1.
Hi everybody, it's Summer and I'm here with my mom, Venus. As I just introduced her to you all, we have a Halloween special planned for you and we're gonna be talking about a lot of weird things. Haunted houses and the Salem witch trials.
Wait a minute. I have a question.
Oh, hi.
You said we just started over, didn't you? Did you leave that part in about my age already?
Yeah, we're done with that. So wait, no, no, no, no. It started over. We started over. Mom, nobody knows how old you are. Okay, okay, for context, this is our third go at this. Third time we had a dog bark. Then I mistakenly told everybody mom's age and various. And then my mom starts off the show with an F bomb and I'm like, okay, so we. This is our fourth go.
What about the 34 minutes before we even got started? The 34 minutes of trying to figure.
Out how to open the Chrome browser and paste a URL? But we're here. We made it with you guys. And we're here to Wish you a very happy Halloween. And it's my favorite. It's spooky season and I haven't had my mom on the show in, gosh, couple of years maybe.
And you can see why already, right?
Yeah, well, but to be fair, she has her own podcast that's also been going strong about what, 19, 18. 19 years?
Well, they tell me at least 20, those that have been listening to me that long, believe it or not.
Yeah, so it's called the Dear Venus show and she does readings and generally just lays out all the family garbage for everybody to see on air, among other things. So it's quite entertaining, I have to admit, even though every time I listen I do a lot of cringing.
And. Well, you should.
I know. So let's talk. Let's get in. So people know because they, they know me as the flow dreaming lady, the manifesting woo woo wunderkind. Lately I've been letting people know a little bit more about my intuitive side and my witchy side and, and kind of just sharing a little bit more about our family and where we come from and the kind of ways that.
We all grew up.
So I don't know, I thought maybe we'd start talking about. Do you want to talk about the family today or about the haunted house or what do you think?
Well, I think we should talk about. It's Halloween. Let's talk about the ghosts and things we were talking about the other day. And they're gonna hear about the family too, because they're intertwined.
Yes, indeed.
Okay, why don't we start with the big white two story house over 200 years old that I had to live in. My siblings and I had to live in for quite a while. And we all hated that house, but we didn't know it till we grew up summer. And one time we were talking with, oh, we were having a medicine man Indian ceremony at the house as just an aside, something else we do. So we were talking about this and all the property the house was on and they were talking about what a great house it was. And each of us individually, there's six of us kids by the way, spoke up and said how much we hated that house and how much we hated growing up in that house and how cold that house was and how full of ghosts that house is. And we were all shocked because none of the rest of us knew that everybody hated it.
That's so funny because I love that house. So for context, this is an old white farmhouse, one of the oldest houses in, in this small town. In Southern California, where Mom and I grew up and sort of grew up. Yeah. Belonged to my grandparents and they used to be turkey ranchers. So there was a big old turkey farm that went away eventually when all the turkeys died of some terrible disease.
But that wasn't there. That was another place that has its own stories. Yeah.
So they got this other giant property and just grew a whole bunch of wheat on it. And that's the house we're talking about. And I remember I had, in seventh grade, I had all my friends over and we all slept in the living room, the cold, dark living room. And I made them all dress up like dead celebrities of a bygone era, like the 1920s, you know, like Greta Garbo. So we all showed up in these little slinky nightgowns and feather boas and. And bedded down in our sleeping bags for the night. I had a wonderful time. It was so fabulous.
And I don't remember this at all. So I must have been out in the little cottage in back where you and I lived. We're going to get them all mixed up here. I grew up there partly, but then I left home, got married, had Summer, got divorced, that kind of thing. And at one point, Summer and I lived in this little cottage behind the white house. And you were in junior high then?
I think some cottage is a generous term. I call it the tin shack.
With all the peacocks. My folks had like 25, 30 peacocks. You know how peacocks sound? They scream. I'll get away from the mic a bit and I'll show you how they sound.
Ah. Ah.
I hope it didn't ruin the microphones. Do you remember them, Summer? How could you forget?
You just made the ghost sounds of the day for us.
Okay, great.
Thank you. Yes.
Yeah. So where should we start? We could start. Why don't we start in the middle? When you and I lived in the. I call it a shack. I mean a cottage. You call it a shack?
We had putty, A cottage, a palace. It had no insulation. It had a tin roof. It was covered with peacocks all the time.
Yeah.
Next door to the haunted house. Yes.
Okay. Yeah, okay.
Okay.
So I had this cat that I'd had since I mar Summer's father. And her name was Puddy. She was black and white, a short hair cat. She lived to be, what, 19, I think. Something like that. But she was with us and she was my most darling cat and Summer's cat. We were all three of us, very, very close. And then Puddy got To be really old. And Puddy died. In fact, my father kept telling us, because she was old and sickly, he'd shoot her, bring her over, and I'll shoot her and put her out of her misery. So one day, it got so bad that summer, and I decided we had to do it. We didn't want to do it, but she was suffering. I remember taking Puddy over to the house, the big white house in my arms, and presenting her to my father. You know, get your gun and shoot her. Daddy couldn't do it. Remember that? He said, no, no, no, I cannot. No.
I just gotta throw this in for everybody who's absolutely, like, cringing right now. This is how we used to do things. When you grew up without a lot of money in a rural town, there wasn't a get a vet or take your cat for, you know, humane euthanasia. This is how. So we didn't know any better. That was it.
But we didn't do it. And dad wouldn't do it. But she did die naturally in my bedroom with me. And we buried her and we grieved for a very long time. And what I'm remembering is, years later, I was over at Mom's house. Okay, we're going to have to hop around here. But when mom and dad got really old, dad eventually died. Mom was still alive. We had to rent out the big white house to help everybody live. You know, we needed some money because mom didn't really have any. And we didn't really either. So Polly, one of my sisters, got my mother. This the ugliest trailer I have ever seen. Do you remember that trailer? A long trailer. Ugly, ugly, old.
Old.
Grandma loved it. She lived in that trailer.
Single wide. A single wide. And I remember various spots in the floor were very mushy. So I learned how to kind of dance through the trailer. Don't hit the mushy spots you might go through. Nobody ever fixed those. There was one in the bathroom. There was one in the hall.
Yeah, that's how it was. And there was that enormous picture that took almost the whole hall of my brother Jim. Remember that?
Yeah, I do. That was odd.
Jim is one of my brothers. He's very handsome, but he's also kind of a narcissist. He's always talking about himself, but he's wonderful guy. I love my brother, but he got Mother a present. It was a picture of him. That thing must have been 6ft tall and 4ft wide. We all made fun of it, took up the whole hall. But anyway, in the single wide.
It was pretty impressive. And he wore a black turtleneck. He had a very Scorsese feeling going on.
He looked like a movie star. But anyway, so what happened was I was with my mother one day. This was years after Puddy died and Summer moved out and the whole thing. My mother said to me, we were having tea in a part of this awful place and she says, oh, Venus, I saw Puddy the other day. Puddy was sitting right there on the stove. Remember, Puddy's been dead for many years. And my mother was like, oh, this is normal. There was Puddy. She was just sitting on the stove. This was my mother. She would see things, hear things, know things. She used to hear words and voices in the water when she flushed the toilet. Did you know that, Summer?
No, I didn't. I know she always talked to her friend in her writings.
Yes.
Got a lot of good information.
Yes. But you know what? We're supposed to be talking about spooky things here. There was Puddy, but you were going to mention a couple of things around. Do you. We had a headstone there. It's still over there. Somebody else owns that house.
There's a headstone.
There's a big headstone there. It's from one of my great great grandfathers or something. We left it there. I don't know why nobody's gone to get it.
Well, that's weird.
Maybe you'd like it.
Maybe. Maybe. I remember being a kid and just going out in the fields and roaming around and there were cattle ranches all around. And sometimes I'd find these big bones, sets of bones, old dead cattle and big horns. And I'd haul the skulls back. I just grab ahold of the horns and just haul them across the fields. Acres and acres said bring them back. So we had quite a few, quite a few cow skulls on the body as a result of me. Yeah, tell us about the jockstrap, because that was a new one that you just told me a couple of days ago that I had no idea about the jockstrap.
Okay, so we had this two story old white house that we lived in and my folks had. Well, when we were kids we had to all live upstairs. I'm getting to that. One summer, just a minute here. We all had to live upstairs in this big long room, you might say. And at the time I had a smaller room, but we. But it was all upstairs. And for us to get to the bathroom, which was downstairs at night, we had to all converge on this little stoop and all there Were all these stairs all the way down to the bathroom? It was quite a trip.
Really.
Pee lightly.
Really steep stairs, too.
Really steep stairs.
Would not have passed any building codes.
No, but we had a ghost in the house. At least one. And the top of the stairs of that landing was ice cold all the time. And so in the middle of the night, if you had to pee or anything, you fought about a long time because you had to go through that area to get downstairs and upstairs back to your bed. There was always that. That I remember. And then Grandpa was telling me that upstairs, when they lived up there, this was another time later on, there was an attic that was sort of went like a slope downward just right next to their bed or someplace like that.
I remember it was inside the closet. You actually had to go into the dark clothes closet, feel your way to the back. It was like Narnia. And then there was a crawl space. I mean, a crawl space, like a door.
So for some reason, your dad, your grandpa crawled down that crawl space. Don't ask me why. He's never like that. And he found. He told us he found a bloody jockstrap. He found a bloody jockstrap back there and brought it out. And he wondered why that was there, what happened there. We don't have any idea what may have happened in that house, but there were ghosts in that house and probably has quite a story, but we didn't want to follow it up and find out.
Yeah, I was just thinking, how come you never looked into that bloody jockstrap and asked it who its owner was? That could have been really interesting.
Haven't done it. Haven't done it.
You know what?
I don't want to. When I left that house, I was, I think 15. No, I just turned 16 when I graduated. Man, I was out of there like a shot.
Yeah, but you brought us both back, you know, 15 years later.
That was happenstance. Circumstance.
But I love that house. I love that house. Don't even tell me that. I know, I know. Grandma always said that after they remodeled and put a bathroom upstairs that the ghosts went away. Oh, she did. They got annoyed and they were over it. And they didn't hear any more of the sounds or the talking or anything. It just all went away. So I just filed that away. Note to self, if you want to get rid of your ghosts, remodel your house.
Yeah. You know, I just thought of something. I thought about mom seeing Puddy on the stove. Like, matter of factly, your cat wrote it. Rhoda just died. And you Were telling me the other day, you've seen Rhoda.
Yeah, Rhoda's been everywhere.
Tell everybody about that.
You know, when you. Okay, so Rhoda's my bestie cat. She's the favorite cat in the family. She's the cat who's the best friend with our giant 90 pound German shepherd dog. And she got unexpectedly, a mouth cancer, a squamish cell carcinoma. It just grows really fast. It's very hard to find. And she passed really fast. And unlike Puddy, we had a very humane service for her. And just days after that, you know how you see out of the corner of your eye, you catch something and you do a double take? I started double taking everywhere, and now every. Just every few days almost, I see a flash of her. And you were asking the other day when we were talking about it, like, how does she look? And I said, well, she's fully there. It's not like she's fuzzy. It's more like she's a little transparent. But she's completely there. She's there and she's gone. Wink in, wink out, bing, bing, gone, gone. And she's usually sliding around the places that I would normally see her sliding around the door. A flash of her on the top of the couch in the sunlight, you know, drinking from the pond.
Yeah, she was such a good cat. And, you know, she was the best friend of Ozzie, the German shepherd. They loved each other. And I was there the other day, and Ozzie is grieving his heart out. He's so sad. Animals just grieve. Made me feel so bad. But Summer's planning to get him a couple more cats, a bonded pair from a rescue center. So I'm excited about that.
Yeah, I'm gonna wait a little bit, Give him a little time here.
You know, right after Rhoda died, you called me and said, how's Rhoda? Did she make it? What's going on with Rhoda? And I remember I said this to you. I was looking and I said, well, Summer, she's still there in the house. She's still there and she's walking around and she's just trying to get adjusted. And I said, she's doing this funny thing with her head because I was doing it with mine. Because when I work with people, I often become them, whether they're dead people or alive people. I'll take on their mannerisms and things they say and all kinds of weird stuff. So I found myself with Rhoda, my head, and is doing it Right now, it was jerking back and forth and funny, acting weird. And I told you about that, and you said that's what she was doing close to the time she died. I said, well, she's still doing it. I didn't know that. I had never seen her with that movement. And so I said, summer, that's what I'm telling you. She's still there. She's trying to get adjusted, so she's still got that head movement. So I thought that was interesting that I saw that, and I became that. So, anyway, Summer, you know, we were talking about some other things that were interesting. I know we're using up a lot of time here. I hope people aren't hanging up. Don't hang up. We're not through yet. We've got good stuff. You were talking something about our Salem ancestor, and I didn't hear what you said.
Before we do that, though, what you were talking about with Rhoda, just passing reminds me of a time that one of my friends and clients that I was working with was really, really concerned about a friend whose husband was in the hospital, and they weren't sure if he was going to die or what was going to happen. And I remember I was in a session with her, and she said, would you just go take a peek at him and let me know? You know, let me know how things are. It just reminds me of Rhoda because there's this sort of in between space, right? There's like that. And I've only really caught that. This is the only time in my life I've caught that in between space, the moment. And I said to her, this is so strange. It's like I'm reaching for him. He keeps walking away. I'm reaching for him. He's walking away. And I said, where are you going? Where are you walking? I'm just a friend. A friend of your friend. And are you okay? And, you know, you're in the hospital. How are you okay? Are they doing everything for you? Are you in pain? And he kept walking. And this beautiful lake opened up. It was like a bayou. They were hanging tall trees and hanging vines, and it was sunlit. And I said to my friend, this is like a beautiful place. He's in a beautiful place that he remembers or he knows or he used to go there with his dad. It was. It's just something. It's just a place. It's just filling my heart up. And he just. He just turned and he looks at me from this place, and he left. And my friend says, hold on, hold on. Her phone's buzzing.
Got chills. I got chills.
Her phone's buzzing. It's her friend, and she says, he just passed. And so she said, I gotta go. We gotta go. Bye. And I'm left hanging. And I just was like, oh, my God.
I know, I know.
Talk about walking with someone to that space. And they do so many different things once they get there.
Yes. Summer and I do this. You know, I've had similar, but different. Because you and I both work with the dead or people who are dying. I mean, we do it. We do everything but eat cheese sandwiches while we're working. Let me see. I was remembering my grandmother. I was, like, 17, and my boyfriend was at the house. This was the poster boy for the Marines, that guy. You don't know him. I wasn't. I didn't have you then. Oh, my God. I'm going back in time. Getting mixed up. But anyway, so he was there, and it was night. And I saw my grandmother. She had cancer. She was dying. And I saw my grandmother walking, but look in my. In the living room. But she didn't seem like she was okay. She seemed puzzled and, like, weird. And I said, call the hospital. Call the hospital. I think my grandmother's dying. I think she's out of her body. So he said, okay. And he called the hospital. And they said. The nurse went and looked. She was still in her bed, but she died shortly after. What she was doing, she was out of her body, of course, and walking around and getting ready to go. But it freaked me out, you know, I didn't know I could do. Then what. So if you don't know, that's pretty scary. And then when Bill died. Can I tell this story? Are we running out of time?
No, we're doing great. We're just talking about all the people who died. I think this qualifies as spooky and Halloween.
Yeah, you're right. You're right. Okay. So Bill was my boyfriend for 15 years. We lived together here in where I live. And he had cancer, too. And I had been taking care of him, and he got so sick that I couldn't do everything he needed. I'd had his sister come and help me, but we just weren't up to the task, according to him. So we called the VA because he was a vet, and they took him away. And I had talked to the doctor, seen the doctor or something, and. And they expected him to live another two to six months. So I think that night I was home and I. I just Needed some sleep because, you know, 24 7, you gotta get some sleep. And he was in a good place. The next morning I woke up, it was like 4, 5. It was really dark out. And he was running by my. I heard him, and I saw him with my mind running by my bedroom windows. Don't tell me how. I don't know how I got this, but there he was, running by my windows. I said, wait a minute. He usually would run past my windows every morning with his little dog, Bob, a Doxie. He'd run him out in the back 40 because the dog loved to go. But you couldn't leave him free because of the coyotes. So he would run, Bob. So he ran by, and I'm going, wait a minute. Bill's in the hospital. That can't be Bill. But I was wide awake. And then Bill yells, bob. Bob. And then I thought, but he can't. He can't. You know, he's not here. And then he yells, jack, Jack. And I go, wait, but Bob's name is Bob. It's not Jack. I was all confused. And then I called his sister and told her what happened. I said, I think he's probably just out of his body, but this is what happened. I knew you'd want to know. Well, what happened was he was dead. He had just died, apparently, in the va. But not only that, Jack was his brother, his older brother, who had died a few months before. And so while he was running past my windows with Bob, who was still alive, he saw his brother Jack. And his brother Jack must have taken him out. And I just. Honest to God, I saw that. I heard that. I felt that I wasn't doing the work. But it happened. It really happened.
Yeah. People sometimes asked, you know, do you just see ghosts? And people all over? And I say, no, hope not. That would make living really hard. I know a lot of mediums say they do, but that would make stuff tough for me. It's always either I'm really going out and searching or like, for instance, when my grandfather, my dad's father died, who I wasn't particularly close to. So this was really, really surprising. I had no idea that he was even close. And I remember I was dreaming it was a night, and I was in their old house, and he was walking up this staircase in the house, and it was a kind of almost like a spiral staircase. And he walked up the staircase and he looked down at me, and I looked up at him and I thought, this is really strange. Where are you going, Grandpa? And he just turned and he just continued walking up. And then I learned the next morning that he had passed that night. Yeah, it's like sometimes they tell you and sometimes they don't. And it's don't baffling. The ones you think will talk to you do. The ones you don't think you're gonna talk to, they're the ones reaching out.
Yeah, you never know. You never know. You probably know this story, but your dad, you know, was very close to your Amy, so she'll be your aunt. She was quite old, in her 90s.
Great aunt, great grandma. Great, great, great grandma.
And I knew Amy and her sisters very well because I'd been married to your dad. But anyway, your dad said, Amy, I think she died at home in the chair. And they had the ambulance come, the whole thing, and they took her off. And your dad followed her in his car right behind the ambulance. Oh, yeah. And he said while he was driving or where they were coming to a light or something. I don't remember that part. Whoosh. He came out of the ambulance, right into him. Do you remember that?
You know what? I remember my dad telling the story. And my dad is, you guys. He's completely different than we are. He is a very, you know, engineer. Engineer, red state conservative, to the. To the bone, you know, Catholic, everything.
I don't know that he is anymore because. Because of what happened there. So. And when grandma died, this is my mother. This was in her old ratty trailer. We were all with her. It was in the night, deep in the night. We were in the back room because Polly's husband Ron wanted to talk to her. And she was really in bad shape. And I was next to Candy. We were kind of lying on the bed. The other kids were sort of watching a TV program just to do something, you know. And we had grandma's cat between us. What was that cat's name? Black and White.
She was meant with an S. Sadie or something like that. Yeah, whatever.
She was between us. And all of a sudden this cat screamed bloody murder and ripped right hit the wall. And as she went past, she scraped candy really bad. Candy was bleeding and I was course up. What happened? What happened? Well, mother had just died and she had obviously come ripping through the back room to see us kids. She knew we were there. Scared the wits out of her cat. So we knew mother died. That's how she did it. And didn't Grandma come to you after she died?
Yeah, a couple of times. I had some pretty mystical experiences, I guess I remember. Okay, so when you Dream about someone who's died. It's different than just a dream dream. There's a dream dream where you're just dreaming about them and you kind of know it when you wake up. There's another kind where you wake up and you realize something really happened. And those experiences, for me are just. They're burned into my brain. They never leave. There's something. It's like a brand that just gets deeply put in there. And I remember at one point saying, grandma, where are you? And of course, we were in the old white house because that's like our meeting space. And I walked into the downstairs dining room area where you used to have that huge old banged up table. It sat like 12 people.
Yeah.
Comfortable. Yeah. And there was a group of ladies playing like, I don't know, gin or cards. Yeah. Some old card game.
Something mother would never do, by the way.
Never do. And I looked at them and I said, where's. Where's Grandma? You know, like, why. Why are you all here playing cards? And they said, oh, she's in the other room. She's not. She's not here. She's not ready yet. And I said, well, I'm here for her. Can I see her? And one of the women looked me up and down and she said, well, okay. So she leads me back to Grandma. And Grandma tells me, oh, they're my cheer group. Or they're my, like my old social group. My old. Something like. Yeah, her old friends from way back in the day. And this is what they do. And they all get together and they play these card games. And I said, but you're not playing. She says, no, I'm just not. I'm not playing yet. And I said, well, as long as I have you, can I ask you a few questions from your exalted perspective? And she said, okay, yes, ask away. And I remember asking her, how do I find you? Cause you've been kind of quiet since you left. And we're all kind of stunned by that. Cause we thought you'd be everywhere.
All.
You know, like, we're all so connected and. And she said, well, finding me is easy. She says, you just think of me and I'm right there. There's no distance to travel. There's no time to go through. Basically, if my thought is in you, then we are instantly together. We're connected.
Right.
And the way I'm saying it now is so stupid sounding.
No, it's not.
It was this idea, like I could be in all of the universes, but time and distance Fold down with a kind of this connection. And so she said, I'm never far. I'm always. When they say people are always present. So after that, I had to switch around in my head, like, if I'm going to look for somebody, I don't say I'm going to look, because there's no going. There's no go to do. It's just more like. I realize it's more like a flower that just opens to whatever sun is above you. So now it's an opening feeling. It's not a going feeling. And that was. She told me more. I've forgotten it now.
You know, Summer, you and I were talking about this the other morning when I was down there, and I said, you know, I was talking with her friend Eloise, who's 100 years old now. They were friends since college. And I stay in touch with Eloise and she with me, and we talk about Mom. Eloise is the one. When my mother died, I got it in my head that, by God, I wanted her to call me. I don't know why. You may remember me saying this. I'm not going to believe she's dead. I'm not going to believe in anything until she calls me. When she calls me, I'm going to believe everything. But she never called me. And I kept waiting and waiting and waiting. We had other things. I had other things that happened to let me know she was fine and she was there and this and that, but she hadn't called me. Well, Eloise called me. We had not Talked for maybe 30 years, Eloise and I. And she said, the first thing, she says, my mother told me to call you. I mean, your mother told me to call you. And I said, there's my phone call from my mother, you know, and that's. It was so bizarre. But, yes. And then I talked to her the other day. Now we keep in touch more often. And I said, I. How's my mother? Does my mother have any messages for me? Because she'll often give me messages from my mother. And I said, oh, your mother's here. She's here all the time. She's. She's with you all the time. And I said, well, no wonder, because I'm always talking to her and saying, mom, I really need you. I want you to be with me and da, da, da. And so I said to you the other day that Grandma's not with me all the time anymore. You said the same thing. Grandma's around me all the time too, anymore, remember?
Yeah, it's Funny, because Grandma was gone for a long time after she passed. And I remember being just. We were all befuddled. Like, why would she have just bailed? Like, that's so not her. She was off, like, just, I don't know, touring the galaxies. I don't know what she was doing. I know, but now she seems to be a lot more present, a lot more around.
Yes, she is. And I talk to her a lot. And my brother Arthur has really good connection with Grandma, too. He sees her and he'll report in. But I often talk to her and I ask for her help for things. And I think it's harder to see the dead people in your own life. Personally. I mean, it's easy for me to see the dead when I'm doing the work. Yeah. You know, because I'm really good at reading minds like you are. And dead or alive, I can do all of that. We do all kinds of things. But it's harder doing it for yourself. Because with me, anyway, I just try too hard. I want the answers. I want to hear what I want to hear, you know?
I know, I know. We get in our own way.
Yeah.
I've talked to people a lot about the quirkiness of my family, and. Well, actually, I haven't talked that much. I should talk more. I'm trying to talk more about it.
Don't worry.
I do it for you.
You're this way, girls.
I do it this way. I do it for you. And you guys don't like it. So I have to be careful and hope you're not listening to me on any given radio show.
But we go back many generations. The oldest daughter of the oldest daughter of the oldest daughter of the oldest daughter is what I always say on back and back and back. And I remember Grandma telling us, you know, that her mom and her mom's mom, they used to be doing astrology out there in the middle of the US and the Dust bowl and the Mojave Desert. In the Mojave Desert, yeah. All the way. All the way back. Just kind of quietly doing our thing.
Yeah. You know, Summer, we have so much more to talk about. I wonder if we should do another call at another time, because we've got a lot of stuff here.
I know. We could do a part two.
Should we do a part two? I guess we'll see if they like this one. If people like this one, we'll consider doing a part two. If not, you won't ever hear from us again.
That's not true.
That's not true.
Okay. But I was going back because you mentioned Salem, and this is something I just discovered, and I want to talk about it because it's Halloween, and I've always been saying, I know I come from this really weird witchy background. I've always tried to, like, run away from it because I was like, oh, I'm more sophisticated and I'm a blah, blah, blah. I'm not that. I'm not a quote, quote psychic. I'm all of that. I'm in my 50s now. I'm finally owning it. Like, all right, I'll admit. But you were telling me, and. Okay, first of all, preface this. You bring me this big old binder. Big, fat, white, ugly, old, really beaten up binder of all the family. And I don't know why the family chose me to hold these.
Grandma had them. Grandma gave them to Candy, I think, before she died. Well.
And then Candy gave them to you, I guess. You gave them to me. I guess. So now I hold all the family treasure. I don't know.
Yes. Yes.
So we're looking through this, and it shows us our ancestry and all these old birth certificates going back and back and back, and there they are. John and Priscilla Alden. Legit from the Mayflower. I know everybody says that, and I always thought it was like, yeah, yeah. But nope, we really.
Are we really direct descendants? Well, let me tell them. We're direct descendants, but so are many people.
Yeah. I have mixed feelings because, you know, the Mayflower people were kind of fanatics.
Yes, they were. They were far right. They were super religious. I know. When I found that out, I thought, oh, my God, we've fallen far from that tree.
Like, oh, boy, oh, boy, that's them and me. But it turns out one of their descendants, his name was Captain John Alden, he's one of our direct descendants. He was actually swept up in the Salem witch trials. He was brought in along with one of his friends. He was a man who became prominent. He did business, he got into politics. He may have just been on the wrong side of a few people, but he was actually pinned by. What was her name? Mercy. The main one. You know, one of the main witches who said, you know, this person is a witch. So they scooped him up. They scooped him up. And his friend, they threw him in jail, hot and thick in the middle of the witch trials there in Salem. And he had his. You know, his friends were writing to him and telling him, you've got to get out of there. You have to get out of there. And he's like, no, no. I'm sure this will all be sorted out. This is just. This will be fixed. And he finally listened. And so one night, he actually broke out of the Salem. You guys, this is all on Wikipedia. It's there. He broke out of the jail and he fled through the night on horseback. He fled the witch trials on horseback. He disappeared. Well, I mean, he kept on with his life, and after a few years, he was able to come out again after all the fanaticism had passed, but. But the buddy that he was accused with subsequently got crushed to death.
Ooh.
A few days later.
Oh, my God.
So that's a bit of our family line right there. And I don't know what to think. I don't know if he really was witchy, because it's kind of weird to be part of all of that, or if he just got people angry or maybe a little bit of both. But I was kind of surprised. I had no idea I had a direct ancestor who survived. One of the few who actually survived.
Well, you know, I think we all. All of us have interesting pasts. And I think that's why people like to find out who's what, where they come from. Maybe it helps in some ways. And maybe it scares the pants off you.
Yeah. People always say, aren't you so you're so lucky that you have the mom you have. And you guys do the. Your family's always been so accepting and. And I guess. Cause I just grew up like this, you know, I'm like, well, yeah, I basically drank herbs for a living as a kid because that's all my mom ever gave me for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
No, no, it wasn't that bad. But I did terrible things this summer. I did terr. I admit. I admit. And one of these days, you and I should have a show where we compare notes about all the things I did to you in the name of research.
But the more I reflect on this, I'm like, yeah, so you're a master herbalist. All I had was her. Growing up, you counseled other people, basically, like a wise woman. Followed with your decades of doing intuitive work and talking with dead people. And now I'm here doing the same thing. I kind of feel like you can't escape some things. Sometimes if you're just the way you are, you're the way you are. You either expose it and help other people, or you bury it and pretend you're not.
Yeah. I gotta tell you something. Summer hated growing up with me. In some ways, I dragged her through terrible Experiences, because I just always loved to try all kinds of things. It didn't matter to me what it was. I wanted to find out about it. And I would take her through it. Like, you probably all know, if you listen to my shows, that I was in a coup. Not a coup once. No, no, no, no. It wasn't that. It was a cult.
Who did we overthrow?
Mom, I don't remember that one. I was in a cult by accident because I really liked their food. I somehow got pulled in. That's a long story. I'm not going to go there. But Summer was just a kid, and she was there, of course, with me. And we stayed up really late, so she was up really, really late getting indoctrinated. And we had to wear things around our necks.
Oh, they did all the cult things where they put you in the dark room and they wouldn't let you out for a couple days. And.
Your experience, I didn't know anything about, but. But I remember going through. I forget what it was, but it was with that group. And I. I made you wear these aluminum triangles on your head. And I wore one, too, because they prevented something being lifted by the aliens. I don't remember what it was, but I made you wear them 24 7. And I remember driving uptown. You were in the passenger seat. I was driving. Of course, you were just young, six maybe. And you were complaining, I don't want to wear this. I don't want to wear this at the grocery store. I don't want to. Summary.
It's for your own good. You have two triangles on your head. Yeah.
Yes. And I remember what stopped that. They told us, and we read research, that if you get these special triangles and you put fruit underneath them, the fruit will never rot. Well, my fruit rotted. And I think that's when you got to where your last triangle.
You know what? I actually kept those brass triangles until I was like, 15, and I think I just gave them away to the Salvation Army. I've been trying to buy one since. And you know what? Yeah, you know why? Because they're back in fashion. They're very in with the influencer crowd now. And you can see people wearing them and talking about you put your crystals under them and charge up and everything.
It's bullshit.
And now we're marked explicit. Thanks.
What does that mean?
That means if you're cursing in your podcast, you have to mark it so that no little kids can, you know, get in trouble listening to this.
Oh, really?
Yeah. Oh, I guess you haven't been doing that on your show, huh?
No, I never did that.
Well, you've been lucky, sliding under the radar.
Oh, you all should listen to my show. I felt free over there to do or say whatever. Whatever pleased me.
Mom's show is the Dear Venus show. It's a podcast. You can find it, you know, wherever you're at, wherever you're listening to this, my show right now, you can. You can hear hers the same place. Go look her up.
Can I tell them about my mailing list?
Yes, get on Mom's mailing list. You'll find all kinds of weird things coming your way.
She said, now, mom, don't advertise yourself. It's tacky.
Well, I mean, you can a little bit, but, you know, don't go on and on and on.
No, I won't. My website is Godisalwayshappy.com. yes, Godisalwayshappy.com and if you want to get on my mailing list for my podcast and other things that I put in afterwards, just go to godisawayshappy.com a form falls down, you fill it out. You're on my podcast list, and you can cancel anytime. But you also get a free mojo. Recorded Mojo from me. And every week in my shows, I call a name from that list, and they get a free private reading with me. That's all I'm gonna say. Perfect.
And everyone should go do it. So mom and I, we're gonna wrap up here, but just for anybody who's just listening for the first time, you're probably wondering, who the heck are these people? Mom and I do very similar things. I read minds. She reads minds. We both talk to people, whether they're inside a body or outside a body, as I like to say it. I do my flow dreaming, my manifesting stuff. Mom does something different than me. She does mojos. You want to say what those are? She does a kind of energy activation that's kind of like that peacock you heard earlier.
It's really strange what I do. I work with people to help them change things for the better. They bring their problems to me. I have an ability to look at things and make them really simple. I'm simple. Maybe that's why. But also, I started a number of years ago, I started just shouting out sounds. Our mother used to do this. My mother used to do this. She. When we were teenagers and younger and we would be complaining, I don't have a boyfriend or I have pimples or whatever. Oh, sit down. She says, I can fix that. Don't Worry what? And she was. She looked like a movie star, by the way. She just was a gorgeous woman. But she'd leap out of her chair and she starts doing, making noise about whatever she wanted to happen for us, whatever we wanted. And so I found myself. We all thought she was crazy, but it would usually work. So I started just spontaneously starting doing this with people. And on my show. I couldn't help it, but I'll just do things like, I'll send you a good mojo. I'll show you what I mean. Some people feel them. They actually feel them. And they also feel good effects from them. So I'm going to stand back from the microphone. I'm wishing you all good things. I only good. I only wish for good things. I'm asking for the most benevolent outcome for all of you in your lives, for whatever you want, need or have. That all the best works out quickly and easily now. Boom, boom, boom. Mojo, mojo, mojo. And they're all different. And if you listen to the recording, they're still working. I have them on my website, Godisalwayshappy.com with music. And they're all for all different kinds of things in your life. You can check it out yourself. Did I answer that question? Yeah, I do stuff like that.
And then some. And then some.
And I gotta just tell you one weird thing I did the other day by accident.
Okay.
I was in the driveway and the UPS man pulled in and he had a little package for me and I took it and thank you very much. And he was walking away and I don't know what happened. Summer, this is getting. I'm doing this more and more. I started doing the energy mojo things without thinking, and I always ask permission. All of a sudden he's walking away and all of a sudden I go. And I thought, oh, my God, what am I doing? And he turned around and he looked at me like, what the hell? And my mouth was open, my eyes were as big as dog bowls, and I didn't know what to say. What do you say? And then he trotted to his van and he took off. And I said, oh, my God.
God, can you imagine this crazy white haired witch running out from her old house, chasing you to the truck, going, you'll be lucky if he ever comes back again, Mom.
I know.
I hope you haven't ordered anything off Amazon lately. All right, I think we're going to wrap things up. Yeah. You could hear more from us?
Yeah, if you want to. I still think if they like hearing from us, I still have a Bunch of stuff I wanted to tell you that happened to my sister Candy.
Okay, we're gonna have to do a second one of these. But I wanted to give people. I wanted to give people some spooky stories. Obviously they're not spooky. I think that's the weirdest thing about us. You know, we just do this work and it's not ever been a big deal. It's just, that's the thing. We're just very like, well, this is what we do. This is what we do.
And we're very careful to only do good for people and animals. I work on animals too. I work on anything.
Me too. And obviously we don't, you know, even ups men who are running away. But I mean, a lot of stuff today is all coded and all this mystical stuff and you gotta be part of this group or coven or this or that.
And nope, we don't care where you go, what you do.
Yeah, I mean, it's just energy is energy. And if you do it, you do it and you do it right and you do it well and you do it with conscious and consciousness and love and the right intention and that's it anyway.
That's right.
So there we go. I think it's a wrap, Mom.
I think so too. And it's lovely meeting everybody I haven't met yet. And it's good seeing all of you who've been with me for so long. I love you all.
I love you all too. And I hope you guys really enjoyed this peek into the wide world of us. What do we call ourselves?
All right, darling, I'll see you soon too. Love you. All right, love you, mom. Bye now. Bye. So there you have it.
Ah, my mom and I, I do apologize. There were several places when doing the peacock noises or the mojos and my laughing where the mic gets really distorted. My mom can't hear very well and if I didn't turn my mic up, she was not able to hear me, which led to some of the distortion. But I'm sure you've all forgiven us that and I'm wishing you all a beautiful spooky season. Spooky day. Remember, it's all beautiful and perfect and right. All the ghost stories, all the stories about energy and everything. So blessings to you all and I'll see you again for another episode of Flow Dreaming.
