Rowles Farm - Part 1 | John Deere

This is a YouTube video titled "Rowles Farm - Part 1 | John Deere" featuring a conversation between Tom and his twin brother Will, who discuss their family farm operations, machinery, and new John Deere equipment. The content, created in December 2020, provides insights into their mixed farming activities and detailed descriptions of the latest farming technology they are using.
Hi, I'm Tom, this is my twin brother Will and my older sister Georgie. My granddad started farming the land here at rolls farm 1969. 50 years as you say. Yeah, well 51 if you actually got good mass, but yeah. And we're third generation farmers behind our dad, the old man. So we're a mixed farm. We run a thousand hectares arable of which wheat, barley, oilseed rape and we're trying a field of linseed for the first time. And we've got about 700 sheep and about 50 cattle, beef cows and two other alpacas. Alpacas. Brian and Norman, you can't forget the alpacas. Yeah, I'll pack up my bag soon. Yeah. Most of machinery is done Deere. You've got a Dundeer combine which was new last year. It's F790 with a 35 foot traer header on the front of it. Went really well.
Yeah, it did.
I thought it definitely increased our efficiency and our throughput was also increased as well, wasn't it? Feeding the crop nicely through the combine head first. We've moved from SF, SF1, so just the standard guidance John Deere guidance system to the full RTK where we've gone really precision well to be precise on drilling and where tram lines are going to be in the same spot every year. We're not controlled traffic farming but we're looking to go sort of that way where we're only putting wheelings where we want the wheelings to be in the fields. So we're currently halfway through our winter wheat drilling. We've got Zyot milling winter wheat. We're just putting in the ground now. We'll have a John Deere on a horse avatar doing your drilling and then hopefully if it's dry enough, get the rollers going. Yeah, yeah.
Good shout.
Who's that? Henry from John Deere. Oh, awesome. What's that? What did he say? Henry's bringing a brand new 8R to the farm. God, that'd be good. That'd be good. Fun to hopefully get that on the rollers. Perfect. I will be driving that.
We'll see about that. So guys, what do you think? New ATAR 410 from John Deere.
A bit of a beast.
It's a bit of a beast. So we've got new styling features on this machine courtesy of BMW Design Works in California. So they looked at the whole machine, they've done the inside and the outside. So you've got the new lights, we've got this new hood and also the camera on the front there. So one thing you'll notice with these machines is it's the 8R 410 rather than the 8410R. That's the same across the unbeaten series with these new 7 and 8R tractors. So one of the other features on here is the new beacons, LED beacons. And then also you've got the new Starfire receiver built into the roof. So in this machine we've got the new 9 litre PowerTech PSS engine from John Deere Stage 5 emissions, putting out that 410 horsepower. So lads, who's going first?
I will.
Okay, Rock, paper, scissors.
One, two, three. Come on.
So I really like this new cab. It's a real game changer in the industry. I really like this new active seat too with the 40 degree right hand swivel and then 25 left. So a total 65 degree swivel makes it so much easier for drilling. And you've got these rodeo bars as well to put your feet up on. So really comfy. I personally love that you've got the Gen 4 display uniform across the John Deere fleet as well as the new design steering column. You've got the new entertainment system up at the top there. Touch screen. Plug your phone in, get Apple CarPlay running through there, get some nice tunes going. Also in here we've got this fridge unit here and then you've got this nice dummy seat here. Move up and you've got more cubby storage under here. Really roomy.
It's comfy. Massage seat's good.
Massage seat's a really nice touch as well.
Yeah.
On this one you've got the same looking command arm as what you've got in your S790 combine. You've got the joystick on the right hand side for the front hitch and the pto you've got the massage function of the seat as well, with not only heated but also air cooled.
Yeah, that feels good.
So Tom, do you have any further questions?
I think. Let's see what this beast can do.
