Most businesses try to appeal to everyone and end up appealing to no one. Instead, be explicit about who your product isn't for. This pre-qualifies buyers, makes sales faster, and lets customers decide if it's right for them without feeling tricked.

Most businesses ensconce themselves around a centralised, inoffensive, yet ultimately bland messaging position. So few are willing to step outside their self-inflicted restriction. Many businesses are happy to define the audience they are looking to target, but they are uncomfortable doing the opposite. They are unwilling to send out messaging or signalling that potentially alienates them from audiences they are not looking to target. A message suggesting "we're not for you" doesn't have to be presented as offensive, polarizing, or antagonistic. By being honest and upfront, you're not only pre-qualifying the buyers that contact you, you're helping the customer make a more informed purchase decision.
