Gary Brecka argues doctors treat symptoms instead of root causes. Anxiety is a catecholamine imbalance, ADHD is overloaded attention pathways, and high blood pressure stems from elevated homocysteine. Fixing the underlying biochemical deficiency, not the symptom, is what actually works.

It's sad to me how we diagnose based on these outcomes, the symptoms of how people act, and we don't diagnose based on what the deficiency is. We don't actually define anxiety as a rise in catecholamines. We don't define attention deficit disorder as an attention overload disorder. We don't define high blood pressure as narrowed arteries from homocysteine. We define it as a problem with the heart. We medicate the heart even though we can't prove that the heart is committing a crime. And I think if we just began to redefine things as they are in the human body, we just began to get back to human physiology, we would really understand the root cause and the root deficiency of the vast majority of what is going on inside of our minds that's causing weight gain, water retention, poor focus and concentration. And I think humanity could live so much better if we just got back to giving the body the raw material that it needs to do its job.
