As a child, I would always run to the fence whenever I'd see a set of yellow wheels and a green cab drive down the road. I've always had a passion for the John Deere product. I'm Mark. I'm a field service technician for Drummer and Etheridge Rolleston, based in North Canterbury. The most rewarding part of being a technician for me is the satisfaction of getting a machine going for a customer when they've got a big workload on and you can sort their problems out for them. So that's one less thing they have to worry about. If you didn't have these technicians available in the industry, a machine that goes down is a machine that's not making any money. It means a lot to me to win the John Deere Service Technician Award, as it was recognition for all the hard work and training over the years to get to the stage that I am at now.
Oligmark's an exceptional individual. I've known him for in excess of 10 years now, so he's a guy who just acts with a lot of integrity, honesty, but he's always thinking about the customers and he always puts the customers first. Above that, he's hard working, he's always conscientious about getting the best outcomes and all those attributes mean a lot for us as a business. More so up where he works, he works relatively remotely and so having an individual that we can trust, that we know is going to get on with the work and get through a day, is exceptional and Mark delivers all that for us.
So over the years for Lee logging, I've completed their service work, their maintenance work and any technical issues they may have had. It's a great honour to be part of the team that is lelogging. It means a lot for me to see their business running really well.
So I met Mark about two years ago when he started working on our equipment and him and I hit it off pretty, pretty well. He's very knowledgeable on the product and I enjoy working with him. We've been running John deere equipment for 12, maybe 15 years. The John Deere machinery in our business is pretty important to us. We're paid by production in this industry, so. So if the wheels ain't turning, we ain't earnin'. When I heard Mark had won John Deere Technician of the Year award, I was pretty pleased to hear it. He's enthusiastic and passionate for his job. We require a prompt, efficient service to keep our operation moving and that's why the John Deere technicians are so important to our business.
