This is a YouTube video titled "John Deere Women in Turf | Championing the role of females in Turf" featuring a multi-speaker discussion about the John Deere Women in Turf program. The participants, identified as multiple speakers, discuss the initiative's goal to increase female representation and support in the male-dominated greenkeeping industry, sharing their experiences and the positive impact of the program. The content was created in March 2023 and focuses on diversity and community building within the turf industry.
I love the satisfaction of going out and mowing the lawn and looking back and you can see what you've done. It's really satisfying and I can't complain.
So the John Deere Women in turf program was brought about by John Deere wanting to really open up a diversity on what is a male dominated industry. John Deere is really passionate about developing females in the green keeping industry and we thought what better way to do it than to launch it at the TPS series at Cobra and Boruga Golf Club here where the male and female professional golfers are playing for the same purse.
Definitely. I do think that this program will.
Have a great impact and hopefully by.
Promoting this sort of program there will be more people attracted to. We started thinking about working on the Gold coast and becoming female greenkeepers.
I really love that John Deere showcased this initiative with women in turf. It is such a male dominated industry and you know, having the six of us together just to kind of build a bit of a support network for the future. A lot of the girls are younger and still quite early on in their careers so it's good to kind of, yeah, just have that support network, share, share similar experiences, have a bit of a laugh.
I found this program really good to meet the other females in the industry. Like there is other females there that you can connect with and work with and learn from. In terms of helping women get into the industry. I think just showing them that there's already women that are doing it. We're forming a community together and the support crew and I think that's super important and vital for them to know that it's very welcoming.
The female volunteers that we've got this year have been brilliant. The attitude the girls have brought and the guys that I work with has been brilliant and the camaraderie that we've seen within a few days has been awesome. I hope we've all learnt something from each other along the way.
Bringing women in, you know, we look.
At things differently, you know, breaks up the dynamic of the group. So I think that helps create a really healthy working environment and just kind of balances the team out. I'd definitely love to see more women in the industry, but I think we're taking the right steps to encourage that.
