Learn how to set up equipment in the John Deere Operations Center using the Equipment Tool and JDLink connectivity. The tutorial covers activating JDLink modems, managing equipment, and using monitoring features to track your machines.
The Equipment Tool and Operations center is the one place for total equipment management with easy to find details for your equipment so it's connected and ready to work when you are. Your operation and your equipment create a lot of data. Those who use it can focus on getting the most from your investments and getting the job done right. In this video we will cover three what is a JDLink modem, what is JDLink connectivity, and the equipment tool? A JDLink modem is a hardware device that connects the machine to online tools such as operations center and JDLink modems collect and transmit machine and agronomic data. In the world of precision agriculture, modems allow data to move to and from the in cab display. Each modem has a unique serial number which can be viewed in several places within Operations Center. For example, within the Equipment Tool modem serial numbers and equipment that modems are paired with can be seen in the Devices tab as well as in the Pairings section of the Open equipment details panel. JDLink connectivity is the service that allows machine and agronomic data to flow automatically between connected equipment and the John Deere Operations Center. Machine requires an up to date modem and related hardware as well as JDLink connectivity service which can be turned on through the Equipment Tool and Operations Center. You can turn on JDLink connectivity on all compatible machines at no additional cost. Connectivity Service is no longer subscription or time based and once enabled will remain enabled for as long as compatible modems are present. Navigate to the Equipment Tool by going to the Setup menu. Your John Deere dealer will help you add and manage equipment in your organization. After a partnership is established, your dealer can transfer equipment and JDLink modems to your organization. Your next step is to make sure JDLink connectivity is activated. Select the equipment that you wish to activate with JDLink connectivity service by choosing it from either the Machines, Implements or Devices list within the Equipment Tool. Once selected, an Equipment Details panel will open on the right hand side of the screen. Scroll down through the Information section of the Equipment Details panel to the Connectivity portion and select Activate. Review the Telematics service agreement and accept the terms. If you wish to continue at the end of the Connectivity Activation workflow, you will have the opportunity to enable automatic enrollment in connectivity. Automatic enrollment in connectivity enables future eligible equipment that is transferred into the organization to have Connectivity Service automatically applied and turned on at the time that the equipment is added to the organization. The equipment list has tabs to organize your machines, implements and devices. From here you can see specific information like machine and Implement details, connectivity status and pairings to help you understand how your machines, devices and implements are linked to each other. When a machine implement or device is selected, the right hand panel will automatically open to display more information. You can utilize these tabs on the right hand side of your screen, or you can expand the panel to full screen for easier viewing. The panel contains four additional tabs. The information presents basic information about the machine. Here you have the ability to change the machine name and check in on its status. You can review its engine hours, current location, and last call in time. Follow the links here to view the machine on the map, view machine analyzer data, or begin an RDA session. The Characteristics and Offsets tab lets you review and edit offsets for your machine and GPS receiver. The Pairings section within the Information tab allows you to see the modem display or eligible implements that are paired with your equipment, as well as their settings, such as the software version currently installed. This Pairings section is also where you can pair your equipment, change existing pairings, or simply unpair your equipment. The Services and Support tab is where you can find the modem's GPS antenna status, review call and history for your equipment, and find links to support resources for parts, software updates, locating a dealer, and more. The action buttons located on the top right hand corner of the equipment tool allow you to quickly and easily manage your connected fleet. From here you can add new equipment, transfer equipment out of your organization, and request that equipment be transferred into your organization. Delete equipment that is not paired with a modem, and export a list of all your existing equipment. There are many informational articles to help you as you use Operations Center. Navigate to the Assistance menu and select Help Documentation. In this video, you've learned a few things to get you started with equipment. Thanks for watching.
