John Deere Yarn On The Farm | Alex and Rob

This is a YouTube video titled "John Deere Yarn On The Farm | Alex and Rob" containing a conversation between Alex Tucker, a John Deere employee, and Rob Fairchild, a mixed farmer near Mangapla. The discussion centers around farming equipment, seasonal farming activities, and their working relationship, recorded in September 2022.
I'm actually heading to. To Canberra on the weekend to go and watch the Roosters and. And the Raiders play.
I think you're probably going to look at a win too, aren't you?
Yeah, yeah, I'm hoping so.
I'm quite comfortable as a Storm supporter that. Yep. I'm not too worried about either of those. You can fight over the minor facings.
Yeah. I'm Alex Tucker. I've been working for John Deere for 13 years now and yeah, built up a bit of a relationship with Rob over the last few years.
I'm Rob Fairchild. We're at Barundana near Mangapla. We're mixed farmers in this area.
I reckon the first time I came out of here, I think I was just in the area doing another job actually.
That would have been over 10 years.
Ago, just about, wouldn't it, or. No, I don't think it was that long ago.
Not that old?
No, not that old. I do, yeah, I do look older. But recently we sort of helped you out with a. With an 8R, I guess. How's that all going?
Oh, look fantastic. And that's. That's allowed us to finish sewing and otherwise we'd have been in a fair bit of strife. So when the old nine had a little bit of an issue, it was really pleasing that you were able to send us out with an 8R to keep us going. And as of Thursday we'd finished sewing and we're ahead of the game. Thank you. We're running a considerable number of John Deere machines now and they've all got their specific purposes. And if we have an issue with a breakdown or require servicing immediately, then it's very handy to have a team of dedicated technicians on hand. Preparation for harvest will be the next thing. We've got the new 780 turning up, so pre delivery and getting everything set up ready for us and then a run through would be appreciated.
Yeah, for sure. Definitely something that we're keen to get involved with. I think I've actually probably picked up a better understanding of what farmers go through season to season, the different varieties of what people do, whether it's cropping or if it's cattle work or sheep work or whatever it is just sort of understanding the different times of year when things happen and how important those times of year are to farmers. And learning that off you has been really good. It's helped me probably do my job a bit better as well. So how are things looking for the upcoming season?
We've just finished the harvest. Most of our grazing crop has been grazed now. It's been a wonderful establishment, so we're hoping that that'll continue through to harvest. The canola is all full emergence and it all looks wonderful. The new header will get a good workout.
We're hoping.
Appreciate it, Alex. We're back on the road and working again. I'll be talking to you in town.
I'm sure we will.
No worries.
Thank you.
Cheers.
