This is a YouTube video titled "John Deere's leadership across High Value Crop" featuring Steph Jezykowski, Production Systems Manager at John Deere, discussing innovations and technologies designed to improve efficiency and productivity in high value crop farming, including new machinery and automation solutions. The content is a monologue focused on agricultural technology and industry growth.
Hi, I'm Steph Jezykowski and as production Systems Manager at John Deere, my job is to make sure our machines are delivering all that they can for our high value crop growers. The sector is growing rapidly with a value this coming financial year that will be close to $18 billion. It's outpacing every other primary industry and is only expected to go higher thanks to a rising global population and the demand for Australian prod. So growers talk to us a lot about the importance of achieving efficiency and productivity gains in their operations. I'm here to say that we've been listening and we're working really hard to ensure the solutions we bring to market answer these requirements. Take the new 5ML. It's specifically designed for the unique requirements of orchard and vineyard production. Narrow enough to fit down rows, a low profile to ensure minimum crop interference and all the power and features you need. We've also included technology like Interface integrated AutoTrack and iTech Basic to streamline those repetitive tasks and improve overall job execution. To reduce your input costs, we've got Smart Apply, which uses LIDAR sensors to see the canopy and engage individual nozzles to spray just when it needs to. On average, this solution cuts chemical and water use by 50%. Automation is going to be a game changer. That's why we have embarked on a joint venture with gus, which introduces a commercially viable semi autonomous sprayer to the HVC grow. With gus, one person can control up to eight units, which significantly reduces a grower's labour requirement. While the use of GPS and LIDAR to move through the crop delivers a superior spray application. This really is the future, but it's also just the start for us. You can expect more from John Deere because we are listening and we are committed to high value crops.
