John Deere Yield Analysis with the Rethus'

A farmer walks through John Deere's yield mapping technology, showing how harvester data gets collected and analyzed to improve crop decisions. The focus is on using yield maps to guide fungicide application and spot problem areas in fields.
So yield mapping is a really important data layer. It's the final result. That's the one you get paid on. That's the one you can do a lot of analysis with. The John Deere operations center will bring that map in automatically. One of the powerful things on the S Series harvester, we've got active yield, and the X series has that as well. And that means that when you get your map, there's far less data processing. A very simple example, we we can label applications and they'll be tracked on our operations center. And there's a really simple analysis tool to do at the end of the day where we can compare yield versus any layer we like. So we've just done a paddock of canola, and it's quite clear that we were probably losing as much as 30% less canola harvested where we hadn't done a fungicide application. And so in the past, it's kind of unusual to do fungal applications in canola in our area. And clearly we can see the benefit of that right now. Just by looking at those two different application maps, it's quite clear you can see to the exact line when you're scouting, you can walk out with your phone and you can be watching the blue dot on the map, and you can see when you're standing in it or not standing in it, it's that accurate. It's down to less than a meter. So you can use those tools to make sure that you're getting that proper feedback and making that assessment on the.
