In this solo podcast episode, Gedalya Folk Rock Rabbi introduces his upcoming song "Holding On to a Vision," slated for release in August on his website folkrockrabbi.com. He explains the song’s central theme of commitment and perseverance—taking a breath and not surfacing until a goal is reached—drawing on his personal experience with fluctuating inspiration. Gedalya outlines his home‑production setup, detailing the Yamaha P143 digital piano, SE Electronics condenser microphone, drum machine, acoustic guitars, and a DIY vocal booth built from PVC pipe and acoustic blankets. He notes that the tracks will be sent out for mixing and mastering to achieve a commercially viable demo, which will be featured on a new website section called the Folk Rock Rabbi Experiment, dedicated to experimental yet release‑ready songs. He closes with an invitation for listeners to provide feedback or ask questions.

Okay, hey, it's Gedalya and I have a new podcast, and this is actually about a song that I'm releasing. It's coming out in August. It's available on my website now. It's called Holding On to a Vision. And this song has really been in the works for a long time. The idea has really been on my mind for years. The idea that, you know, inspiration, and I'm a person who really, you know, loves to be inspired, and I'm constantly, you know, hoping and praying for inspiration. At all times. And when a person that's inspired, you know, they just realize how much they can do and how much clarity they have with the inspiration and energized they feel. But sometimes inspiration isn't there, it goes away, you know, and it's not easy to continue moving forward when you don't have the inspiration. So this song, Holding On to a Vision, is really about a commitment. You know, a person makes a commitment and they take a breath, like it says in the song, take a breath and don't come up for air until you get there, is a very, very true statement. And anyone who has, you know, or is in the process of pursuing a dream, they realize that it's so easy to get distracted. And it's so important to just take that breath, really, and just go down and to put in the work, put in the hard work and the effort that it takes, and just don't come up for air until you get there. That's really, you know, that line kind of sums it up very much for me. And this song, I have not, haven't, produced it properly yet, which hopefully I will at some point. But right now I'm actually, it's the first song I'm using to start a new page on my website that's called the Folk Rock Rabbi Experiment. And on this page I'm hoping to have experimental songs, demos that are still hopefully commercially viable. They're able to be uploaded onto Spotify and they sound decent. It's just that it may not be the finished products. I am working from home with the— and I have a limited amount of resources, both with my equipment and both with my person, because I, you know, I have a drum machine, but I really stick to the program tracks. I'm not familiar with how to, uh, you know, add things, and I'm really not, um, I'm not getting into that right now, you know, trying to get better with the drum machine. I'm just using the tracks that it has, the, uh, set things that are in there. And I have a Yamaha P143 digital piano that has strings and organ and piano and different, like, vibes, different types of other instruments that I'm also taking advantage of and using. And a condenser mic, an SE Electronics condenser mic that I'm using. And I'm actually in the process of building a little bit of a vocal booth here for myself. I bought some PVC pipe and I so far have the frame for the booth, and I ordered some soundproof acoustic blankets, and hopefully that will be— give me a good sound. I'm using my acoustic guitars also into the condenser mic, and then I'm sending out the tracks for mixing and mastering. So hopefully whatever I put in there, the the person I sent it to for mixing and mastering will be able to take it even to the next level and really give it a good sound and make it something that really is enjoyable to listen to and a nice addition to my catalog of songs. So if you are interested in hearing the song, "Holding On to a Vision," please come to my website, folkrockrabbi.com. You can hear it there on the new page, and it will be released in August. And that's about it for this song. If you have anything you ever want to ask, any questions, any feedback, I'm very open to hearing from anyone. And this is Gedalya Folk Rock Rabbi Rabbi Gedalya Folk Rock Rabbi wishing you all only good things.
