This is a YouTube video titled "Sustainable Cotton Farming | John Deere Cotton Club Series, Australian Cotton Conference 2022" containing a multi-speaker discussion from September 14, 2022. The participants, identified only as Speaker A, B, C, and D, discuss challenges in cotton farming such as labor shortages, rising input costs, biosecurity, and the role of technology and innovation. They focus on the MYBNP (Management Framework) and BMP (Best Management Practices) programs aimed at sustainable farming and how John Deere's technology supports growers in meeting certification and accreditation requirements. The content is a panel or group talk related to sustainable cotton farming practices and industry collaboration.
Well, look, at the moment, one of the big challenges that we're facing is a shortage of labour. And, you know, you certainly talk to, you know, the growers and they're struggling to find the workers for their farm. I think the, you know, rising input costs are also something that are of concern to growers and they often raise biosecurity as an issue. You know, we're always worried about incursions of pests and diseases. Oh, certainly, you know, technology and innovation is going to help us overcome a number of these things.
The MYBNP is a management framework that customers can utilise to start implementing more sustainable practices on farm.
So BMP is made up of 10 modules covering water, soil, biosecurity and the grower works through those modules and does a checklist item to rate themselves against the industry best practice and the legal requirements for certain aspects of farming.
So a lot of our growing are engaging in the MYBNP accreditation. It's something that the cotton industry very, very much promotes on the ground, directly with our growers and our growers are taking that on board for themselves and also being active and proactive in the industry.
Yeah, John Deere definitely have a role in helping growers achieve certification from ibmp. Their innovation and technology helps growers keep their records and helps them meet their MYBNP requirements during audits.
So in terms of collaboration with the cotton we see at John Deere, there's real opportunity within the MYBMP program to leverage information that our machines are creating to deliver straight into the MYBMP program. So that's about reducing data entry for customers, making the system more streamlined and really simplifying MYBNP accreditation for farmers.
