John Deere walks through the X9 1000 and X9 1100 combine models, covering engine power, harvesting technology, crop versatility, and cab comfort. The video focuses on design innovations and operator features across both machines.
Today we're going to look at our new X9 combines from John Deere and the latest in front end equipment. The X9 combine has been developed around four main maximum performance, maximum efficiency, best crop versatility and also best in class operator comfort. So, looking at maximum performance, we're starting with our feeder house. This feeder house and that channel width of 1720 continues right through the entire body of the machine, including the rotors and the cleaning shoe. That 1720mm body width is 23% larger than what our current S series have. But not only that, we've redesigned our mid floor and also our front drum, giving us a 45% larger intake capacity than our current S series. At the top of our feedhouse we have our eight wing chevron fast. This is there to divide the crop and accelerate it into our rotors, delivering it at a 270 degree wrap angle. This uniformly fills our rotors and prepares it for the threshing. From our outwing fast, we have three elements. First, the feeding section where the speed flights accelerate the crop into the rotors. From there, the crop passes into our threshing area. We have 1.6 meters squared of threshing area which the crop passes over 2 1/2 times. This means we have an effective threshing area of 4 meters squared. The crop then passes into our separation area where we have 3.15 meters squared of separator grates which the crop passes over seven times. This delivers us a whopping 22.5 meters squared of separator area in our XDS rotors. As the crop leaves the rotors, it goes under one final separator grate which is just under half a meter squared. This brings our total threshing and separation area to a massive 26.5 meters squared. This results in the X9 combine delivering maximum performance even in the toughest wet conditions. To make sure we maintain the fantastic grain quality which is true to all of our John Deere combines, we've developed this brand new Dynaflow Plus XL cleaning shoe. It's got a total sieve area of 7 meters squared, which is the biggest on the market today and guarantee our cleanliness of grain even in those tough conditions. This new cleaning shoe also features a new quad turbine fan setup to deliver maximum airflow over all elements of the cleaning shoe. This enables the X9 combines to utilise a high volume low pressure philosophy, maintaining grain quality while reducing losses. To guarantee that the X9 combine is working to maximum performance at all times and you're not being held back by returns, we fitted them with a rethrasher similar to what we had on our S series combines. This is own drum and concave to rethrash any of that material in your returns and evenly distribute it over the entire width of the return pan above our sieves. Sticking with that 17 20mm body width we talked about at the front of the machine. We retain that the whole way through and the chopper is no Exception. The new 124 knife extra fine cut chopper on these X9 combines produces a beautiful fine cut in all conditions. In those really tough conditions we have 61 stationary knives that we can extend or retract from the cab remotely to increase or decrease chopping performance. To increase efficiency, our engineers have looked at all avenues. One such obvious example of this is our XL chopper knives that feature a new dimple design to disrupt airflow, reduce back pressure and decrease fuel consumption. Our new powercast tailboard is mechanically driven from our chopper. From the cab we can control our spread width as well as our offset left to right with the auto swap function. From the cab, the operator can change from windrowing to chopping straw simply from the cab. Our chop to drop door moves up allowing a beautiful uniform square shaped swath to exit out over the rear of the tailboard while all of our chaff spreads out to the full width through our powercast tailboard. Our X9 1000 comes with a 14,800 litre grain tank while our X9 1100 comes with a 16,200 litre grain tank. As with our S series combines, the X9s can be equipped with our active yield weighing system. This gives on the go live yield data accurate without the need for calibration. Unloading rates are up to 186 litres a second and to make sure we can maintain full harvesting speed we have up to 54 horsepower power boost function while unloading. We also have our new active spout function where the operator can control the unloading boot in and out to direct the flow of grain further away or closer to the combine as required to evenly fill trailers. To get things moving, the X9 combines feature a whole new Prodrive XL transmission. These offer 30% greater torque for better climbing ability and also better efficiency in the field and on the road. With a maximum transport speed of 40 km an hour. Despite the massive body width of this combine, the Transport width on 24 inch tracks is still under 3.5 meters wide. @ the heart of this machine is the new 13.6 litre John Deere Powertech engine delivering up to 700 horsepower. One of the major benefits of this new engine and new driveline that we have on our X9 combines is the new Harvest Motion concept. This has reduced engine RPM from 2100-1900rpm, seeing a 20% increase in fuel economy and allowing us an extra 30% of available torque. The new Commandview 3 cab is packed full of new technology to improve operator comfort for those long harvesting days. Operators will appreciate a further 20% reduction in noise inside the cab over our existing models. Customers running the latest John Deere tractors and S series combines will be familiar with the Gen 4 armrests and displays. This machine is also fitted with the optional extended monitor so allow all harvesting data and analysis to be on screen at any one time. The new Commandview 3 cab also comes with the latest in seat technology featuring Active Seat 2 which features the best ride comfort on the market as well as a 16 degree right and left movement to allow operators full view of the platform uninterrupted. The new seat also has the optional massaging function along with heating and cooling. The new Commandview 3 cab is packed full of new technology to improve operator comfort for those long harvesting days. The CommandView 3 cab also features this brand new touchscreen DAB digital radio with Android and Apple connectivity. To match the massive output of our X9 combines we needed a header that could keep up with it and here we have it, the new HTX header from John Deere. Our HDX headers feature a 4 inch double cut knife system producing twice the amount of cuts per minute of many other headers on the market. One of the big differences you'll see with this Draper header over anything else you've seen on the market are these new grainsaver belts. These belts have specifically been designed for handling crops such as horseed rape. You'll notice this pattern in the top of the belts alleviates any chance of grain running down the belt and out the front of the header which has been traditional with many Draper headers out there on the market. The other big difference is the depth of the belt. You can see here we have 1200 millimetres of clearance between the knife and the back of the header, meaning that we have huge capacity to dealing with these tall Aussie rate crops. At the rear of the header we have these large diameter augers with the centre sections with fingers on them to help pull material down onto the belt and and transport it to the centre of the machine maintaining a head first feeding at all times. The belts bring the crop to the centre of the machine head first and present the crop evenly to create a uniform crop mat. Entering the machine, you'll also notice the huge clearance we have under our reel. This is perfect for dealing with those tall, bushy oilseed rape crops. All of the features this header has in oilseed rape of course transpires into the other crops such as wheat and barley, where these headers perform fantastically. The huge capacity of the open throat allows us to get the maximum amount of material and have limitless performance in all crops. These headers are also fantastic in down and laid crop due to their very low profile. Design of the knife to skid arrangement means they can get under nearly all crops without the need for lifters. Crop to crop changeover takes a matter of minutes. Those of you familiar with our X Series platform will already be aware of how fast it is to unattach our side knives and reattach our dividers. Another major advantage that these HDX headers have is its pivoting frame and the fact that the header runs on these four wheels, two left and two right. These allow the two wings to oscillate independently of the combine and of each other, allowing them to follow ground contours no matter what your stubble height. Every aspect of these x9 combines have been engineered to deliver maximum output, maximum efficiency, best crop versatility and the utmost in operator comfort. The new X9 1000 and X9 1100 combines are more than just game changers. They're the dawn of a new era of combine performance.
