In this vlog entry, the narrator chronicles a typical day during a 28‑day personal challenge. The morning begins with a run, where the first five miles feel easy but the final mile brings a struggle that the narrator interprets as a sign of an impending breakthrough. He emphasizes the importance of pushing through discomfort to achieve goals. The routine continues with a sunrise, a sauna session, and reflections on health choices—rejecting a bagel and a Diet Coke in favor of water, while noting emerging back and knee aches. A walk with Tammy is highlighted, showcasing her commitment to fitting exercise into a busy schedule and marking a personal milestone for her. Later, the group discusses a news story about Carrier laying off 1,400 workers, using it as a cautionary tale about complacency. The conversation shifts to a Casey Neistat video about “working yourself out of a job,” prompting the narrator to share his own experience at the Metro Atlanta Chamber and to reinforce his core belief that one must constantly grow or risk stagnation. Throughout, the vlog blends personal training updates, health habits, community support, and broader reflections on work, resilience, and continuous self‑improvement.

Or maybe this after, I guess. Anyway, early. It's a nice day. It's a little cooler than yesterday, I think, but maybe it's just the wind. You know, the slightest wind can make you feel like you're working a little harder, and expectations can as well. Every morning Grant and I talk about how far we're going to run. It used to be we just already knew, we had a plan, but now that we're getting close into the marathon, we're kind of mixing things up and we're not exactly sure how far we're gonna go every day. And so for the first 5 miles today, I was great, felt good. And that last mile, I just struggled because I knew I was near the end, and I just wanted it to go ahead and finish up. And that's an important point as you're going for the things you're going for. Remember that if you start to feel a little bit of a struggle, chances are you're, you're about to have a breakthrough. You're about to get to the end. You're about to get to where you want to go. And, uh, that, that struggle, you know, it's in the beginning you might have a little bit of a struggle, and then you will, you settle in, and then you have this struggle, and that's when you need to be aware because it's easy to fall back and not, not push through. But the easiest thing to do is to win. Go ahead and push through.
One of the great things about getting up early is you can see that sunrise.
It's just beautiful. You don't get to see that if you wake up later than now. Wrapping up our morning routine, Grant had to come get me out of the sauna. I kind of zoned out in there. You got to be careful when you're in the sauna watching Facebook or stuff like that. You can be in there way too long. Got a little hot. But I feel good about the morning.
Glad I got everything done.
Ready to tackle tackle the day. Are you nervous about the marathon?
I mean, I won't lie, I'm a little nervous. I mean, this is gonna be my first marathon. I ran 25, and I know how that felt, and I know that I'll be able— I think I know in my gut, I know that I'll be able to make it. It's just, it's kind of like everything has led up to this one point, and I'm just, I'm nervous of it.
Today the old me is harassing the crap out of me.
I'm tired and I'm getting close, so I've got little things like I've got this backache that all of a sudden I have. I hadn't had a backache in 3 years and all of a sudden now I've got a little bit of a backache. My knee hurts a little bit. And as I finished today, I wanted bagels. I didn't want, you know, I wanted a bagel. I didn't want to go and eat a healthy breakfast. And that was even before I went to the club. And then I came down to I was getting the day started and I'm wanting a Diet Coke and it's an indication to me that it's time to stick to my routine, to get focused on what I'm trying to accomplish. So no Diet Coke, it's gonna be water. I'm gonna take that moment and I'm gonna realize that all it is is the old me begging for attention. But unfortunately for the old me, it's time for you to die.
We are out for our walk and it's early, it's even before lunch and that is a great sign. Tammy came down and said that wanted to make sure she got her walk in today. And she knows that she has to work this afternoon, and she knows we have lunch coming up, and we've got a full day, and the chances of us getting back in time to do her walk or swim— so she decided she wanted to do it. Now this is a landmark day for her.
She's really making great progress.
As we're walking here, we were discussing a couple of things that have been prominent on Facebook and in social media. One of those things is that video of the Carrier employees who Found out they were going to lose 1,400 jobs.
I guess we're going straight.
Lose 1,400 jobs in Indianapolis, and actually more than that in another plant too, going to Mexico. And the way we feel about that, and it's unfortunate for them, but what's really unfortunate in my opinion for them is that nobody told them that they can't just stay the way they are and expect for good things to happen. Everybody has to continue to strive and move forward. And, uh, Tammy watches, uh, and Grant watch a YouTuber, Casey Neistat, and he had a video today about, um, if you work for him for 2 years and you haven't worked your way out of the job, then, then really there's something wrong. And it's kind of interesting because I remember 20 to 30 years ago when I went to work for somebody and one of their first rules was you're only allowed to work for me 2 years. And I used to think it was because he was insecure, but the fact is he was trying to move me forward. Would make sure that I did better. And I remember when I went to work at the Metro Atlanta Chamber as a Director of Small Business, I told them my goal is to work myself out of a job, and I successfully did that a little faster than I wanted to, to be honest. But the point is, is that you've got to be growing or you're going to be dying.
You've heard that old saying, freedom isn't free. Well, the truth is, the freedom of owning your own business and entrepreneurship, it comes with a price every once in a while too. This evening, working a little later than I'd hoped, but that's okay. We're taking care of a client who really needs our help tonight. Their busier than they expected to be, and we're going to make sure that they get everything they need so they can serve their clients. It's day 17 of 28 days. A couple of days from now, 11 days from now, we'll be running our marathon, Grant and I will, and having another good day. It, it has been very busy this afternoon catching up on some things, and it seems that Wednesdays have become a very busy day for us. And we already knew that was going to be happening, by the way. We had changed some of our work schedules But that's a good thing and makes us more efficient, and we're able to spend more time doing the things we want to do. Tammy was able to go ahead and get her walk in before we ever got busy this afternoon, so that's a good thing. And just focusing on our routine and focusing on our accomplishments, it's been very good for us. Coming up in the next couple of days, we're going to wrap up our final long run before the, the marathon. So this Saturday will be our last long run. And just looking forward to that final week where we can really focus on the effort it's going to take to succeed. You know, Walt Disney said, "It's fun doing the impossible." And certainly just a few short months ago, this whole thing would have been impossible to me. It would have been impossible to think that we, any of us, would be doing the things we're doing right now. And it just takes a couple of things every day, bit by bit, and all of a sudden the impossible is very possible indeed. So that wraps it up for day 17 of 28 days. Tomorrow will be the final run day of the week, and we'll have a busy day as usual. We'll try to stay focused on our routines and focused on the things that are making us successful and not letting those things that crop up take too much of our time, handling them quickly and moving on with what we want to get done.
