"I Wish I Had This Map Years Ago" | Rock Your Goddess Life

Alexandra Johnson maps the 10 stages of the Goddess Journey: everyday life, whisper, hesitation, guide, threshold, initiation, surrender, rising, gift, and return. She walks through each stage and how to move through fear and the messy middle, framed as a spiral path for women's self-development.

All right, so we are going to go through the 10 stages of the goddess journey. Can you hear the cicadas? They're coming out for us. They're like, they're singing for the goddess journey. Yes. Okay, so the Heroine's Journey, that is the goddess journey. And we start off with everyday life. So everyday life is when you look at your life and you say, what does my life look like? What does my life feel like? And if your life was a movie, what would be the story? What would be the title of your movie? So just taking inventory of where you are in your everyday life. Then as we do that, we move into the whisper. So the whisper is all about that call to adventure. What is within you that is calling you to be expressed, to be, to create, to have. And so these are like little whispers that come up. In our daily life, in our journaling, in our reflection. So we listen to the whispers. And so let's say you have a whisper come up and you want to do something, you want to be something, you want to create something. The next stage is usually a hesitation. So you have this dream, this wish that arises, and then a lot of times there's a hesitation in there of what Who am I to do this? Can I do this? Is this possible? And, you know, some of those inner, inner critical thoughts will come in for the Hesitation. But we don't stay at Hesitation. A lot of dreams literally just die in the Hesitation stage. They don't even make it past the next stage. So, when we have this framework, which is why I created it, you can start to look at your life and see where you are on the Goddess journey, in the Goddess Circle. And you can say, "Oh, I'm in Hesitation right now." This is not the time to quit. I'm gonna actually see this wish to fruition. So you have the hesitation, and then usually there's a guide that comes in. So the guide may be your highest self, your inner goddess that says, no, you can do this. You can do this. Let's go. Right? Or maybe it's your friend. Your best friend says you can do this. Maybe it's a coach, it's a mentor. There's some side of sort of guide that comes in to support you on your journey, giving you confidence to move forward. Then we move to the next stage, and the next stage is the threshold. So the threshold is where we move from the known to the unknown. And so you have this wish, can I do it? I would love to do it. Oh, please. And then you have this moment, this choice point. Am I going to cross? Am I going to jump across the chasm and say yes to my wish, to my desire?— and that is moving from the threshold stage into the initiation. So, everyone has to make that jump. You have to have the courage to say, "Yes, this is important to me. Yes, I am going to make the leap." And so then you leap into initiation. And initiation is— there's a lot that happens in initiation. Initiation is really the depth of the Heroine's Journey, where I like to say that there's goddess magic that happens, serendipitous moments, synchronicity happens, but there's also foggy funks that happen. It's the messy middle. During this time, you may have like a dark night of the soul. There's a lot that happens in initiation. This is also a place where a lot of dreams die because you may be going through initiation, you're showing up for your dream, you're showing up and you're like, is this even working? I don't even know if this is making a difference. Should I do this? You know, what I call the false goddess comes in and she's got lots of opinions about what you're doing or not doing and if this is actually going to work. So that is initiation. We need to go through the fire of initiation. And if we stop here, then we don't get to experience the full goddess journey. We don't go for the full cycle. So from initiation, we move into surrender. So, surrender is really— initiation is where you're putting effort in, you're rewiring your brain, creating new habits, new rituals. Like, you're, you're becoming someone new, I say, but you're also remembering who you are, and you're letting go a lot of, a lot of limiting stories, a lot of conditioning, past programming, etc. And so that just takes work and energy. And what happens in surrender is it's almost like something comes underneath you and gives you support, or pulls you up, right? So, Joseph Campbell calls it the invisible hands. Phil Stutz calls it higher forces. So, something comes in to support you, and you just ride the wave of life, and you're supported by something bigger than you, right? You can call it God, Spirit, something, life happens. And so, a lot of that effort moves into effortlessness. It's like, oh wow, I am just feeling so great. And so we surrender to this, and we also start to surrender more and more to the process. We have gone from everyday life all the way to surrender, and we have more trust in ourselves, we have more trust in the process, and we have more trust in life. So there's a surrendering, a softening that happens. And then from— you move from surrendering into the rising. And the Rising is the pinnacle of transformation. It is like the trans— you know, it is— it's what we all love, the, the energy of transformation. So it's the Phoenix rising, it's the woman going through birth and giving birth to her baby, right? Like, she holds her baby and so she rises and she is now a mother where she was not a mother. And this is also where the butterfly— the caterpillar you know, becomes a butterfly, all of those metaphors, this is what happens. So the rising is where a woman really becomes this version that she dreamed that she could be. And that is, that's the rising. Then we move into the gift. And so the gift is really looking at the whole journey that you've gone through and seeing what the gifts are that you received. So it may be the baby, It may be a book, it may be a program. It also may be, you know, more confidence, more connection to yourself. You reclaimed a little bit more of your authentic self. You feel healthier, more vitalized, more radiant. It could be any of those things, but you really take time to celebrate the gifts that you received along this journey. And so then after the gift is, you move into the return. So every woman has to return on the goddess journey and returning to her everyday life. And so it's looking at How is she going to return to her life, and how is she going to give these gifts to herself, to her family, to her community, and to the world? So there is this energy of taking all that she's learned on the entire goddess journey and returning to her everyday life as a changed woman, and then that ripples out in her life. So we went from everyday life to the whisper, to the hesitation, to the guide, to initiation, to surrender, rising, gift, and then the return back to everyday life. And so, this is— I love this because it just gives us language, because you're never not on the Goddess Journey. Even if you're full of fear and doubt, you're on the Goddess Journey. You're on the path. And so then this just gives you, okay, great. How do I move through his hesitation? How do I stay in the fire of initiation and not give up? And so this, every time you make this circle, and again, let's be real, this is not a linear path. I mean, it's a spiral. You can go here and here and you're, there's moments of everything, everything in between. And you may have a day where you literally live the entire goddess journey in one day. Day. So there's many facets of how we can play with this, but that— I just wanted to give you an overview of how I see it, how I use it in my own life, and how it is super helpful to have for a map to see your life and your journey. And every adventure that you take through these 10 stages, you reclaim a little bit more of your authentic self. You become more of who you know you're destined to be. So every adventure— and after every adventure you go on, there's always a call for a new adventure. There's always a new whisper, and that is a beautiful cycle that we go through. So every goddess journey that you go on, you go deeper into yourself, but you also expand and connect to something greater than yourself. So it is a beautiful process, it's a beautiful journey, and I just wanted to give you the high level. Definitely not a short video, but that is the whole goddess journey in one video. I would love to hear your thoughts on it. What do you love? Do you have any questions on it? So please let me know. So I can support you on your goddess journey. And thank you so much for watching this, for engaging in this, and I appreciate you. And more soon.
