Gary Brecka explains how wearing a weighted compression vest during everyday activities like airport walks builds muscle and boosts metabolism. The vest distributes weight along your spine and abdomen, and Brecka says it combats age-related muscle loss. He typically uses it for runs up to 5 km and notices a performance difference when he takes it off.

So here's one of my favorite travel hacks and I and I like these kinds of biohacks that don't actually add any time to your day. One of those is just wearing weight. So this is heavy. These look like they're just stitched patches, but they actually are holding weight. When I'm walking long distance in the airport, going up and down an escalator, this one is great. You just add weight to your workout so you get more out of less. It improves your metabolism and actually builds lean muscle. It fights sucrapia, which is age related muscle wasting. And then this is the one that I use for working out. I love this thing. You kind of become one with the vest. I love rocking. There's a lot of evidence that weight and compression is better than just weight. So what this does, it sort of distributes the weight the same way that you would gain weight if you were to put the pounds on. It's a lot more snug than you'd think. I zip it up and it's very snug to my body. The weights are distributed down my spine and around my flanks, on, on my side and down through my abdomen. And it's actually hugs my body. So you can, you can actually move. You could hit pads in this. You can run in this. I don't usually run more than about 5k with this, but I noticed the difference between putting on a 5k or doing a long walk with my wife, having weight and not having weight. When you take it off, that's when you notice. But get more out of less.
