Back on track in the morning. It's early on Friday morning, my rest day. Had a little bit more food than I should have yesterday. Really easy to roll into a 4-day streak at this point if I'm not careful, so I'm gonna get right back to my routine with my breakfast. Well, it's Friday morning. It's a nice cool crisp day. It's not as cold as it has been. Isn't that the way it works? I'm not running this morning and I can actually tolerate being out here in shorts and a t-shirt. Friday is a day that you would think maybe I would indulge myself, sleep in a little bit, but I've been up for a couple hours now. I don't get off schedule. That's important. You got to be ready to wake up when you're supposed to wake up every day of the week. And even though we got in late last night, back up early this morning before 6 AM. The interesting thing about Friday and an off day with it, with running and with my regimen, is that I have about an hour and a half of extra productive hours that I can use in my business doing other things, and so that's what I'm going to do today. I'm going to try to maximize that. I'm also going to try to learn from last week. Last week I didn't hydrate as properly as I should have for the long run on Saturday, and so I'm going to get started right now making sure I get plenty of water in my system today. I'm being told I wear my hair like an old man. Hello, I am an old man! Now I'm trying a new look. What do you think? So we're I got my $5 bill that I found on the ground over there. We're sitting and discussing things that we want in our lives and the way things have gone, and I just came to the realization I've lost 70 pounds, and it probably took me about 6 months total. And I really, in all honesty, I can think on my hand maybe the number of times I thought about losing weight in the entire time. I wasn't concentrating on losing weight. I was concentrating on changing my diet. I was concentrating on getting my exercise. I was concentrating on going where I wanted to go. I didn't know I wanted to lose 70 pounds. I mean, I thought I wanted to lose 100, and I probably still do. Do. But the point was, is that I wasn't focused on how I was getting there. I was focused on where I was going. Afternoon, it's a beautiful— what are you gonna say? Uh, nothing. Okay, he's got nothing. Friday afternoon, beautiful afternoon, a little windy, but it's, uh, in the 60s today. Boy, we get some crazy weather. We're out for our walk we missed yesterday because we were having afternoon time with our family and going up to Atlanta. So we've got to put our walk regimen back in place. So we're going to get out for about a mile, mile and a half, and it's spend some time together with the family, catch up on what's happened today. We are trying a new recipe tonight. It's a no-carb cloud biscuit or cloud bread, and it calls for 2 eggs. You split the eggs or separate them, put the whites in a mixer with 1/8 of a teaspoon of cream of tartar, and you whip it until you have essentially meringue. Stiff peaks. And then you're supposed to take the 2 ounces of cream cheese, fold it into the yolks, and then mix the two together. And we're gonna see if we can get bread out of this. Oh, you're supposed to spread them out on the cookie sheet, and magically these are supposed to turn into buns. We'll see what they do. 300 for how long, Tammy? 30 minutes, 300 degrees. They have come out of the oven exactly looking like the ones that are advertised on the internet. So it'll be interesting to see how they taste. Everyone says they taste great. Just wanted to think about a few things before I do the wrap-up video for the day. I really think that we've done a better job this week of planning in some respects, but in other respects we really have kind of failed. Grant and I hydrated ourselves much better today. We didn't run out of water. On Friday, and we've been drinking water all day long, so I know that we're going to be in good shape for that. But we didn't get to the store, we didn't buy any of the Gatorade chews that we use, or the beans— there's some jelly beans that are for runners. I didn't get any of that, and we didn't buy any Gatorade, so we won't have that in the morning. Now, the good news is we're probably going to do a shorter long run, so I don't know that that'll be any trouble for us. But it just goes to show that if you really don't have everything planned out in a very strict routine, you'll have a tendency to miss some things. So, and then the other thing we missed this week was of course last night we had pasta at an Italian restaurant because we were going out with family, and then of course tonight pasta again, and I'm pretty sure that's going to show up on the scales for me. I hope not, but we'll see, but maybe it'll show up in a better run tomorrow. Friday evening, day 12 of 28 days, wrapping up a day off, as much of a day off as I get. We did do our walk, but took the time that I would normally spend exercising and running and focused on our business. We did an extended coffee time this morning, and that helped us iron out some things that we just are trying to do to move ourselves forward. I spent a good amount of time today working on the billing that needs to be done so that the cash flow continues to work the way it should, making sure that we just tidy up all the loose ends and making sure that everybody gets paid for the week. Tomorrow is long run day, and Grant and I will be running between 15 and 18 miles. Haven't really decided yet, and it's a taper week. We've got this week, next weekend, and then the marathon weekend. So, um, just trying to make sure that we stay healthy, but also stay in a rhythm and stay in a routine. And speaking of routine, when you have a day off that's planned, you need to have a routine for that day as well, and we did just that. I got going early just like I normally do, did a lot of work early in the morning. We had our coffee time, had our lunch, had our breakfast just like normal. Even though I knew that we were going to be having a little bit more of a carb-loaded night tonight, and then we did last night, I didn't let that turn into a full day and a half because I know that the weekend's coming up and I just want to make sure that I don't do anything too far off my schedule. As far as weight loss goes, I've said early on in this week, or this, this month actually, that I'm not too concerned about losing more weight right now. I want to make sure that I don't gain too much, and I did gain a pound or two this week. And so I'm gonna kinda watch that next week. I think I'll probably lose it tomorrow in the long run. And as far as discovering something new that we can add to our diet, Tammy's cloud bread was outstanding. It actually tastes like bread, and I was really surprised by that. It doesn't quite have the exact same texture, it's a little lighter than regular bread, but it does taste good. It'll be good for sandwiches and things like that. Absolutely no carbs. And so the recipe for that is really simple. I can give it to you right here. It's You take 2 eggs, you separate them, you take 2 ounces of cream cheese, mix it into the yolks, you take 1/8 of a tablespoon— teaspoon rather— of cream of tartar and you whip the whites with it. You get that to nice stiff peaks, then you fold the 2 together, you bake them at 300 for 30 minutes and they turn out just like bread. Really, really surprising, very tasty. And that's kind of the fun of some of this stuff is just discovering new things that you never knew you could do that really are perfectly good substitutes for what we just assume we have to use, like regular loaf bread. So that wraps it up for day 12, 28 days. Once again, we have this weekend, next weekend, and then Marathon Weekend. Appreciate you supporting us in this endeavor.
