Alexandra J. Johnson argues that spiritual knowledge only matters when you live it daily. Learning from teachers like Michael Bernard Beckwith and S.N. Goenka means nothing without consistent practice: eating vegetables, meditating, embodying your truths. Each small effort spirals you up.
Welcome to Mama Goddess. I'm your host, Alexandra J. Johnson. This podcast is all about rocking your goddess life, creating vibrant health and celebrating motherhood and family life. It's about living an authentically awesome life. Let's have.
Hello, this is Alexandra. Welcome to another Optimize+1. People always ask me, what is the advanced teaching? And I always tell them the practice Michael Bernard Beckwith I love this. It's easy to read and study and theorize about ideas. It feels good. We can see and feel the truth in what great teachings are telling us. But that feeling is not action. It's not putting those teachings into practice. I have to remind myself this often. The practice is the advanced training. We can hear the wonderful benefits of eating vegetables, but knowing that they are good for us isn't enough. We must eat them. The same goes with meditation. Oh yes, meditation sounds so wonderful. Yes, yes. But are we practicing? Are we practicing the things that we know to be true? Are we living our truths? As Brian wisely says, moving from theory to practice? That's the game. The theory is relatively easy, but we don't want to be filled up with a bunch of theory and not a lot of action. It's during the regular practice sessions where we transform drop by drop. Our practice adds up over the days, months and years. We may not feel like it's doing anything, but there's a spiraling up that is happening. Either we are expanding our consciousness or we are devolving because we aren't doing the things we know to do. I don't believe there's ever a time when we when we have arrived and don't have to do the work. It's the practice that creates the magic. It's what supports our evolution. It's what inspires us to rise up and be and do more. The possibilities are endless. The practice purifies us so that we can live with dignity and sovereignty. We must never fall prey to the idea that we can stop practicing. Instead, we must remind ourselves that the practice is actually the path to mastery. Start again. Start again. As SN Guenka echoed in my ear over and over during the 10 day silent meditation retreats I did again. When we start again, we will have transformed. Even if it's only in a microscopic way. Change is always happening. Start again. Start again. Sending you big love and blessings.
