Real Farmer Reviews of JOHN DEERE 7R in Action!

This is a YouTube video titled "Real Farmer Reviews of JOHN DEERE 7R in Action!" featuring a detailed monologue by a farmer from Dinnington, South Yorkshire, describing their family-owned cereal farm operations, equipment choices, and experiences with John Deere tractors, particularly the 7R model. The content is a single-speaker review focused on agricultural machinery and farming practices.
So we're here on our site at Dinnington, South Yorkshire. We have another one in East Markham which is into Nottinghamshire. We're an 800 hectare family owned cereal farm growing winter wheat, winter barley, spring oats, spring barley. This year along with some SFI and stewardship options. We're a predominantly min till farm along with some direct drilling depending on the circumstances and the crops. We're trying to establish whatever method works best for us in a particular year. Tend to have a fairly flexible approach, especially after this previous six months we've had have been the most trying of my career. So we want some flexibility. Currently we're running three John Deere tractors. We've got a 7R 350 which is behind me and we've got a 6250R and a 6195R. So we chose the 7R because we wanted a tractor that was high horsepower, you know, 350 or so plus, but equally wanted something that was sensible for transport work when needed. Being the size we are, we want to run a small but modern fleet of tractors. So they've got to be pretty multipurpose. So with the 7R we'll use it for heavy draft work, drilling, trailer work, fertiliser spreading, you know, whatever we need it to do. We took the decision to put a belly weight on it as it looked like a good option to weight the tractor up towards what an 8R is for draft work. It goes on when it wants to be on heavy draft and it might stay on there for a few weeks but you know, it's a 10 minute job to drop it on or off so it gives us that flexibility. It can be sat there going and pulling a 9 meter set of discs one day and drop the weight off on a trailer carting grain the next day, you know, with minimal disruption. Yes, the wheel weights were slightly cheaper but you know, you factor in that, you know you're going to save fuel, you know you're going to save tyre wear, it's safer, it's easier. It all added up to a pretty no brainer decision for me. People put wheel weights on a tractor and say well yeah, we'll take them off when we want to do so and so. And let's be brutally honest, most people don't take the wheel weights off because it's hard work. So with the 7L, I find it a very comfortable tractor to drive and pleasant place to be. It's big, airy cab, massaging seat, fridge, apple carplay for all your, you know, mod cons. The suspension works well, you know, it's cracking. Tractor to drive.
