If you think people might buy your products or services without checking out the competition, you're living in a dream world. On average, customers visit 3 websites before they make a purchase. However, most businesses talk as if they're the only ones doing what they're doing. That's never the case. You always have competition. The average customer is superficial. When comparing options, they usually only look at the most obvious things like price and basic features. If you're not clear about why they should choose you, they'll either go with the category leader since they're better known, or they'll go with the cheapest. Well, why pay more if everyone looks the same? So what do you do? You compare yourself with the competition before they do. When you proactively compare yourself with the competition, you can highlight differences that may be non-obvious. And focus on your advantages. Your competitors won't do that, and now you're in a better position to influence the narrative.
