The excerpt is a diarized transcript with multiple participants (labeled SPEAKER A, B, C, D) who appear to be family members talking informally about their day: morning running and training (including mileage, a 10K, listening to audiobooks, using MapMyRun, hand warmers), recovery and diet choices while preparing for a marathon, a family walk, and attending a Chamber of Commerce annual meeting where their chamber received recognition and an upcoming Glenn Beck appearance was announced. The speakers also discuss a social-media before/after photo showing personal transformation and reflect on accomplishment and community support. The tone is conversational and vlog-like, documenting day 4 of a 28-day series.

Gorgeous morning this morning. I guess it's probably by now in the, uh, I guess probably in the low 40s. I think when we started out, it was probably in the upper 30s. Uh, we, uh, we found these little hand warmers to just really be valuable. We tuck them in our glove and and, uh, they're only a dollar for a set of two. And so on the really cold days, we tuck those in there. They make them for your shoes too. I haven't tried that yet. Got in a 10K this morning, and you know, I was thinking about the video I did yesterday and looking at that meal, and I'm just— I'm really hungry. I'm hungry the past couple of days, and I wonder if that's just because I'm putting in more mileage. I'm up over I guess over 40 miles a week now. And so I guess that's probably why I'm so hungry. But I listen to audiobooks when I'm running. Right now I'm listening to a book called Epic Content Marketing. I've forgotten the guy's name. And I use MapMyRun, which I think is— it's in the App Store and it's a product that's produced by Under Armour. I think you can get an upgraded version. I just use a free version. But it kind of keeps track of my mileage. I think it's a little short sometimes, but then again, every time I measure it, it ends up being about on target, so I'm not real sure. But head off to the club, get our cycling and a few exercises in, and then we'll get the day started. The neat thing about Thursday is it is our day off. Gosh, it's just really pretty out here right now. The sky's so clear and the air's so crisp, but, uh, I think Thursday afternoon, from Thursday afternoon until Saturday morning, we're kind of off. We don't take a total approach to being completely off. We'll still walk and we'll still watch what we eat. And that's the other thing, I'm really kind of between now and the marathon, I'm not really sticking tight to a diet. I'm watching what I'm eating, I'm trying to avoid carbs, but I'm also realistic in the fact that I'm gonna put a lot of stress on my body in the next 28 days. And so I'm, I'm probably eating a little bit more than I would have normally, but off to the club.
My lip is numb. Yeah. So I was just telling Dad that he beat me today by 4 minutes. I tried running a 10K today and it was mostly just a mental thing. I really didn't want to be out here. I woke up this morning kind of like, I really don't want to get up. I ran pretty hard yesterday for 4 miles. And—
On that stupid treadmill.
Yeah, on a stupid treadmill, it was raining, and I just kind of figured I have to be out here. At least, you know, I can sleep a little later today, but at least I can get it done today. So it was just a mental thing for me today. I pushed through. So congratulations, Dad, you beat me today. I think the real reason why it took me so long and why it was so hard for me today was it's kind of like I deserved to have a day off. I mean, Thursday is normally our last day, and I ran really hard the day before, and it's just kinda like I was sitting, laying in my bed, it's like, I don't wanna go out there because I deserve a day off. And at that point, you need to just realize that you need to just do it because the day off is around the corner. That's the reason why we're going early today so we can go and get it done and not worry about it today.
Yep, same breakfast. Yep, same lunch.
It is a cold but beautiful day out, and I'm doing part of the video because Dad is actually getting ready. So he's getting ready to go to an event, but we, the three of us, my mother, my brother over here, and I are actually out on our walk.
It's Thursday evening around 5:15, and normally I would be out on the walk with the family, but tonight is the Chamber of Commerce annual meeting, and so I'm going to go and connect with some folks to reconnect with some of my customers, maybe meet a couple of new people. It's a great opportunity for networking, and so I, I go to these when I can. And unfortunately, my family is already out on the walk. I'm going to miss that tonight, but I'll stop here in a second and say hello to them, or actually goodbye to them, and then I'll be on my way.
Hello!
Double recording!
Come in. Kind of look like, uh, like— Can I keep going?
Oh, it's a shame it won't.
Yeah, anyway, around and around.
So I'm gonna say goodbye to them and, uh, on my way to the annual meeting.
Love you, Dad. Love you, son.
Love ya.
It's a little bit tired here. It's the end of the evening on day 4. I called yesterday day 2, but it was actually day 3. And just got back from the Chamber Annual Meeting. It was a great event. A lot of exciting news about the chamber. Our chamber was voted National Chamber of the Year for 2015, which is a great honor of all the chambers in the United States, actually in Canada as well, and a few even internationally. So a great recognition. We're going to have Glenn Beck come and speak at our chamber in May, I think it is. And we heard a lot of announcements tonight that really are putting our community on the cutting edge. So very proud of that.
As far as staying on my diet and making sure that I didn't go too far overboard, I'm pretty proud of what I did tonight. I had 2 glasses of wine. That's 3.5 carbs each, so that's not too bad. Dinner was roast beef and green beans, and they were wrapped in bacon. They were amazing. And so I did pretty well there, did have one piece of bread, so nothing to be too, too worried about, especially with the amount of running that I'm doing right now. But no matter what you're doing, you want to make sure that you don't go too far off the reservation.
So tomorrow will be a day of rest.
We'll wrap up the week for work, and I won't do any running. Might do, might do a walk with the family. But just a really good day. I feel really good about what I got done today. Real, really good about— and then one last thing I wanted to mention before I sign off, because I don't know how I'm going to fit it into the video here, but I did post on Facebook today a picture of myself about a year ago and then a picture of me now wearing the same clothes. And I'm going to try to squeeze them into the video here.
So here's the post that I made much earlier today, about 13 hours ago. Comparing myself about a year apart. The picture on the left is about a year ago, and then the two pictures on the right I took today, or had taken today. The color is a little different, but they're the same outfit, and just a pretty dramatic difference.
Unbelievable! I mean, just so blessed to hear from so many people. I think, I think I had like a like 80 people who commented, not just liked it, but commented, and well over 150 people liked the photo. I never get that kind of traction, and so it just was nice to see that. And maybe what I learned more than anything today from that and from going to the meeting and from talking to a lot of great people that I care about and like very, very much, I actually love very, very much. The difference when you've gone through a change like I've gone through, I used to think that, you know, people would treat you differently because you looked different, and it has nothing to do with that. I'm 100% convinced that what it really has to do with is that people recognize that you've accomplished something and that it took a lot to do that, and that's what they really are recognizing. It's not what you look like, it's the fact that They recognize you've desired to accomplish something and you've done so, or you're at least doing so. And so remember that as you're going for what you want to go for. When we build our businesses or when we change our physical appearance or when we change any habit that we have, people do recognize and people do appreciate the struggle and appreciate what you've done and just appreciate how hard it is and how much you've worked for it. So that's the end of day 4. I think I called yesterday day 3. Maybe I've already mentioned that, but we'll get started tomorrow morning bright and early.
I may never get this video stuff right. I called yesterday day 2. It was actually day 3. And now that's the end of day 4.
