Gary Brecka uses red and near-infrared light therapy daily because infrared wavelengths penetrate tissue and boost cellular oxygen by displacing mitochondrial nitric oxide, acting like a battery charger for cells. Visible red light stimulates collagen and elastin, improves circulation, and reduces inflammation.

The red light is one of my favorite daily therapies. So if you look at these lights, it'll look like they're strips that are off. Those are your infrared and near-infrared. Those are outside the visible spectrum, but they're actually some of the most therapeutic. They go the deepest into the skin. They actually penetrate the wall of the mitochondria. They kick out a gas called mitochondrial nitric oxide and bring oxygen into the cell. So it's like a battery charger for your cells. On the superficial level, some of these red lights are really good for collagen, elastin, and fiber. They don't penetrate as deep, but they're very stimulatory to circulation. Circulation system to something called vasomotor, which is microvascular circulation. So getting nutrients to the skin, causing new blood vessel formation, circulation, reduction of the inflammatory cascade. This is one of my favorite therapies. I do it every single day.
