This is a YouTube video titled "Real-time Data on Crop Quality while harvesting with John Deere GRAIN SENSING" featuring Tom Burnett from J &J Burnett's farm in Newark Nottinghamshire. The content is a detailed monologue discussing the benefits of using Harvest Lab technology for real-time protein data during harvest, enabling better crop management and financial decisions on their family-owned farm.
I am Tom Burnett, from J &J Burnett's Newark Nottinghamshire. We're a family owned farm with owned land, contract farming and FBT's. We're covering 1 ,600 hectares of combineables, 500 hectares of potatoes, and the remainder maize crops grown from anaerobic digestors. Our first impressions of harvest lab running at this season has just been the data that it is fetching us. It's data that we haven't seen in real time before. With all of our own wheat being milling spec wheat, it is crucial that we know the protein. Previous harvests, before purchasing harvest lab, we used an in -office protein meter, which we were constantly fetching samples off the combine in the field. So there's a lot more running around for me and the farm manager. Now it is there real time. We can access it on our phone in the office for ops centre, and that week then can be tipped in whichever shed that we feel that needs to go into. This catchy weather we've had this harvest lab has allowed us to go into different fields in one block. If one field has got a low protein content and we know the weather is going to change tonight, we can then concentrate on the better protein crops to get them in for yet more rain. Financial benefits of running harvest lab on our combine this year is we know what we have got in the shed. We've got one shed Pacific for high protein that will meet our top contract, which will save less load cancellations, which will create less food miles. With the protein and coverage maps the harvest lab is creating for us, we are going to target different areas of that field with nitrogen vario rate plans to create a higher protein map across the field. In my opinion, running harvest lab on new combines is a must for me. It's created protein coverage maps that we've never been able to see before in fields, and that is allowing us to make financial decisions where needed.
