This is a YouTube video titled "Part 1: Understanding Efficiency Manager" created in June 2016, explaining the features and functionality of the Fuel Saving Efficiency Manager in John Deere E23 and E18 transmissions. The video features two speakers discussing how the system automatically manages transmission shifting and engine speed to optimize fuel efficiency and performance for tractor operators.
The John Deere E23 and E18 transmissions feature the Fuel Saving Efficiency Manager. But what does Efficiency Manager do? Well, in this video, I will answer that specific question.
We have known for years that operators need to shift up and throttle back to save fuel in light load conditions, but it is up to the operators to figure out on their own how much to actually shift up and throttle back when without losing performance. They also have to shift down and throttle up as loads increase, which require more power. Adjusting transmission gear and engine speed to maintain this efficiency in changing conditions requires constant input from the operator. Efficiency Manager, however, does all of this automatically, making efficient operation of the tractor a lot easier for operators while maintaining performance. Operating at a reduced engine speed may require a slight change of mindset, but it's worth it to maintain the same level of productivity as efficiently as possible. Now, there are three settings that help the tractor determine when to shift and adjust the engine speed to find the right balance between performance and efficiency. These settings are Eco Engine Speed, Droop and Load anticipation, which we will explore in separate videos.
Remember, Efficiency Manager automatically shifts up and throttles back in light load conditions and shifts down and throttles up to give you the power in heavy load conditions.
