Made in Germany - The new John Deere 8000 Series SPFH (Ep. 6)

This is a YouTube video titled "Made in Germany - The new John Deere 8000 Series SPFH (Ep. 6)" created in July 2015. The content is a detailed presentation or narration describing the production process, quality control, and development of the John Deere 8000 Series self-propelled forage harvester at the Zweibrucken factory in Germany. It highlights the collaboration across departments, extensive field testing, and investment in production facilities to ensure high product quality before delivery to customers.
With field testing almost complete, limited production of the first 8,000 series began in early 2014 at John Deere's Harvester Works in Zweibrucken, Germany. The works has a proud tradition of building self propelled harvesting machines. Since 1964, with this new Forage Harvester series, we've done all we could so that all of our knowledge about construction, marketing and service, as well as final assembly, flows into this product from day one. And that when we deliver the first product to our client, we've ensured that the machine is of the highest possible quality. I'm especially proud of the 8000 series because 90% of the components have been developed from scratch based on customer needs, which provides added value to the customer. With the 7000 series, we have a highly regarded machine on the market. And I'm convinced that we will achieve this level with the 8000 series right from the very beginning. A good indicator is that we've been able to conduct 50% more field test hours than planned. Quality control begins during the development phase in conjunction with supply management, engineering and production. Planning is continued throughout production and maintained in collaboration with the customer service team later on in the field. On top of the development costs, several million euros have been invested in new production facilities. In order to build the 8000 series here in Zweibrucken, we expanded our assembly line by another four stations. These four pre assembly stations are housed in a new building. We're starting from a proven concept with a self supporting frame welded at the Zweibrucken factory, painted at the Zweibrucken factory. And in the final phase we assemble our components components onto this stable frame. We're standing in front of the final inspection point where all controls are programmed, functions are checked. So that at the end of the process, we ensure that when the machine is delivered to the customer, it is fully operational. Together with my team, we ensure that the forage harvesters fulfill the quality expected by our customers. At the end, we've assembled the gears, motors, cab cutter heads, all of the components, and we conduct a complete running test of the machine. During this thorough test run, all of the functions are checked. The essential pressures, sensor signals and many other functions are tested. At the end of this test run, we are confident that we are providing proven quality to our customers. What I particularly enjoyed about the development of this machine is the fantastic collaboration of all departments, from the design all the way to the employee who assembles the machine on the production line. It's a particularly special moment when a machine like that comes to life for the first time. When the engine starts up, the electrics, the drives are calibrated, the tyres are fitted, and you really see that this product works exactly as we'd all imagined. In our next episode, the 8000 series makes its public launch when the first customer takes delivery, and all the hard work of the past five years is put to its ultimate test.
