Precision Ag Technology MADE EASY! │ Crop Protection with Automatic Section Control

Sonja and others explain John Deere's automatic section control technology, which reduces chemical use in spraying, planting, and fertilizing. The system improves precision and cuts costs while helping farmers meet EU goals to cut crop protection chemicals by half by 2030.
Green deal with this concept. The EU wants to reduce the use of crop protection chemicals by 50% by 2030. Additionally, the public's interest in agriculture is also growing, especially when it comes to handling resources with John Deere section control or automatic control of implement sections. We're already making an important contribution even today. Sonja, can you explain this to us in a little more detail?
Of course. Our automatic section control automatically switches the boom sections of a sprayer on and off via gps, reducing overlaps and gaps in the field. You can activate it all on our John Deere displays, universal or integrated. And then you need a crop protection sprayer. Best of all, John Deere crop protection sprayers. Of course, this is ideal when used with premium features, power spray and individual nozz. But you can also use it on all other implements that also meet the AEF ISOBUS standard for section control. And it's not just for spraying. You can also use section control for planting and fertilizing.
This is brilliant, especially because we can already control up to 255 different sections today. But Sonja, what do you see as the biggest advantage?
Well, the biggest advantages are mainly in the reduction of overlapping areas. This means we can ensure that our crops only get what they really need, no more and no less. The farmer benefits financially because we can save up to 6% of the crop protection chemical by reducing overlaps and thanks to high edge precision.
And this also helps the environment because we can already set up virtual protection zones in the office using the operations center, for example, for the protection of water bodies. In addition, the use of this technology also supports a positive public image of agriculture. We've not quite reached a reduction of 50% yet, but we've taken the first major step in the right direction. And that's what I call a smart solution. Sam.
