new cleaning system and that the combine harvester will always achieve excellent performance even without continuous optimization and adjustments by the operator. With the Slopemaster as a standard feature, the T series can compensate for gradients of up to 7%. The active handling of the grain by augers ensures a uniform feeding of the cleaning shoe. This system ensures that we will not overload one side of the combine harvester in side slopes and that there will be a constant feed to the cleaning shoe. Even in sticky crop conditions. Dividers on the upper sieve prevent the crop from accumulating on one side. Due to the significantly longer cleaning shoe, the grain has more opportunity to be cleaned effectively even when large volumes of crops are being processed. This system does not require an active slope compensation system on sloping gradients of more than 7%. The active Hillmaster slope compensation system is essential to keep the cleaning system and the straw walkers perfectly level to ensure maximum performance in hilly conditions. The optional Hillmaster ensures that the performance the combine harvester on gradients of up to 22% will be the same as on level ground.
