Technical overview of the John Deere R4140i and R4150i self-propelled sprayers. The presentation covers engine power, boom design, cab options, and telematics systems built into these agricultural machines.
So this is the R4150i self propelled sprayer, the larger of our two self propelled sprayers for the UK and Irish markets. So we have the R4140i with 4000 litres and the R4150i with a 5000 litre solution tank. Both available with booms from 24 to 36 meters wide. Both machines feature a John Deere 6.8 litre PowerTech PVS engine with a maximum output of 255 horsepower. Plenty of power to keep you moving in difficult conditions. All machines use an external final drive to take loading of the wheel away from the wheel motor for a longer life and improved durability. The 50km h version also comes with all round heavy duty disc brakes. Finally, the quad control transmission includes a cruise function so you can very easily dial up the speed at which you want to travel and return to that speed time and time again. The hydraulic track width adjustment system allows us to vary the wheel spacing between 1.85 and 2.85 metres to match different tram line or crop row widths. The Xtraflex individual wheel suspension provides cushioning at each wheel using a large triple convolute airbag. It gives a superb ride in even the roughest conditions. These new sprayers are equipped with our unique dual circuit power spray solution system. Filling is automatically controlled. I just type in the amount that I'd like to put into my solution tank and hit start and it fills to the correct level and automatically stops. Power spray allows us to fill this 5,000 litre tank in only four minutes. Now, with such a high filling capacity, getting your plant protection products in there could be an issue. This is where power spray has a really great trick up its sleeve. So as soon as we hit the switch for the induction hopper, the flow from the filling pump into the tank stops. But the filling pump continues to run, supplying as much clean water as we would ever need at the induction hopper. So you can continue to put product into the induction hopper with no race against the filling tank. Filling your sprayer has never been so easy and stress free. So the boom is a heavy duty steel design that encases the stainless steel spray lines for protection of the nozzles and the nozzle bodies. The Terrain Control Pro automatic boom levelling system uses either three or five sensors. The boom levelling sensors have a unique hybrid mode which measures the distance between the ground and the crop simultaneously. They give better performance in down crop, where the crop hasn't met in the rows or where we've Got turning strips. The optional exactapply intelligent nozzle system gives us a range of benefits including individual nozzle control and a B switching either manually or automatically between two nozzles from the cab. ExactApply also includes pulse width modulation switching the nozzles either 15 or 30 times a second. PWM gives us other benefits including turn compensation and the ability to set the pressure and choose the droplet size that we need for the job. For nozzle testing or checking, XactApply comes with a remote control that we can use to switch externally either individual nozzles or individual sections of the boom. Now let's focus in on the new cab of the R4140 and R4150i sprayers. We offer these machines with either a deluxe or a premium cab. These new cabs are quieter, feature a new panoramic windscreen and a new high back seat. Deluxe cab options have a cloth seat, but machines with this premium cab have a heated and ventilated leather seat, leather steering wheel and a premium Bluetooth radio to give hands free calling. The new command arm layout puts controls like the electronic engine throttle, tread width adjustment, pressure adjustment and the nozzle selection for exact apply at your fingertips. The new ergonomic joystick design includes controls for boom raise and lower boom variable geometry section switching and also includes autotrac automatic guidance and the Terrain Command Pro automatic boom leveling system. The 4640 display is now mounted on the end of the armrest so it moves along with the seat as you bounce along bumpy fields. It includes all the information you need to operate your sprayer to control exact apply and also includes Autotrac automatic guidance. The R4140i and 4150i are also connected sprayers. They're fitted as standard with John Deere's JDLink telematics system. JDLink gives me a number of useful features like for example, remote display access so that if I need to, my dealer can dial into the display and see what I see sat in the seat. We also get wireless data transfer so that I can transfer prescription maps from the farm office out to the field. When I've sprayed the field, transfer my application map back to the farm office using the myjohndeer.com environment. So the R4140i and R4150i are very durable and reliable machines built for many years of comfortable and productive spraying.
