A new song called Liquid Fire uses bourbon as a metaphor for unwinding, with lyrics that emphasize moderation. The creator is performing live concerts next week at two Virginia prisons, Haynesville and State Farm, and welcomes interview requests about spirituality in America.
This is a new song I'm working on. It's called Liquid Fire. It's about bourbon. I don't mean to promote alcohol. Sometimes, you know, late at night, you know, you just want to relax, though. Everything in moderation.
First sip's a river, chilly on the tongue. Washes off the city dust when the workday is done. The rush and the noise outside fade into the night. Bourbon in my hand, I'm feeling light. Liquid fire burning through the haze, turns a crowded city into my home place. It's my getaway when I'm needing something higher. I'm flying high in the city on liquid fire. Warming up my soul while the streetlights glow. The city's in a rush, but I'm taking it slow. Thoughts start drifting, leaving my troubles behind. Just me and the moment, some peace I rarely find. Liquid fire burning through the haze turns a crowded city into my own place. It's my getaway. I'm needing something higher. Flying high in the city with fire. Rolling smooth and bold. Cuts through the chill when the city gets cold. Late night walks through the dreams of old. Deep in my heart, oh. Thinking about tomorrow as the city lights fade. The past is in the window. Goodbye to yesterday. Bourbon is a friend of mine when I need to feel free. But I know the real courage has to come from me.
Gotta always have that line in there to make Sure no one gets the wrong idea from this song.
Liquid fire, burning through the haze. Turns a crowded city into my own place. It's my getaway when I'm needing something higher. I'm flying high in the city on liquid fire. I'm flying high in the city on liquid fire.
Anyway, just a little update on, uh, going to Virginia next week to two prisons in Virginia to play some concerts in Haynesville and State Farm. And if you're around and you live in Virginia, you live in any of these places and you want to get together and do one of my interviews on the spiritual pulse of America, please get in touch at newsongusa@gmail.com.
