#457 Ruts, Routines, Procrastination & Motivation
29 Jan 2026 · 48 min
Episode #457 (hosted by Summer McStravick) teaches the Flow Dreaming technique and applies it to ruts, routines, procrastination, and restoring motivation. Summer explains the concept of emotional endpoints, 'ceilings' (inner blocks) that cause procrastination, and the lack cycle; she gives listeners practical prompts (e.g., "My rut is showing me the ceiling of...") and runs live coaching calls (Patty, Linda) plus a short guided flow dream exercise. The episode also promotes the MI School of Flow, playlists for getting unstuck/overcoming procrastination, and a free tutorial at FlowDreaming.com.

Flow Dreaming.
It's a show where we talk about the power of your mind to change your world around you, to literally affect the fabric of your reality. We talk about this feeling of hope and joy and relief, and that is what being aware of your flow does. It gives you a feeling of power again in your lives. Oh, my God. You are so on target. You are so amazing. I can't thank you enough.
Breathe.
It is the feeling that you bring forward. It is your emotional connection that really sets the tone for what is going to be happening to you and for you. And you know that feeling, when you touch it, it just spreads through you. Thank you for taking my call.
I don't know why I feel like crying.
I think I just feel your love. Of course. And I think I'm gonna get some ANSWERS. I'm Summer McStravik, and welcome to another episode of Flow Dre. Hey, everybody, it's Summer. How are you today? Wonderful, I hope. Welcome to Flow Dreaming, which is a program, a show, a podcast that's been going on for 10 years. Can you believe that? I think back then, there was only me and this American Life, and, like, 10 of us. No, no, I'm kidding. More than 10. More than 10. But we're still going strong, and we're going to be planning something fun later this year to celebrate the fact that we've been on this long. So, speaking of being on air, being a podcast, being a live radio program, by the way, that's taped for the podcast, what that means is that you can call in, you can go to show archives. There's a lot you can do. There's even an app that you can get on your phone or your tablet or pad that will allow you to scroll through all of the episodes, look through them, mark ones that are fascinating or interesting, kind of star them, or bookmark them. It's pretty cool. So do check it out. It's all called Flow Dreaming, of course. Also on itunes, if you rate or review the app, I always send you tons of flowy smooches out into the ethers for thanking you for helping me with that. It really does help build the podcast, in fact, 10 years, all word of mouth, not one drop of advertising ever to be done for this program, which is pretty darn amazing. So that means that the bar is high. I have to step up and give you some good quality stuff every single week, and that is my aim. We talk about Flow Dreaming here, which is a technique. It's a way to manifest and create stuff for yourself, to nudge your Future down the track that you want it to go, start seeing things that you're really gunning for actually occur and come to you, you know, belong to you in your life. That said, there is a whole backdrop to this practice of flow dreaming. And that has to do with all kinds of internal and personal changes. I've discovered through the years that simply teaching someone how to flow dream is a good start because it wakes them up to the fact that you've got control over your life. And once you figure that out, you can never go backwards in your thinking again about it. But once you realize that, you understand that all of your limitations and ceilings are essentially self created. And if you want to ask for or create ever bigger things in our life, like one of the phrases we use a lot here is go big. Are you ready to go big? Go big. What does that mean? We each have a personal, I don't know, something that leaps up inside us when we hear that phrase go big. It's just for you. It's not my idea of going big. It's not your friend's idea, it's yours, whatever that means. And that thing that leaps up is trying to tell you, hey, let's break out, let's go forward, let's move into something. And that's where we start to see ceilings, blocks, resistance, stuff that's got to get worked out. So as it turns out, flow dream is also a perfect vehicle for working out that kind of stuff. Not only do you manifest your future, do you create for yourself and even for others, but you can recreate who you are, you can recreate yourself internally. You can create new characteristics, you can flush out and release old things about yourself that you no longer need. We work in the realm of pure energy, thought, consciousness and power. And it's not airy, fairy flighty stuff. We do real things that create real energetic movement and change. And the way you see this and know this is occurring is your life starts to reflect the internal interior energy work that you do. Practice flow dreaming long enough and you're going to see some significant changes in your life just over and over. Just thousands of students at this point. Some of you know, I have something called the MI School of Flow. It is the culmination of many years of teaching many different kinds of programs. It is amazing. It is the process that walks you through all of this. A to B start. Excuse me, A to B, A to Z start to finish. The whole point of it is total internal change that is then reflected in external change, creating what you want Creating who you are. The real you may the real you step out. So you can find out about all this@flowdreaming.com that is my website. There's also something pretty cool there. I give you a tutorial, free teaching. It's like an audio instruction. It's my gift bag for you, my downloadable gift bag. And I give you a flow dream to get started with. So do check it out. Yeah. Now onto our topic for the day. Because we're always exploring different ways to use energy here, right? For that reason, I don't even have guests on very often. I used to. Sometimes I do. I guess it just depends on what year it is, what kind of mood I'm in for the year. But lately I've been doing a lot, a lot of teaching and a lot of demonstration through your phone calls and kind of working things out with you as we move through the program. Also, we do a flow dream together every podcast, so stay tuned for that. It will be on today's topic, which is Ruts Routines, procrastination and motivation. So I just want to give a quick thank you, a shout out to Christina Homami, Leoni, Al Jo, Anastasio, you all posted on my Facebook page offering me show ideas. Thank you. Every so often I'll send out a little note to the universe saying, if you want me to comment or teach on something or share a flow perspective on something, the way something works, for instance, let me know. Give me your thoughts and ideas. And the three of them all stuck their hand up and said, ruts routine, help me get me out. Now, this is a little bit different than getting unstuck, right? That's a different podcast I have done before. I'm going to work you through the place of why are you stuck? Why are you in a rut? What is the routine? How did it get there? And then how does procrastination fit in? Why are you applying procrastination to something that you clearly feel in a rut, right? You're just kind of backing it up with not doing anything about it. Like you're feeling everything is the same and not going anywhere and yet you're not making any effort to change it. And then you just kick yourself that you need motivation. Total waste of emotional energy. So we're going to fix that right up. There are two playlists right off the bat that I'm going to recommend for this playlist, by the way, are collections of recorded audio flow dreams that you can use and practice with to actually move this energy out of your life or move a new kind of energy into your life. They're not meditation. These move energy. They do things for you. So one of them is called the Get Unstuck playlist. It includes the flow dreams, action action, crystal clarity and effortless decision making. The other one is the Stop Procrastinating playlist, which includes releasing clutter and clearing obstacles out of your life and specifically overcoming procrastination. So keep those both in mind. They're@flowdreaminc.com so let's look at the idea of what a rut or a routine means. We all have them. We all have multiple ruts and routines in our life. Actually, mine is I usually go to bed at the same bedtime. I usually do the same thing at bedtime. I usually do my grocery shopping on Fridays. I have a routine of taking and picking up my kids from school. There's a lot of things I do that are smaller routines within my day because they work, right. I sit down and usually start working around 8 in the morning. I'm trying to create a new workout routine right now. Some routines are very beneficial for us, very helpful, right? They help us move through activities that have to be moved through, have to be attended to. And if we always had to think about it and think, well, when am I going to grocery shop this week? Well, you know, when will I work out? And you're always having to juggle stuff. You're actually wasting energy, you're wasting emotional focus, you're wasting a bit of your life. The routine can be extremely helpful. The point, though, when a routine becomes unhelpful is when you start to feel that it's not really improving anything. It's not doing much for me anymore. It's just there. It's that feeling of, oh my God, I woke up to go to work again and I really don't want to go, I am so over this job, or, okay, I'm going to go out with my, you know, significant other. And our relationship is so stale right now. Or I'm in a rut in that I want to lose that weight, but I just never do anything about it. And I'm really tired of trying to do things about it, right? Rut, rut, rut. Three scenarios that are all telling you something very similar. You have outgrown where you now are, yet you don't know what to do next. And so you start to feel that sense of, I'm not going anywhere. This routine is not helpful to me. This routine is now just there because I don't know what to replace it with. Now let's go deeper into that energy. I don't know what to replace it with because on one level, that might be true, but on another level, it's not true at all. You always know the emotional endpoint that you want to feel. For those of you who are new, the emotional endpoint is how you want to feel in your life in any given area. I know how you want to feel about your health. You want to feel vibrant, fit, healthy, strong, beautiful or handsome, whatever it is. You want those feelings about yourself. You want to put on that sundress from two years ago or five years ago and say it fits, and I feel great about myself. That's your emotional endpoint. That's what you really want. There's nothing rutty about that. It's not that you don't know, you know, the rut is that I don't know how to get there. I'm not sure how to get. I'm afraid to get there. I'm afraid it won't work to get there. See how all this other energy starts to get mixed in? How about that one of. I'm just so over this job. I'm in a rut. I don't know what to do about it. I know your emotional endpoint. I'm enthusiastic about the way I spend my time. I love what I do every day. It is meaningful to me. It pays me well. It pays me at a level that I feel like this is important. I'm important. I'm contributing, and I'm getting what I need to be comfortable in my own life. That is how I feel. I feel comfort. I feel interest. I feel a sense of being needed or being good at something, being of value. Right? Those are feelings, right? Feelings, feelings, feelings, feelings. The area that you're getting stuck at is you're not ever reaching the feeling points. You're just staying in the frustration point, not going to your actual emotional endpoint. In essence, you're stopping short of your emotional end points in these areas, and you're just rehashing the frustration over and over. It's like looking at what you have and going, I hate it. All right, I'm going to look what I have and go, I hate it. Okay, I got to look at what I have again. I hate it. You see, that's a very short little loop. It's a teensy, tiny little cycle. I have it. I hate it. I have it. I hate it. I have it. I'm frustrated. I have it. I'm. I Have it. I'm in a rut. I have it. I'm bored. I have it. I'm. What are you telling the universe? What are you creating? The universe is listening to you flow, patterning itself. It's patterning its future based on what you're giving to it right now. And what you're giving to it right now is the acknowledgement that what you have, you dislike and you feel boxed in and stagnant. Flo says, all right, apparently we're not moving any further than that. Okay, we'll just keep that up for you. We'll just reflect that. We'll continue to give that to you. Right. So that's the most basic thing, the first thing you have to start being aware of. Are you reaching your true and correct emotional endpoint, or are you stopping short out of habit? Okay, you say, all right, Summer, I will start catching myself. Then what? Then what? Well, when you think about going to those emotional endpoints, how you actually feel, and you're saying, I love my work, I love my body, I love my partner, I love my family. Whatever it is, wherever the feeling is you're creating in that rut or routine, you go, okay, well, how do I get from A to B? I'm going to feel it. And you're telling me that flow is going to now start showing up with new opportunities that are going to reflect what I'm now feeling? My answer is yes, but I know what will happen at that point. It's called your ceiling, your block, your restriction, your limitation. You can call it whatever you want. Your past life, your karma, call it whatever you want. It's the thing that pops up in between you leaving where you are now and reaching and accepting and receiving what the universe has for you next. That's in your true emotional ballpark. In that little journey, things come up. Like, I'm actually not sure if what I'm hoping for will really work or not. So it's hard for me to feel that emotional endpoint because I don't really know how I get there. In fact, it might be boring where I now am, but at least it's safe, what I'm reaching for. What if it's not safe? What if I can't do it? What if I get there and I discover it's actually worse than where I am now? Or what if I actually have to know what I want before I start doing things, to get there, before I start making changes? What if I have to know first? What if I have to think for hours and days and Months and really know. Well, I really can't start making changes then until I really know. And the thing is, I don't know what changes to make because I don't really know where I'm going. You see what all this thinking is doing? It's circling right back. You're starting out on a path forward, and this stuff comes up and you circle back in your head to where you started and you go, oh, I'm right here where I began. I'm in the rut again. I'm in the routine again. The stuff that's coming up, by the way, that's your deep stuff, that's your ceiling stuff. That's the stuff that says here is why you cannot have your emotional endpoint. And let me tell you the many reasons why you cannot have that. Let me tell you the many reasons why you shouldn't try that. Let me tell you the many reasons why you're not meant for that. You're not made for that. This is where the real work comes in. This is where the digging up comes in. This is why, you know, six or seven out of 10 people who try manifesting fail because they try manifesting and the stuff comes up and they stop and they go, what do I do with this? I don't know. They didn't teach me that part. This is why I teach that part. It's some of the most crucial part. What's the point of putting you in a race car and saying, go speed around the track. If you tap the gas pedal a few times and you go, oh, my God, this goes so fast. What if I get hurt? What if I break the car? What if I break myself? And then you just go, oh, I'm not really gonna go, right? That's where you need the training. That's where you need the hand holding. That's why learning to manifest is a truly transformative process. You change who you are and the world will change around you. Stop trying to change the world first. Stop trying to change the things in your life first. It is pointless. You will change them, and then they will snap right to where they were. And I know you've had that experience over and over. We all have. It's because what they're snapping back to is you inside. And if that person inside hasn't changed, things will go right back to that you inside. So if you start working with flow, you will change you inside. When you inside start changing, then the flow outside of you, the rest of your life, the future, everything else will change to match you. And that's where it gets really exciting, because now you're in motion. Now not only are you guiding and directing, but the universe is listening and responding, and it's not meeting any resistance inside of you. It can do anything for you because whatever it throws at you, you're saying, yep, caught that. Yep. I have the capacity for it. Yep. I can play with that. Get where I'm going here. So think about some of these things that are getting you caught up right in the middle. Now, when we get back, I have a little exercise for you. Oh, here. My trash truck outside. It's true. I taped this from my very own home office. So we'll come right back after this quick break, and we'll do a technique, a little exercise together. Get a pencil and paper, all right? Then we'll do some calls, and we'll do some Flow Dreaming to actually help you get rid of this. So stay with me. I be back in just a second. Hey, it's summer, and I have a few things that I wanted to share with you, like the happenings and the goings on@flowdreaming.com. so right now, my gorgeous, hugely amazing MI School of Flow is enrolling. That means I'm accepting students who will work with me for the year ahead. So you'll learn to do what I do. You'll create amazing stuff using flow energy as well as opening and expanding your own empathic intuition. I will teach you how. If you're ready to go big, this is where you need to be. MI School is also online, by the way, so you can live anywhere. Here's what you do. Just click or swipe over to FlowDreaming.com right now, and there will be a link to set up a Time to Talk to Me about Me School. And this is free, by the way. We'll get on the phone for at least 20 minutes and we'll talk about whether MI School is a good fit in your life. Now, there's a chance that you're listening to this as an older podcast, in which case enrollment may be closed, since I only open enrollment about once a year. And if that's the case, you'll have an option to get on the wait list for the next enrollment period, and we'll go from there. So, all right, then. I look forward to hearing from you and even more to getting to know you as one of my personal students in MI School. Now let's get back to our program, And welcome back to Flow Dreaming. Let's wrap up what I was just saying about those Things that pop up, right, that prevent you from having that motivation, right? You have labeled it procrastination, right? That's an overall blanket label. Procrastination is never the main issue. You would not procrastinate if you were completely clear of all of these things that are telling you no. It's the things that tell you no that are kind of grabbing onto you and holding you back. Right? Imagine yourself walking forward and someone grabs you by the shoulder with their hand and kind of holds you still. You call it procrastination, but it's actually being held. You're being held. You're being held by fear, indecision, being unsure, not wanting to take a risk. All kinds of these things coming up inside you now. What do most of these have in common? The lack cycle. The lack cycle. If you haven't heard that series of podcasts, I did them earlier this year. Go back and try and find them. See if they're still available in the free archives. They'll really ground you in what that is and how it continuously manifests itself in our life. We have to keep pulling weeds of the lack cycle out. But the lack cycle says things like, well, if you do that, if you actually had the energy and you went forward and you did it and you felt the motivation, what if you end up worse off than where you are now? What if it's a wrong choice? What if you screw up? What if you give up something and then you realize later, ooh, I actually wanted that. Or what if. What if you start making changes, right? You feel that motivation, feel motivated, and it ends up not working at all, just like nothing happens and you've wasted all that time and energy and it's broken your heart and you feel like a failure. Oh, what if that happens? What if you start doing it and then you end up, you know, realizing this totally isn't for me and it wasn't what you wanted in the first place and now you're. You're stuck, you're screwed. What if. See what's happening in every case, you are pre acting failure. You're preacting fear instead of looking at your future and anticipating it will be good. I will do well with this. Even if resistance comes up, it's going to be my friend and it's going to be helpful to me. I'm going to figure out what I need to know through it. Instead, what you're fearing is I'm going to do this and it's not going to work out or I don't have enough Information. I don't have what I need yet to start. I hear that one a lot. All kinds of things go into the bucket of procrastination. Those things. Our lack cycle. Those things are fear. Those things are ceilings. So get out that pencil right now. That pencil and paper. And I want you to write down the sentence. My rut is showing me the ceiling of my rut. Figure out that rut. Figure out your procrastination. My procrastination is showing me the ceiling of. You can use either ret or procrastination. You could even say routine. Right. If we're talking about a bad routine, we're going to use all three of those pretty much interchangeably. What's the ceiling? It's showing you. Now, some of the answers you might start jotting down would be. It's because I'm afraid of. It's because I don't trust. It's because I'm not good enough to. It's because I'm comparing myself to.
Right.
Let something pop up. Trust me, there is a reason for the procrastination. It's because I feel like I don't know enough about.
Right.
Fill in those sentences. That's your ceiling right there. And you're scratching your head. What does that mean? I'm afraid that's a ceiling I need to know more information about. That's a ceiling. Yes. Needing to know more information is a delay factor for most of us. Most of us have enough information that we need to make any action. Like, what action do you need to make? What do you need more information about? You have information right now. You could make an action based on what you already know. You're just choosing not to because you are making the need for a bigger amount of information. For instance, Right? You're choosing to delay. I made a choice earlier this year that I needed to overhaul my website. Okay. I need more information. I need to know, you know, what it needs to look like and what it needs to be like. I can take. I don't have to know all of that at once, but I know enough to get started. I know that I want the store to be better. I know I want a beautiful membership area now for all my MI schoolers and flow dream of the month club members. I know there are certain things so I can start taking action on each one of those smaller things. And I don't have a ceiling. There's no block to this. So of course I'm going to do it. And I feel motivated to do it because I know it's going to make my life easier. It's going to make your life easier. It's going to help in so, so many ways, right? Everybody will be able to download everything very easily onto their phones or their tablets or their desktops. There's no more confusion. I can't wait. So, yes, I have motivation. And whenever I feel myself holding back, it's like, what am I afraid of? What is it that I'm not handling? Really? That's a good question. What is it that I'm not handling? Why did I stop? Why did I pause? What am I not handling? And why am I not handling that? It's another good sentence to put down. What am I not handling? And why am I not handling that? Okay, that will lead you to your ceiling. That will solve your procrastination. You will know, and then you'll be able to make a choice. I either move through it or I don't. I move through it, or I stay in this knowledge of why I am in this rut. Now, what happens is that motivation comes naturally. Motivation will just jump on as soon as all of this stuff is cleared away. Why? Because there's nothing stopping it. You know, we wake up every day in our lives naturally motivated. We are naturally motivated. We want to go out in the sunshine. We want to have a good breakfast. We want to love someone. We want to do something meaningful. If you woke up every morning and said, there's nothing I want to do, absolutely nothing, nothing, then, you know, run to your doctor. That's severe depression. And that means there's something chemically imbalanced inside you, because that is not your natural state. Your natural state is to wake up and say, hmm, I'd like to taste this today. I want to indulge in this. I want to feel this. I want to become this. I want to give this. I want to offer this. Right? That is natural motivation springing up inside you. It will be there if you take the blocks off. Your motivation is like a flow of energy. It's like a spring. And you've damned it. You've damned it with these ceilings and blocks. No, you're saying, you can't do that. You cannot have that. Your motivation says, oh, and there it sits. So what am I really, really getting at here? Ruts and routines, procrastination. It comes down to you waking up to your own inner courage, your own inner courage to say, I've had enough of this. I don't want to live like this anymore. I don't want to be blocked by this I don't want to be stalled by this. I don't want to be held back by this. And I will do anything and everything it takes inside myself so that I can release and let go of all of this stuff. Because I've just had enough. I'm bigger than this now. I've grown older than this stuff now. I have too much experience to tolerate or abide by this stuff now. I am able to do this. And I am strong enough to say I'll work through anything that gets in my way. Can you feel the power in that? Can you feel the strength? Can you feel how now I'm connecting to flow with this emotional. Yes, I said it in sentences, but it's an emotional state. It's an emotional state that says I'm in it, I'm committed, we're doing this. Why would I be procrastinating about it if it's good for me, if it's something I want and I figured out all the little things that were holding onto my shoulders? Alright, we're doing it. We're doing it. That's how you solve your motivation issues day in, day out, every single day, right? There you go. I know. I make it sound so easy. It's easy. Once you get started, once you start applying this mindset, once you start applying yourself into flow, communicating with your life like this, every day becomes easier and easier and easier. So speaking of which, let's go to some calls. Lots of wonderful calls today. And maybe we can demonstrate a little bit about how this works. I'll also be demonstrating empathic intuition, which when we talk about flow, dreaming and manifesting, think of that. Think of the universe as a two way current, right? Acdc, it's going one way, it's positive, negative. And just like everything in the world, right? Positive ions, negative ions, everything has a positive negative. Except positive doesn't mean good, and negative doesn't mean bad. In this case, positive just means that's you inputting information into the universe, creating that emotional state, allowing your flow to scoop it up, take it from you, reflect it in the world around you. You are the creator. You are the co creator. When you are the receiver, when you are in the opposite state, you're receiving information from flow from the universe. You're saying I'm open and I'm taking in. What do I need to know from that vast flow of information? Guide me in my creation. It's really all it means. Guide me in my creation. Because I'm going to manifest, create, put that positive energy forward and out. And I'm going to receive, which means I'm going to learn, gain information, gain clarity. It's going to help me in deciding what I create. It's going to help me know is what I created working or not? So an empath is someone who uses their emotions primarily to access flow energy, to access the energy of all that is you as a being in motion. In life, you are flowing through your life, from your past to the present to the future. Think of you as one long stream of information, collecting information as you go forward through your days, collectively adding to yourself. Your soul is continuously growing. Whether you're trying to make it happen or not. Your partner is deciding what you want to grow with it. What do you want to grow in it? Instead of just defaulting to whatever ends up happening in your life. Okay, let's start with Patty. Patty, you're in Kansas. Hey, what's up? Hi, Summer.
Thank you for taking my call.
Sure.
I have been feeling I'm ready to go big in so many ways for a very long time. However, no matter how much work I seem to do on myself, I make two steps forward and I take at least one step back. I feel like I'm stuck in some lack cycle thing. I'm usually insightful and help my friends and so on with this sort of stuff. And I'm frustrated that I am unable to recognize insights onto how I can get past my rut. Thank you so much for the subject of the show. It was perfect.
Awesome. Okay, so first of all, there's nothing wrong with two steps forward, one step back, right? What ends up happening is you take those steps forward, you gain more awareness. It's like going, aha, I see something that I need to fix now. Okay. Aha. Then you get to work fixing it, right. You start clearing it. Well, as you clear it and you move that next step forward, something else comes up, right? It's not like you reach a point where everything in your life is absolutely perfect and you are the most connected, magnificent creator on earth. Right? That's like mastery level. That's Jesus Christ level. Right. I'm just going to make something out of my palm. Yeah, Most of us are there. Okay.
I'm trying so hard to be.
I am trying so hard to get past that perfectionist within me.
Yeah, yeah. And the thing is, the more you become aware of the things that hold you back, the more you can go into the opposite, which is, oh, my God, I didn't realize. I'm so full of this. There's even more that's wrong with me. It's almost like ignorance is. Is bliss. Right? So the ticket for you, the key, rather, is that you need to learn how to work through that cycle expertly. Go. Oh, I'm hitting a ceiling. I'm hitting some resistance. I'm encountering a problem again in my life. Lack is coming up. I just caught myself anticipating it. I expected it, then I created it. Ah, I did it again. Okay. Instead of always hitting and going through that same cycle over and over, you want to move through that cycle differently, which is. Ooh, I just discovered my lack thinking. Ah, that must have created this situation over there. Hmm. I bet I'm going to adjust this and correct this now, huh? Is this what it feels like to do that? Yes, it is. What happens when I start doing this and then it's just about plugging along? Can you give me something specific? Okay.
When we speak of lack cycle, I'm talking about as so many people feel, financial insecurity and being stuck in a poverty level, just barely existing.
And.
There'S a part of me that just feels it's something I know it's something I'm doing because for a whole bunch of different reasons. But if the people that I am intimate with have a trace of lack cycle thinking in them, I seem to be stuck in it, too.
Does that make sense? Yeah, sure. Because this is probably the cycle of information you grew up in. It feels very comfortable to you. You know it well. Right? And something is very comfortable. You grew up in this way of thinking. Mom and dad said, we don't have enough money. Don't spend it on things that are silly. You know, always kind of reigning you in. Pull back, pull back. Be careful, be cautious. There's never enough. Okay. This becomes a dominant energy state in you. Very comfortable energy state. You may not like it, but you know it so, so, so well. As you start to break out of it, what happens is you're starting instead to feel things like, I actually have a lot of money. I have a secure job, and they love me, and they promote me, and I earn more money every year, and I'm not afraid of losing this job. Because in my new world, people are continually rewarded as they grow more skillful, as they listen to their flow. I'm able to even move jobs whenever I want. I'm not stuck. So you start feeling this, and a part of you wobbles inside. It goes, yeah, that sounds great, but that's totally unrealistic. You know, that's not how it really is. So you're in essence putting yourself into a very uncomfortable state of mind. It's one you want, but you don't believe. Right. There's a conflict. There's an energy conflict. I want it, I love it. But I don't really believe it. You see what's happening here? Foot on the gas, foot on the brakes, same time.
Yes. Yes.
Okay. That's what you keep experiencing. You have to commit to feeling really uncomfortable for a while. Like, I'm going to believe this, I'm going to believe this. I'm going to feel this way. Nobody can tell me otherwise. I'm going to make actions and decisions now based on this new feeling, even if it feels a little bit crazy at the same time.
And despite how the others in my intimate life may feel, I'm going to have to commit to that.
Yes, you will. Because what's going to happen is you're going to start seeing them from a further and further distance once you start walking yourself to stepping backwards out of that way of thinking. And you're going to look at them and you're going to notice. God, they just said something incredibly negative. Do they know they're creating that? I wonder how often I used to do that, because when I never noticed it before, I'm sure I was doing it all the time with them, which is why I never noticed. Now I'm noticing, and it's making me feel like half in and half out, and I'm really uncomfortable. And now that I'm even further out, I feel totally out of the place that they're in. I feel almost like, are we ever going to connect again? That's okay, though. You'll be able to reevaluate at that point if you want to keep connecting. Because if you do want to keep connecting with them, it means you're going to have to participate in their lack cycle with them. And you're going to have to keep being poverty poor. Right. That's the one thing you're getting out of it. You're getting closeness with the people who are also poverty poor around you in your life, in your friendships and your partnerships.
Thank you, Summer. You've given me a lot to think about, and you confirmed several insights that I've had before. I do. Thank you very much for your time, for your energy, and for your dedication.
Oh, thanks, Patty. Before you go, I just want to go and feel you for a minute here. Just kind of give you a little couple pats on the back and the flow. Right. Like having someone, it's got this image of Someone kind of lifting up a kid's chin like, buck up, buttercup. You know, that's the feeling you need that you need. Champions and cheerleaders on your new path, you don't have enough of those surrounding you. Yeah, that's the next thing to get. Get those people around you. Even if you feel like you're the one who doesn't do as well as they do, get those people around you anyway. Right? Because you want to learn to be like them. You want to be guided by them. You want them cheering you along.
Thank you.

We're going to go through a call and a live flow dream. Hey, Linda, how are you?
Hi, Summer, how are you?
I'm great.
Good.
Fabulous show today.
Oh, good. Thank you.
Yes. I can't wait to re. Listen to it.
Great.
And make notes.
Yeah, I know. I just kind of, you know, go very quickly. Yes.
There's so much, so much to process, but it's good.
It's good.
It triggered a lot in me, so I'm gonna have to go back and process.
Well, I can tell you're from Canada.
Yes, Toronto, actually.
What can I help you with today?
I'd like some of your guidance on a guy that I'm interested in.
Okay.
He works in the media. We've been speaking online for a couple years now, and we met up in July. And when I met him, there was instant attraction, chemistry. It was easy and it flowed. The only thing that I'm a little bit hesitant about is I'm scared I'm going to be repeating patterns about chasing. Chasing guys that are not available to me and that he might not be so accepting of what's going on in my life right now because I'm kind of all over the place.
Okay, so since July, when you two were meeting, have you maintained the same level of contact or has it gotten closer?
It did get a little bit closer, and then he lost his job. And then it's fizzled a little bit since then, but we're still in contact.
Okay, and are you both available?
Yes.
Okay. By that I mean not married or living with. First name. Then give me his first name, please.
Mike.
Mike. Mike, Mike. And are you using your real name, Linda?
Yes.
Okay, just checking. Because if you're not, then I go, hey, Mike, it's let you know I'm here with Linda. And he's like, who's Linda? Okay, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike. Tell me how you're feeling about Linda. What's going on in your life and in your flow? Why has there been a lack of movement lately? Because that's what it's feeling like. You feel lack of movement. Like you hit the pause button in your life, didn't you? He's saying, yeah, I have him. He's easy to reach. Hi, Mike. Yes, I know he wants some sympathy. I'm just having to sympathize with him a little bit before I can go forward. He's just telling me like, oh, man, it's been so hard. He's just. It's like he feels like his life has shrunk down.
Yeah.
Patience thing.
Yeah. Shrunk down, down. It's gotten smaller. He feels smaller. Well, why? Just because you lost a job? So what? You can find a new job. He's trying to find it. I know, I know. Let's not talk about how hard it is. I don't like that thinking. Let's. Let's go up from that. Okay. Let's move up, Mic. Come on. Up, up, up, up, up, up. Out of that, it's easy for you to find something. I'm actually here not to talk about your job. I know that's what you want to talk about. I'm talking about Linda, though, right? Linda's curious. She's like, where are you? What's happened to you? Well, he can't. He can't pursue anything with you if he doesn't have a job.
Oh, gosh. It's like me. He's mirroring me, basically.
He is. He is.
He's mirroring me.
Okay. Is that what you're going through? Yes. Yes. No. I can't pursue a relationship. I don't have a job. That's right. Like, can't do one without the other. First things first. Okay, so you're both just on this. You're like two planes circling in the sky. You guys are refusing to land. I tell you what, you guys have to make a decision together. Whoever gets the job first restarts this thing.
Okay?
Okay. Because otherwise you're just going to be like, you'll land and he'll be circling or he'll circle or he'll land and you'll circle. Right. You don't need to keep this delay going on and on and on. But his basic feeling is if he doesn't have a job, he feels that he is unable to commit to anything bigger because. I don't know, it's just the way he thinks. It's like he's half a man without a job, essentially. Okay.
I'm sure you know what I've been through and that's not the case, and I know that.
Yes.
But that's what I was hesitant about, about trying to pursue a little bit more sooner was because I didn't know how accepting it would be in his mind with my situation because I'm on the self discovery tour.
Right. Okay. So there you go. He can't have two unemployed people together. It's just totally not going to work. For him. So one of you has to get your act together and then make it okay for the other one to feel all right about taking their time. Okay?
Okay.
All right, Linda, thanks for your call. Hopefully that was helpful. Bye, you two.
Thank you.
Take care. Bye. All right, we have a few moments to go and do our flow dream together. So what happened between Linda and Mike is. I was just looking in. Mike, right. Everybody has an energy. To them, we're just one rolling ball of information. That's all we are. A spinning, whirling fingerprint. Yeah, look at. Think about your fingerprint, right? That whirl, that pattern on there. Imagine your flow is a whirling pattern of you, everything that you are. You can reach that pattern. You can access it, you can talk to it. Whether you call it a consciousness or whatever, no matter where it is. How do you think the universe is organizing everything that's going on, all the future relationships that you're going to have? It's got to identify and know those energy signatures, those people, those consciousnesses, those workplaces. It's got to have a way to identify them and sort of mark them. Okay? That's what's weaving together here. That's what's on its way together there. As a manifester, you become able to do the same thing to understand those energy signatures of other people. It's pretty damn cool. Okay, let's flow dream. Got about five minutes. We'll do it very briefly. A flow dream, by the way, can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 20 minutes. No kidding. There is no set number that is perfect. Being in a flow dream simply means you move your state of consciousness into flow. We do that by starting by creating a flow, not a flow dream, a daydream. Right? Think of, like a conscious daydream as being like a lucid dream that you would have at night, right? Normally, you dream at night and you don't know what's going on. You're just there being passively part of it. But if you wake up during your dream, aha. Now you're lucid dreaming. Now you can direct your dream. And it's super cool when it happens, right? Daydreaming is similar. Half the time you just drift off. You don't even know you're there. You go, you drive for 10 minutes on the freeway, and you're like, whoa, there's my. You know, there's my exit. Or anyway, all kinds of things like that. With daydreaming now, lucid daydreaming, conscious daydreaming, means you wake up in your daydream. Oh, I know what I'm doing. I know what I'm really thinking about. When you're flow dreaming, you're doing a kind of lucid daydreaming. That's how we get ourselves in. Okay? And the place that we go into is that flow state, that place of alignment. Now, to get all the background on this, you've really got to go get that free tutorial that I make available for you on my website. Okay? So that said, close your eyes. We're going to move briefly into flow for a few minutes and we're going to relax our body. Let your stomach out, open your chest, drop your shoulders, drop your jaw, relax your forehead and breathe. Breathe deeply. Feeling relaxed. Feeling. Well, here you are in your life. You're seeing your life as a series of routines, things that you do. Waking up, brushing your teeth, drinking your coffee or juice or smoothie or whatever you do. Getting dressed, combing your hair. And the day goes on from there. Routine, routine. And then you see the other routines you have in life, the routines that overlay those other routines. The routine of your workplace, the routine of your retirement, the routine of your relationship, the routine of how you spend your time and what you think about the routine routines in your thinking, the ruts in your thinking. They're all there. Layer after layer after layer of them. Can you see them? They're like. They're like thin strips of gum laid on top of each other. All different layers and colors and types of gum going off into the distance. One routine after another. Layers and layers of ruts and routines sometimes work. Some don't. Some are there because you've been afraid to nudge them out of position. You've been afraid to nudge them because they're representing something much deeper inside you, something much deeper. You nudge them and a little thing pokes its head up and says, don't do that. We got some fear hiding under here. Don't touch that. Don't get out of that rut. There's some insecurity, there's some self worth stuff going on. Don't touch. Oh, and you say, hush, hush. You've been there long enough. I'm tired of you. I'm tired of that. I am going to nudge you. And you take your energy and you take one of those biggest ruts you have and you just push against it right now. Push, push, push with your hands. You see yourself in this flowing place, pushing against this big routine, this big rut until the energy nudges, budges, and eventually it dislodges and it moves and it flows and it floats away. And you watch it disappearing. Oh, that feels good. Know what's in its place? Oh, those are the fears, those are the worth issues. And what do you say to them? I embrace you. I love you. We're gonna take care of this now. We're gonna take care of this now. I promise you. I'm the grown up here. We're gonna going to take care of this. And you love them. You open your heart to them. You say, we're done with this rut. It's done. There's no more. We're going to move forward. We're moving on to the next level. I said so. And that's it. You just opened the door. You made the change. You stepped in. That feels so good. You feel that? You feel how strong you are. Do you feel comfortable, confident? That's you. That's you breaking the rut. Do you feel the excitement? Bubbles starting to come up. They are coming up. They're gonna bubble up in you all day, all week. Here they come, bubbling, bubbling, bubbling, releasing them. Bubbles in the soda. They're coming up in your life. You say yes, I take this. Thank you, Flo. And with that, you find yourself reeling back, coming back. And now you open your eyes. There you go. A very brief exercise to dislodge the rut. First step. Okay, have fun with that one, you guys. I'll talk to you all again next week, same time, same place. My love to you all. Well, look at that. Shows over. But before you go, did you know that my mom has a podcast too? Her show airs live right after mine. It comes up next. We tape our live shows back to back. Her show is called the Dear Venus Show. So stay listening and you can call in or look it up live on itunes if you're listening via podcast. Her show is really good. It's really funny. And she reads people, people's minds and futures and talks to dead people for real. It's called the Dear Venus show on itunes.
