John Deere Tractor Maintenance Points

Craig from Sunsouth walks through essential maintenance for John Deere tractors: greasing zerks, checking the air filter and oil, cleaning the radiator, caring for the battery, and draining the water fuel separator.
Hey, guys, this is Craig with Sun south in Tuscaloosa. Today I'm going to go over just a few basic maintenance tips on these tractors for new tractor owners. One of the first things we want to look at is all your grease zerks. Those things need to be paid attention to, need to be hit. You know, probably every few uses, you need to make sure you hit those. Keep greasing those joints. Come around here, all these side panels come off for easy access to the engine compartment. There's a service schedule up here on the hood to keep up with all your routine maintenance. Your oil changes and stuff. In here, you got easy access to your battery, your battery terminals. You want to make sure those stay clean. Dielectric grease is a good idea to put on them to keep from them building up dirt and debris. You want to pay attention to your radiator. A lot of times you're doing something dusty, a lot of bush hogging. Anything that creates a lot of dust or material in the air, your radiator absorb a lot of that. One of the most important things you want to pay attention to daily, especially again, after doing any type of work that creates a lot of dust is your air filter. One of the most common things that we have people come in here and talk about is their tractor feels like it's bogging down. And the first thing we ask them, when's the last time you checked your air filter? A lot of times those air filters get clogged up with dust and engine can't breathe, it can't make power. So that's easily removable. You pull that outer filter out, knock the dust and debris out of it. The next thing is all your oil fill checkpoints are all capped in yellow. So here's your oil for your front chunk. There's your engine oil right next to the engine oil dipstick is going to be your oil filter. And right here is your water, water fuel separator. You want to pay attention to that. You start getting a little water built up in the end of that. You definitely want to clean that out according to the owner operator's manual to make sure no water don't get in your system. All right, that wraps up kind of some. Several. Just basic maintenance tips on these tractors. If you feel uncomfortable doing any of this, our service department here at Sunsouth would be glad to help you out with that. They can get you in and out pretty quickly. And of course, you can call us at any time to ask any questions. If you just need some advice and you want to try this stuff at your home at your convenience.
