Gary Brecka argues sodium isn't the enemy. A Wiley Journal of Headaches study found an inverse relationship between sodium levels and migraine frequency, and he explains migraines as arising from osmotic gradients in the dura. He uses Baja Gold mineral salt plus mineral supplements as his personal remedy.

We have been lied to about sodium. Do not be afraid of sodium, especially not just iodized table salt, but mineral salts. Only about 75% of this crystal is actually sodium. The rest of it is all trace minerals. There's a really interesting article published in the Wiley Journal of Headaches finding an inverse relationship between sodium and migraine headaches. Meaning as sodium went up, migraine headaches went down. And why would that be? Because pain can cannot be coming from the brain. There are no pain receptors in the brain, so your brain does not generate pain signals. Oh. Even though you think that a migraine is coming from your brain, it's not. It's coming from the covering of the brain called the dura. And it hates being stretched and contracted. What determines whether or not it's stretching or contracting very often is the sodium gradient called osmosis, the movement of water across membranes. By changing that osmotic gradient, you can relieve very often migraine headaches. I'll actually put a post to the story below. I love the Baja gold mineral salt. 91 trace minerals in addition to sodium. And you add this to water. I put two of these droppers, two of these squirts right into water. And then sometimes I'll add things like perfect amino or hydrogen tablets and just whack it back. You're going to get 91 trace minerals. You're going to get sodium. It may be the secret to your migraine headaches.
