BONUS: The Simulated Nature of Reality with Brandon Beachum
29 Jan 2026 · 24 min
Podcast episode: a Flow Dreaming bonus interview (host Summer McStravick) with Brandon Beachum (Positive Head podcast). They discuss whether reality is a holographic simulation/video-game-like environment and propose its purpose as a practice-space for soul growth. Beachum summarizes his book The Golden Key: Modern Alchemy to Unlock Infinite Abundance (a concise distillation of ~25 years of work) and highlights practical approaches to abundance centered on trust, love, surrender/non-resistance and flow; he also describes destiny cards as a divination tool and offers a promotional free-book code via the Golden Key site and Flow Dreaming.

What is the nature of our reality?
Are we living in a holographic universe or simulation or even a video game of some type? Well, I know the perfect person to ask this question to.
It's my old friend Brandon Beacham.
He's the host of the Positive Head podcast. And I first met Brandon years ago. We've been pretty much podcasting side by side for, well, forever. And I wanted to reconnect and ask him, what do you think about the true nature of our reality and what's going on in the world today? Turns out he's written a book about it called the Golden Key, Modern Alchemy to Unlock Infinite Abundance. So of course I wanted to ask him. Well, share these eight keys and let's talk about abundance while we're at it. So let's dive into this strange and.
Interesting world right now. Flow Dreaming still kinda Woo Woo is just what it sounds like. An escape into the world of woo. Also a ride into you and how to feel happier, wiser and more self aware in every way. It's your ultimate journey into personal growth and inner power. We'll explore ideas like how your energy self influences the kinds of opportunities you encounter, or how your personal growth can drive your business growth, or even how that feeling of being stuck is really always coming from something else. We just have to figure out what. That's right. We're a dash of woo woo.
A sprinkle of self care, a heap of problem solving and pattern busting, and.
A giant cup of encouragement. We're going to relight so much passion, purpose, self love and confidence in you that, that you practically stagger. I'm Summer McStravic, your host and welcome to Flow Dreaming. Still kind of woo Woo.
Brandon, welcome. I've just told everybody all about you and they're just can't wait to hear your voice now.
Well, I hope I don't disappoint, but if I do, you'll get over it.
Yeah, exactly. I want us to get deep into some topics around abundance. Around your last book, you have eight keys. You have things you want to share with us about life and what's going on in this planet and our existence in the universe. It's just so juicy. So let's just start your. Your book, the Golden Key, Modern Alchemy to Unlock Infinite Abundance. Okay then, what's inside this book? Now I want to know what, what, what?
You know, the idea that the concept for me was, you know, I'm very verbose. I have plenty to say. I've done over 2,000 episodes of the Positive Head podcast and, you know, 25 years of exploration of the ultimate nature of reality and waxing poetic and talking to anyone who will listen about, you know, these topics. I thought, you know, what I should do? I should condense all my thoughts and perspectives into one. You know, make something concise for once. Go figure. So 100 pages, three hours to listen to. And that's. That was sort of the aim. I'm going to make some relatively short and sweet that sort of summarizes my 25 year journey with my, you know, because we're all, in a way, regurgitating the same stuff. These are ancient teachings and philosophies and ideas, and yet filtered through summer, they have a certain flavor and a certain way of delivery and a certain way of landing with a certain person who is a match to receive it more efficiently from you than for me. So, yeah, this will be my version of the Brandon Beacham distillation, if you will, regarding the ultimate nature of reality and how to unlock and create the most abundant life possible, which I think is the aim of everyone listening, you know, not. And of course not just financial abundance. A lot of times people think of financial abundance, but that's just really one form and you could even argue as a byproduct of someone who is abundant. Right. Yeah, so true. Yeah. And so what, you know, what are health, I think being the ultimate wealth, a lot of people would agree with time connection. You know, there's so many ways to be abundant. And so. Yeah, that's, that's kind of. Okay. Well, you know, I definitely feel blessed and abundant in my own life. And, you know, what have I. What have I seen? What have I found? And you know, here's. Let me try and lay it out concisely and here's the eight keys that I've sort of landed on.
So the eight, the eight methods or techniques or ways of thinking or ways of practicing. I'm assuming. All laid out.
Exactly.
You mentioned this a couple times. You know, the nature of our reality. I am curious. I'm sure it's holographic multiverse simulation would tell me, because if that is truly the net that we all kind of work within or flow within, you know, that becomes the material we work with. Right, right. So what's your take on that?
What's the nature of the situation in which we find ourselves? Right is the big question. And of course, there's a lot of evidence pointing to the things you just touched on, you know, like simulation, argument and theory and the holographic Nature of reality and how this place very much mirrors, you know, a video game in a lot of ways. You know, it's like, oh, what is a video game? It's made up of light particles. What are we made up of? Light particles. So what is quantum physics saying about, you know, what's happening when we're not Consciousness isn't observing it. It's in a state of quantum superposition. Well, when. Where's the castle? In the video game, until you turn your character that direction, it propagates in front of you as you're moving. And so there's just a lot of evidence to support that. Yes, this is a holographic experience, a simulation, if you will. And one of the things I talk about in the book is like, what is the purpose of a simulation? It's typically to practice something in order to get better in a safe environment. So think of, you're gonna be a jet fighter. You know, that's the path, your career path. They don't just throw you into a 25 million dollar jet and say, good luck, we hope you don't crash. How about let's get you on the simulator first. Let's make sure you know what the heck you're doing before the stakes are higher. Right. And so I think to some degree that's what's happening here. We're in a certain level of reality where it's like, okay, you are all fragments of, you know, fractals of the one source, consciousness that creates and animates all things. Therefore your divine, you know, beings, dare I say God, you know, in drag, as I think. Was it Ram Dass that said, said that? I think. But yeah, treat everyone as the God. They're God in drag. And. Okay, well, before you get into the, the, the big leagues where the stakes are even higher with your creations, let's create a scenario where, you know, it's. The stakes are maybe a little lower. Where, okay, you lost your physical body, but at least you weren't, you know, you weren't lost to eternity in some, you know, some hellish scenario that you couldn't find your way out of. So that's sort of my thoughts and theory on why we're, we're here. We're here getting our chops on how to manifest and how to create and become, you know, we're little acorns learning how to grow into oak trees.
You know, that that begs the question, what is our personal power in this simulation? Because if you're a game character, I mean, you, you can make all These choices. But you're still limited by what's being offered by the game. You know, what, what you find to put in your backpack as you, you know, walk down the, walk down the path.
Yeah.
So what's our personal power? And I wonder if this is also maybe one of the keys. I don't know.
Oh yeah, you know, that's a, it's a great question is. So, you know, think about it. You mentioned a game and the limitations of the game and you know, you start off a lot of times anyone who's played a video game, most people have at least played some, probably more than they should. But you start off and you're sort of navigating through whatever's been pre fabricated for you which is, you know, that's what's happening with each of. We are born here, we don't remember choosing to be born here and what do we got to work with? What's around, where's the stone ax I can pick up, where's the, you know, tools and the, the, you know, so there's a throttle to some degree on our power by design. I believe. However, the caveat to that is as you learn the lessons on different levels you keep upgrading. You know, think of the advanced level of the video game. You've got all the armor and the biggest sword and the now you can fly and you know, so I think there's something similar happening with us as we learn the lessons that our souls are meant to learn and we navigate through the, the, the challenges that are really meant to make us stronger. You know, smooth sea is never made for a skilled sailor and we all came to be skilled sailors.
So.
So as we sort of get our chops, you know, the levels, you know, reminiscent of source, which we are, are infinite. So it's a never ending game. Whereas that may be one difference compared to the one that you know, pop into your Nintendo, whatever. The latest version of Nintendo is Sony PlayStation, your Xbox.
I don't know, I play on my iPhone.
Exactly. So, so yeah, I think, I think yes, there are built in limitations but by design so that you can continue to expand your power as you pass the test. You don't want to, you don't want to, you know, take you know, a senior level exam your first week of kindergarten. That just wouldn't make any sense. Right. You're going to find your way through it where then you're ready for more.
So in that case, what would be some of the exams around? Let's go back to abundance. What are the lessons that we're learning around that. What are the things that we're growing in our power around that concept?
It's interesting you bring that up because my partner Karen has really gotten into destiny cards lately. Are you familiar with destiny cards? So they're based off of the 52 playing cards, which were originally a divination modality. And, you know, they predate tarot, actually. So if you look at the 52 cards in the deck, there's 52 weeks in a year, four suits, four seasons, 12 royals. If you add up all the cards and the joker is one and a quarter, they add up to 365 and a quarter. So unlike. And they're based on astrology and tied into astrology. Right. And so it's really interesting because she's gotten really deep in learning this modality and, you know, doing readings for people and things like that, and which, by the way, if you ever wanted one, reach out to me. I can connect you with her. It's really fascinating because you can also take. So instead of 1 in 12, you know, like astrology, you'll have 1 in 52 of the. Like, I'm a king of hearts. So you can take a king of hearts and put it together with another card and then get a relationship reading as well. And they're. It's fascinatingly like robust and deep. And she was just sharing with me last night what my Pluto card is. And my Pluto card is a four of spades, I believe, if I'm recalling and what that represents. She goes, this is typically, your Pluto card is like your. Your biggest obstacle in your life. And it's interesting because it plays into what you just asked, which is, you know, in my case, overcoming the idea that I need to work harder to make money and survive and doing something just for money. Chasing that fear, you know, it's a fear motivated. I got to work real, real hard and, you know, there might not be enough and I'm going to run out. And that for me personally, as someone who's, you know, definitely a doer and has done. Has worked hard in my life, yeah, you're very productive. And she's like, that's actually. That's actually your, you know, that's your lesson, actually, is you don't need to work harder. You can work smarter. You can relax into the trust that you are infinitely supported and upheld. And, you know, abundance is your birthright, not something that must be clawed out or else, you know, all is lost and you'll be, you know, and so, yeah, I don't quite recall exactly how you framed the question initially, but that's what kind of comes up for me is that, you know, by virtue of who you are and what you are, and by virtue of being you are, you are one with the Source Consciousness that creates and animates all things. All the abundance in the known universe and beyond is literally an extension of self. Like you couldn't be abundant unless you actually were so abundant that you created an experience to see what it would be like to cut yourself off from it. I'm such a powerful creator, I could trick myself into being, feeling and experiencing non abundance. But underneath it all, that even comes from being abundant enough to be able to choose that thing that really isn't tied into the ultimate truth.
Yeah, that makes sense in a strange way. I can see the logic circling back around.
Yeah, it's, it's a little bit tricky, right? It's like, it's like a divine dichotomy, you know, we, you and I are separate. True. You and I are one. True. It's these relative truths and these, this paradoxical situation that life presents.
Yes. Something could be both a particle and a wave.
Yeah, right.
One of the keys. Then let's just drop in. What is one very practically that someone that you feel like. In fact, let's say most people would immediately benefit from understanding or applying like the very first thing. Let's say you've got a person sitting here and they're kind of suffering and they're feeling like life is not abundant. I don't know what this man is saying. It's crazy. And you're like, no, no, no, no. Just do this one thing.
Okay, I'm going to rattle off the sixth key and the seventh key because I feel like they really tie well into each other. The sixth key is trust, the mystery. And the seventh key is love. What comes when you can get what become aware and wise enough in your, your, your view of this journey and tap into enough knowledge, inner knowledge, re dash membering, coming back together with the truth of who and what you are. That. Okay, I don't know much, but I know that I'm one with the Source Consciousness that creates and animates all things. And it is benevolent at its core. So whatever's happening is happening for me, not to me. And when you can get to that point and, and, and then understand, you know, Eckhart Tolle said, you know, can I be the space for this? Right. Whatever's coming, you know, or my friend Matt Kahn said it well too. Yeah. Whatever arises Love that, love what comes. Same thing, right? And it's like, if you get to the point where, you know, I have my ideas about what I want and what should happen next, and, you know, like the Rolling Stones song, you might not get what you want, but you'll get what you need. And I know that. I know that much about my situation. I'm trusting this process, you know, and then I can make it a practice to find the beauty in what comes and to love what comes and to be the space for it. If you can get that piece down and relax into that, you get really get on the fast track that knowing it's happening for me, not to me, even if I can't connect the dots as to how and why, and it feels very unpleasant. That is a huge, huge turning point in one's journey, I believe.
I would. I would look at that and say it feels like a lack of resistance. Getting into a space of lack of resistance.
Right, right.
If the resistance is the thing that. That pushes things away from you.
Yeah.
What you're saying is there's no resistance, therefore all abundance can come, especially the ones that most align to me.
Yeah.
What I need.
Right, right, right. I think of some of the teachings of Abraham. Abraham. Esther Hicks, I'm sure you're familiar where she, you know, she talks about this where it's like, look, if you can just stop paddling upstream, you know, it's just. You don't even have to be paddling downstream. Nature will take its course with you. Just stop the resisting, stop clinging to the rocks and getting beaten to pulp by, you know, this resistance to the flow of life. If you can get into that state, you've really. You've really done something. And it's. It's. The irony of that is it's. It's not do, do, do, scramble, scramble, scramble. It's like, okay, I'm surrendering to whatever. Whatever's going to come, you know, and making the best choice and decision I can with the information that I have and let the rest go.
You are so speaking my language right now. It is crazy. You said flow. You said current. You said everything. Okay, so why is surrendering so hard? Like, why do we not just naturally do it? Why do we not want to surrender? What are we afraid of?
I think we get so in our minds about. And. And we've been. We. We put ourselves into a simulation where there's a lot of noise around. Here's what you have to do to be successful. Here's what you have to achieve. Here's how you have to work hard. Here's you've been. We're programmed. We're.
We're.
We're computers, right? We're like biological computers. And we've been programmed with concepts that are, you know, contradictory to what we're just talking about. So you have a whole culture and system that would tell you that's madness. You know my great example, I'll reference my partner Karen again, her, she, she went, she got her master's recently. She's a speech therapist and you know, has worked with children with disabilities and like intense situations and you know, really hard worker and took this, you know, mini eight year path to get her get there. And then she decided to step away after getting her license a year or so ago and work on helping to run the Mystic Manor and events and fire dancing and Cards of Destiny, you know, going deep on like learning that modality and sharing it with people. Now she comes from a family where her mother was like, you know, really high up in a hospital. Her father is an executive at intel and she had a conversation with him the other day and he's like, you know, kind of like, we're worried about you. You know, you've went, you got your, you went down this really smart path and all the schooling and got your master's and now you're doing, you, you know, with this hippie guy and doing all these fire dancing and, you know, throwing events. There's no future in that. And you know, she kind of tried to explain to them not, not having this sort of perspective, you know, like, I'm following the flow of what my highest excitement is and I trust that I'm going to get what it. And his response was, you know, like, hold on. So you're just going to trust that everything works out for your best and greatest good? Like, are you like crazy? You know, and it's like, yeah, that's exactly right. That's what I'm going to do. But it's a great example of a, of a f and daughter seeing the world through these two different lenses that we're referring to. Like, to him, it was like he's making a very obvious statement that is absurd from his vantage point that someone would even consider. And he's like, she's like, yeah, you nailed it. Well said.
The paradigm of control is safety, whereas expression and freedom is unsafe in his mind, whereas she just feels the opposite. Control is non safety. Yeah, right. That's death to your soul, essentially.
You got it. You got it. And this security is an Illusion is.
Is being able to flow and move.
Yeah. And this. This security, this idea of security is like, such a joke, you know, it can be. You know, his. His safe haven is, like, so flimsy. It's. It's ridiculous, you know, and it's like Chogyam trunk was said, you know. The bad news, you're falling through the air. You know, nothing to hang on to, no parachute. The good news is there's no ground.
I haven't heard that. That's great, Brandon. This is amazing. I know we could keep talking and talking and talking, but I have a feeling people want to know where to get your book, how to get your book, and you actually have this book for free, which is fantastic.
Yes, I do. Yes, I do. Yeah. If you go to Goldenkey Gift Gift and you use the code Flow Dreaming, you can get the audio and. Or ebook as a gift from. From me and Summer.
I know everyone is feeling a bit today, like, you know, what is safety? The world used to feel safe. Now it doesn't feel safe. My job used to feel safe. Now it doesn't feel safe. Abundance. I mean, everybody is looking for a different way, a different way of perceiving and being in this world, which, you know, the old ways of understanding what was grounded and safe around us stop being that way. I think for a lot of people.
Yeah.
So, yeah, we're all looking for this new path.
Well, just. Just when the, you know, the caterpillar thought its world was over, it became a butterfly. Right. And look at that process for the caterpillar. It's. It's. It's messy. There's a lot, you know, destruction.
It melts into the whole caterpillar's body, like, turns to musk.
Right. So metamorphosis, transformation. It's not necessarily pretty, pretty, but trust the process. There's, you know, something more beautiful. Something more beautiful coming. Yeah.
Awesome. Thank you so much, Brandon. That was a beautiful little mini dive into the depths of your thinking. I know there's so much more there. So I encourage anybody go check out his podcast, the Positive Head Podcast, and find out what else is going on in this mind of yours.
Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity, and it's so great to reconnect after all this time.
Thanks so much. And there you go, my friends. I hope that will give you some things to ponder, some ideas to chew on as you go through the rest of your day and that you very much enjoyed this interview between myself and Brandon Beacham.
And I'll see you all next time.
