John Deere launched the Intelligent boom control in 2013, an innovation which not only makes the boom operation fast, easy and accurate, but most importantly increases production and helps to attract and to retain the best operators. Intelligent Boom Control presents leading technology in forwarder operations that has convinced operators operators worldwide. It makes boom operations easier, more precise and more productive. The operator no longer needs to control each independent boom joint movement separately. The operator just controls the grapple and the Intelligent Boom Control automatically guides the boom and the joints accordingly. With a mini lever on the left, the operator moves the grapple horizontally, forwards, backwards or sideways. Intelligent Boom Control automatically controls the lift, slew and extension of the boom based on the location of the grapple. With the mini lever on the right, the operator moves the grapple up and down. Intelligent Boom Control automatically controls the lift, slew and extension, keeping the movement straight. The new version of Intelligent Boom Control software improves the precision of the grapple, especially with long reaches. The same amount of mini lever movement always produces the same speed to the grapple, no matter how long the reach. Operator ergonomics and the boom durability are improved as the system softly dampens the cylinder movements in end position. Intelligent Boom Control has a pre programmed unloading function. It makes unloading faster and easier and increases the lifetime of the boom components. Intelligent Boom Control helps new operators work up to 15% faster. Additionally, it increases work efficiency.
