What's holding you back? That's right, what's holding you back? What's keeping you from doing the things you want to do? We're gonna find out about that today. You know, over the past 45 years or so, I've probably talked to 10,000 people who have said something to the effect of, I just can't seem to get started, I can't get done what I want to get done, I'm— I know I can do more, I know I can be I can be more, and yet I just, I just can't seem to do it. And I've even experienced it myself. Maybe you have too, where you've just, you know, you know that there's something there you're supposed to be doing. Maybe it's start that business, or maybe it's take that class to move up and get a promotion, or maybe it's to ask that right girl or right guy. Who knows? But there's always something hanging out there we all know we should do. But we just can't seem to get it done. It's a big step, and oftentimes you've probably heard, well, the thing that's holding you back is fear, you know, false evidence appearing real. And for whatever reason, my entire life I've never really bought that. I never really thought I'm afraid to move forward, I'm afraid to succeed or to fail or whatever it is. And Interestingly enough, a lot of people that I talk to, they say they've heard about fear, but they don't say that it's them. Well, I can tell you, after studying a lot of people and a lot of opportunities and myself and just all sorts of data, I think I really know what the real thing that holds us back is. It's not fear. It's self-doubt. It's the fact that we either don't think we deserve what we want, or we don't think we can accomplish what we want, or we don't think we're smart enough, or, you know, like, who was that character that that they used to have on Saturday Night Live, but I'm good enough and doggone it, people like me. You know, we just don't feel like that, you know, it's for us. We think everybody else can have all the things they want, but really we don't deserve it. And nothing could be further from the truth. We all have amazing talents and abilities, and if there's something you're wanting, it's not outside the realm of you being able to accomplish it. Have you ever had one of those moments where you realize that you've accomplished something or done something extraordinarily well, something that you didn't expect to do so well doing. We've all had those in golf when we used to play better than we were supposed to, you know, playing above our head, or they call it out— what is it? Out-kicking your coverage or whatever, you know, the fancy words or sayings are. You know, we've all had those moments when we've exceeded even our own expectations, and we need to look back on those moments when we're trying to exceed our expectations again to obtain the, the courage and obtain the confidence that we can do the things we want to do. So here's an idea for you. You need to look back on those things you've been successful in, in the past and dwell on those and not on the things that you failed at or the things you haven't been able to accomplish. You need to look back and see what were the, what was going on that made me successful at those moments in time? How was I able to move forward? And then what you need to do is you need to set yourself up to experience success on a regular basis. Set small, seemingly unimportant goals that each day you can accomplish so that you know that you're accomplishing over and over and being successful. Because the fact is, what you really want, or what you really need, is a habit of success in order to have the confidence that you can succeed in the other things you want to do. You see, we don't have desires that are beyond our capabilities. We just We just need to have the belief that what we are desiring is actually obtainable for us. And the way we do that is by step-by-step progressing toward that worthy ideal or worthy goal that we're trying to accomplish. So make it a habit every day to succeed at a few things. Make sure that you keep track of that and you celebrate those successes, and you'll soon be on your way to even bigger success. So how does this apply to starting a business? It's very simple. You know, you're probably holding back because you're doubting you'll be successful. The only way to be successful is to go and do it. And the only way to find out if you will be successful is to take that first step. So set some small, accomplishable goals that lead you towards starting your business. Maybe it's sitting down and writing out a survey that you're going to ask people so that you can see if your concept is, is going to work. Or perhaps it's talking with suppliers of some products that you might want to sell, or perhaps it's talking with friends about your unique talents and abilities. Set some small goals that'll get you on your way to your big goal of starting your business. It won't be hard, you just have to be persistent.
