A writer answers Mary's question about whether inspiration is influence or motivation. Speaker B says it's both: influence is the external trigger from news or people, motivation is the internal drive that keeps you going on long projects. Influence alone fades fast without motivation behind it.
a writer, as an author. I have a question from Mary in Facebook, uh, so I wonder if inspiration is a kind of influence or is it a motivation? So influence versus motivation, what is it for you?
Yeah, I, I, I would say it's both because first we get influenced, uh, and we— whatever we do and whatever, uh, where— wherever we are in life, we get influenced by influenced by many things. We can be influenced by news, by people around us, or by things we read or, or, or something like that. So maybe it can be a trigger, that influence, but after that it's motivation to keep going over time to do something about it. Because you can be influenced and you learn, you say, oh, that's really interesting, I love it, and go to another call or move to another call. But if you want to stay there and to keep doing, let's say, whether as I said, uh, writing a book, a blog, uh, a video, I don't know, anything. You need that, that motivation to continue doing whatever you are doing, whether it's competitive intelligence or something else. Uh, and, and I really believe in that. If, if, uh, influence alone, if you are influenced, it won't help because, uh, the moment you have another influence, you will forget the first influence. Motivation will keep you, uh, going, uh, going there. And this is why, going back to curiosity, when you want to learn, uh, people will, will have to stop you from doing that, not motivate you to do that. You are so motivated in that. And sometimes I have that, that comment because people don't like looking for that information, analyzing, etc. But we love it, so, uh, we do it. And people say, how can you get motivated with that? Well, it's simply who we are.
