The video showcases participants in John Deere’s Women in Turf program sharing their experiences preparing a championship golf course for a tournament. Speakers highlight the importance of encouraging women in the traditionally male‑dominated turf industry, describe the intensive week‑long tournament‑prep schedule (mowing greens, tee surfaces, fairways, raking bunkers, and collaborating with superintendents), and praise the advanced John Deere equipment—especially the GPS‑guided mower—for sharpening their skills. The testimonials emphasize personal growth, confidence building, and the supportive community formed among the women and crew. The content serves both as a celebration of the participants’ achievements and a call for broader industry support to create more senior opportunities for women in turf management.

For girls to get into the turf industry is like the best thing you could do for yourself.
I mean, look at this place, it's just beautiful.
Just being on this course is amazing, like you can't beat it.
The main benefits of the Women in Turf program is to highlight the importance of the women in the industry, to give them exposure to a high level, what goes in day to day helps drive their interest and spark within staying within industry and not afraid to maybe take the next step and develop their skill sets to, you know, move on and also train.
Yeah, I think supporting the Women TURF program is something that we really need to as an industry support in terms of, you know, it's a very male-dominated industry. Love to see more women being able to get opportunities to get into some of these senior roles.
I love the early mornings, especially when it's a little bit cold and there's a bit of dew. What I love about the job is working outside and just having that community feeling and meeting lots of new people. I don't really want to work in an office for the rest of my life, so being outdoors is where I want to be. So yeah.
When I saw the course, it's like, that's where I want to be, and just loved it ever since.
When I found out I was selected for the Women in Turf program with John Deere, I was very excited but also a bit nervous. I screamed and cried and laughed all in 2 seconds, and I was just over the moon. It was the best feeling ever.
The John Deere Women in Turf program is based upon having 6 women help out with tournament prep so that they come in on a Sunday, they work through with a superintendent and their crew, and then fly out the Monday after the tournament. Tournament prep, so full week of tournament prep experience.
Turf preparation is important for this scale because, you know, we're showcasing Magenta. We want to make sure it's delivered as the championship golf course that it is.
Preparing a course for a tournament this size is absolutely amazing. Like, it's something I would never have dreamed of doing. It's definitely a little bit intimidating helping to prepare the course for the competition. It's actually quite stressful. There's a lot of work that goes into it. Everything's 1% Attention to detail. Just, you really want to look back in your work and be like, wow, I did that. This is awesome. And professionals are going to play here that I'm providing for them.
Yeah, so the girls have had a variety of jobs from mowing green surfaces, tee surfaces, fairways, raking bunkers, networking with the crew.
All the John Deere equipment they've got here is awesome. There's a whole bunch of new stuff.
The quality of cut that this GPS John Deere mower has is just awesome. It's blown me away. I feel like it's tightening up my skills to up the ante a little bit. Yeah.
The girls have really sort of caught up to speed really quickly and exceeded our expectations. It's great to see them develop new skills. And gain confidence in themselves.
I don't know, it's weird. I've got nothing to be anxious or nervous about. Like, everyone's just been super welcoming. I've made some great connections and friends with all the girls, and we all uplift each other, and we've all clicked really well so far, and everyone here has been very accommodating.
Just touching on this program, it's nice to actually meet some other female greenkeepers and just knowing knowing them, just getting to know them. Like, this industry is in good hands.
I would recommend this job to everyone. I don't think you can beat it at all. Something about it makes you feel very proud to be a woman. Give it a go, find your pathway. There's so many different things you can do with it. Everyone's really welcoming that I've encountered in the industry, so give it your best shot.
