Two founders debate whether to build an MVP for a specific market segment or test with focus groups first. They argue for picking your three most important products or markets, communicating that choice upfront to stakeholders, and expanding from there rather than trying to please everyone at once.

So, uh, do you select a specific segment for MVP, or do you consider this to be a better approach than, say, a focus group?
Well, uh, do you select a specific segment for MVP? Okay, uh, if I understand well, do we prioritize? And yes, definitely, we prioritize even the topics we're working on. Or if we have, let's say, several products, we will select our markets or key intelligence topics, we will select those key intelligence topics that can provide most, the most value for the organization. So we know that some areas will not be covered at the beginning, we know that, but we, we, we, we, we, we are comfortable with that and we share it with stakeholders. Really important to communicate with stakeholders at the beginning to, to, to, to, to tell them that we will help But here's the situation, here's where we are going to start, and it's a conversation. So if people say no, no, this topic or this product or this market is really important, is strategic right now, we need to work on that— good, it will help us to prioritize. Doesn't mean that we will just do because people are asking for, but we will assess it, we will prioritize, and we will come up with a list of priorities. We will never have the time to do everything, but we will for sure have the time to do the most important things. And this is, this is, uh, really, uh, something I, I, I live by because, uh, if it answers the question, because when we're talking about specific segment, I hear a specific product, specific areas, topics, markets. And for that, definitely. And the rule of 3, I believe in that too. So what are the 3 most important products? Let's start. What is the most important product, let's say, then the 3 most important products, then the 10. Most important product if we have that. Same for the market, same for, for everything, and we build upon that.
