Dr. Andy Galpin explains that saunas offer real health benefits and beat doing nothing, but they're not a replacement for exercise. The molecular and clinical evidence shows they work differently, so you need both.

Getting hot is a great way to simulate exercise. But be really clear here. Saunas are not an exchange for exercise. If the question is, I can't work out today, a sauna is better than nothing, significantly better. And a lot of the research that you're talking about is in people who actually don't even exercise in and of itself is a positive health benefit. But we have to make sure we have that caveat, because that's one of the big things as we popularized heat sauna, jacuzzi, thinking it's an exchange or alternative or it's even on equal footing. And you're gonna have a really hard time convincing me with any molecular data or, or any randomized control trials or any of our epidemiology that saunas outpace exercise in physical movement.
