Hey, I'm Jamie Norris. I'm with the Sun South in Brundidge, Alabama, a John Deere dealer. Today we're gonna go over the top 5 questions you should be asking if you are a first-time tractor buyer. So the first question you should be asking yourself is, what am I gonna use the tractor for? Am I fixing the driveway? Am I digging a hole? Am I putting up fence? I mean, what are you gonna be doing with it? Do you need a loader and a bucket? Do you need a bush hog? Are you keeping up some pasture land? Are you planting food plots? So the first question you should really be asking you should be asking yourself is, what am I going to be doing with it? The second question you should ask yourself, how much horsepower do I need? You always want plenty enough horsepower. You don't ever want to buy a tractor and then come back 6 months later thinking, man, I wish I'd have bought that next size up, because by then it's kind of too late. Um, so be thinking, I mean, are you keeping up 2 or 3 acres? Are you keeping up 50 acres? Is it 1 or 2 food plots, or is it 50 food plots? I mean, you really need to be thinking about the the size of what you're going to be doing as to how much horsepower you're going to need. You also need to look at what implements you want to run and make sure you get enough horsepower to run those implements. You want to run a 12-foot batwing, you obviously need enough power to run that. Uh, if you just want to run a 4 or 5-foot cutter, uh, you know, you won't, won't require near as much power. So just something to think about, uh, make sure you get enough power in your tractor. The next thing you need to think about is what size tractor do I need, and I mean like physical size. Do you need Do you need a tractor that's, you know, about the size of a truck, or do you need something smaller, you know, a little bit more compact, tight spaces? Or do you want a big cab tractor with air and a radio and a buddy seat? I mean, really be thinking about what size, where you're going to store it, whether or not you're going to haul it. Uh, you know, a truck like— I mean, a tractor like this could be hauled with a half-ton pickup truck. Uh, that's all you have, then you want to buy a tractor that you can haul, uh, you know, where you don't have to replace truck and trailer as well. The fourth question, uh, what attachments will I need? So a tractor is great, tractor loaders, great combo, but you're really gonna want some attachments. Do you want a box blade? Do you need a rotary cutter? Do you need a post hole digger? Um, a planter? I mean, there's endless attachments. So, uh, be thinking about it because, uh, if you buy your attachments and you buy John Deere attachments with a John Deere tractor, they can all get the same low rate financing. So really important at the time you buy the tractor to be thinking about those attachments. The fifth question when buying a tractor is, what is my budget? How much money do I want to spend? Um, you could, you could look at it several ways. If you want to pay cash for it up front, a lot of times several models have cash rebates. Uh, several models also carry 0% interest, uh, for various terms. So that'd be something you need to ask your dealer about. Uh, so really figure out what is in in your price range. I mean, you never know, John Deere might surprise you. They run a lot of specials, and a lot of times we are not any more expensive than the competition, and you get a true John Deere tractor.
